For what its worth, I have made several custom races and they all seem to work fine. However, I have never actually played AS one of those races, I always backed out and started the game with a standard race. Although, as discussed in another thread https://forums.galciv3.com/462974/page/1/#3534035 I have found that Steam verification always wants to correct a file now. And I have had steam cloud

Not a bad thought. I wonder what the right thing to do is in this case: just ignore it or keep verfiying. Or maybe it doesn't matter. Hmmm, guess maybe it is ticket time.
I do have three custom races in the game: the Wisps, the Borg, and the Little Green Men, as well as all the standard races. Could that be causing an issue? EDIT: and when I closed my session this morning, again one file had to be downloaded again. So it appears to be a regular feature.
Since the B5 release I have noticed that "Verify Game Cache" is frequently reporting that one file needs to be downloaded. I became suspicious about this, so this morning I repeated it although I had not had any noticeable problems with the game when I finished last night. Yep, 1 file needed to be downloaded. So I tested this by verifying again immediately after the first verification. This time it stated there were no problems. Well, good, but I am st
We are looking into it. Thanks for the heads up and sorry for the trouble... Edit : This has been fixed. Max file size is now 96m.
Thanks! That helps a lot!
1. Last night in an immense game out of the blue three AIs banded together and DoW on me simultaneously. Good thing. It was suicidal...for them. Bad thing. But nice to see them working together even if it's only for a DoW. 2. Evaluations are a big issue. One exploit that I have used is to get extreme colonization fast, then colonize somewhere deep in another faction's ZOI. I can then trade the colony to the AI for a bundle
/snip/ I mention them in case the devs are unaware or if the behavior is somehow unexpected.
Absolutely! I try to send a ticket even on seemingly trivial display stuff. It only takes a screenshot or 3, and it makes sure it is on their to-do list.
I like the general idea of having the freedom to set up a starbase not unlike a planet. There would be limits...maybe a slot limit for certain types. Then I could specialize or not; specialization producing the greatest return but being less flexible. You could have slot limits for development (res + cul + manf) as a whole, and another limit for defenses. The limits would be low enough that tough choices have to be made. And perhaps t
I am hopeful that the large amount of information available will be strongly tuned at some point. I should expect you need good relations to know much about another faction and to get even partial info on an unhappy faction would take either capturing a ship/colony or espionage. I shouldn't be able to know exactly what is in the Drengin fleet when they hate my guts, and all I know is that I saw one of their scouts. On the other hand during the beta p
I think the first thing I checked out for b5 was whether overflow (prod or res) was working and the tests I did suggested it was spot on the number for both, which was a huge sigh of relief for me. But it didn't look like it at first for the reason you mentioned. I am wondering if this is one of those "features" that don't get updated until the following turn, so the status number is always a turn short, but I could be wrong, of course (normally about a 50% c
Is it the same problem I reported in this post? Please take a look at that post and note the request from a developer for anyone else having the problem to open a ticket and send in the files they request.
Yes it appears to be the same, except you seemed to indicate that you were still seeing the main screen. The other responders repo
I have submitted a ticket on this. Around turn 250 (immense game with a number of opponents, a couple custom races and minors) I have started increasingly to have apparently random problems with the battle viewer presentation. It happens only once in a while, and I can reload the game without any other changes, do the same attack, and it may work! When it doesn't I get a black screen. I hear the battle sounds. When they finish I have tried to
A similar issue occurred to me when I attempted to trade a non aggression pact to my friends, the Altarians. They literally were willing to give away the farm to get it....lots of techs that they would have required a stiff bargain to get otherwise, all their cash, etc. My power rating was about 50% higher at the time but really. I agree, a balancing issue.
Point 1: Number 10 talks about the AI making friends. One particular aspect I think will make a huge difference at larger game sizes as the number of factions increases. First, that the AI be able with reasonable frequency to form alliances (the higher end of "friends") and that second they are able to coordinate attacks with their allies against a common enemy(s). This characteristic alone would make single player or co-op play in a big
It may be....I just found out myself that I had to link my save file because it was about 22 meg. But the link idea worked.
Edit: I should add that I haven't had any problem with sav files before, but perhaps their server is getting a bit busy since b5 launch. Dunno.
It may be....I just found out myself that I had to link my save file because it was about 20 meg. But the link idea worked.
I am definitely now seeing this issue with a new race. Research extreme and get frozen, aquatic, etc. but not barren. Definitely weird.
One reason could be that you are trying to upload a big file (dmp). Why the message is what it is I don't know, but it happened to me and that seemed to be the issue. But you can either email the dmp file or you can put it in a host service like dropbox and send a link with the ticket.
Thanks for the pictures! Appreciate it!
I have gotten two free "lvl 10" planets. One was lvl 14, the other was lvl 16, and both were in star systems adjacent to my home world. I was actually thinking that maybe the idea was a minimum lvl 10, but evidently not! They should change the language or make the planet always lvl 10. And it should be "nearby", no doubt. Personally the fact that they are not colonized is fine, giving a planet that is already at full population (and is not a captitol
Update: Before completing a ticket I decided to try one more test. I started another new game, but this time just clicked "quick start". I then immediately tried to save and then reload the game. No problem! I then went back to several of my save games that had been giving the problem (namely, an attempt to load another game while a game was in progress). After about a hafl dozen attempts without any CTDs I have to conclude that somethin
B5: If I save a game, then perhaps move a ship without updating the turn marker, then (for who knows what reason, but whatever) when I click load, pick the save I just made, when I click yes on do you want to load screen, I get a CTD. Once this happened I tried it several times (with different games) and it happened every time. I am going to take a closer look at this before submitting a ticket because it may be more general and/or I may be able to supply mo
I believe at least once an update wasn't posted until Friday morning. And there is no guarantee that some nasty last minute issue will rear its ugly head and push the update to next week, although I haven't seen that happen yet. Meanwhile I am just cruising the net thinking about ways of building my next computer rather than just buying a prebuilt, so my time is being well spent imo.
The standard work around for large files is to upload them to a hosting site like dropbox and provide a link to it in your ticket. That's what I have been doing and it seems to work ok. At first it seemed like extra work, but now I use it to help keep problem stuff I have created organized in one place, then just upload what I need. Dropbox can also be used to post pictures directly into this forum, so it has additional uses.
"Roasted Drengin Shipyard". Hmmm, sounds like a cool restaurant!
