@Tohron: of course I agree that governments wouldn't be involved. Case in point, my example of the Civil War, for most of the war the two sides wouldn't even exchange prisoners. And I don't think smuggling would add anything useful to the game, to be sure.
/snip/ For the AI trading bit - Can you lock out actual trading with the AI (when at war with them) unless it is a peace deal? Seems odd that they'd want to trade anything with you while at war with you.
I agree, but I would mention that historically nations at war have often carried on major trading operations (illicitly, of course). For example, during the U.S. Civil War there was a lo
I need to check on this, I had thought that one had already been completed. I will see, you are probably right. Still, doesn't sound like it should work that way.
Very much appreciate the comments guys. My monitoring programs suggest that other components (video card and HDD are well below the numbers I see for the CPU), so I really don't think I have much of an issue then. BTW, my video card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti and is new (not a great card but a big upgrade to the original GPU). So I think playing with the cpu is indicated unless I just want to practice. If do want to fiddle I
I seem to be able to build multiple entertainment capitals. I am just wondering if this is working as intended. It sure solves morale problems. I have colonies where mouse over of approval shows Entertainment Capital(3) which is a lot of approval.
The separation of production vs manufacturing is an issue, I agree. Either renaming ("base production") or an ironclad consistency seems in order. Good point, even though I wasn't aware of the Yor issue (not robot friendly yet --- I will make Borgs and Cylons and such as customs but they are evil and as such not my usual style.
I am finding that the "request constructor" option is going to be a big help as soon as I get used to it. It's one of those things that I have to get used to after doing it all manually for so long. It isn't perfect by any means, still seems to call a constructor from a distance at times. I have three suggestions, I don't claim they are necessarily original as there have been many threads on constructors and I may have missed something. 1. When I
I am a little leery of making a lot of custom races atm because we are still in beta buy your pictures will always be in play. Thanks again.
@BuckGodot: Instead of abundant/abundant/abundant they should just call it Insane Level 4. Like to see your result, perhaps you could post it sometime next year?!
As long as you are remain below the Max temp spec of the processor you should be ok, however you might want to check your thermal management solution maybe put some new thermal grease between the CPU and heat sync I had some over heating issues a couple of wears back turned out the thermal grease had dried out and some what blown away when I air dusted the inside of the PC. @Azaell83 That's what I meant by infuriating. The idea that a laptop automatically can't be a decent game machine is an old wive's tale. Update: I started this thread worried about core temps that were in the low to mid 70s even though the Tjmax is supposedly 105 C, because online someone stated that 72.5 C is the goal for the high temp for this motherboard. I have spent some time trying to rearrange the extra cables in the case, inverting the ca
Does this patch mean that old save games should not be used? Further, is it recommended to recreate the my games/galciv3 folder altogether? Seems like the prudent thing to do, but it's not clear. Also, what about Program Files/Stardock/galciv3? And, custom races? Should they be deleted and remade or not?
There is a cloaking tech in the tree now but I don't know what it actually does, haven't acquired it yet.
I think there is something to be said in favor of making trade offs with imperfect information. Delay or not. Will the right tile be available or not. Sort of like should I rush a colony ship to get planet X lvl 13 when it looks dicey or should I just settle for the level 7 closer by without having to shell out the extra money. You pays your money, you takes your chances. Sometimes you will have enough information to know the right thing to do...many times n
I realize that it was mentioned that there are people who use triple monitors. But it was a real eye opener to me. I was feeling pretty good about getting a second monitor working that displayed monitor programs that tracked temps, fan speeds, cpu and gpu usage, memory commit, etc. while I played the game so I could see what was happening. The idea of even using two monitors that display one big screen (1920x1080x2) sounds terrific, unfortunately I would have to invest in
This stuff and your replays of the older games (and gc3) is just 24k solid gold. Thanks, Mr. Frogboy! Wonder if I could get a drink from your pond?! Seems like it makes creatures smarter... [e digicons]|-)[/e]
I have tried the fix suggested by the OP and it works very well. Thanks! I also noticed that if I wanted to save the old def file, I needed to move it out of its current directory, or the game would think that various things are defined twice.
I noticed this and posted a ticket on it. Hopefully it's a quick fix.
I find that different resources allow different support ships. So missile support takes one, Tactical support takes another, and so on. Works pretty good as is; wouldn't mind more uses but I am finding I run out of some of the resources very fast.
I am guessing just dump them into the my games/galciv3/factions/logos EDIT: Tested and it seems to work! Hooray!
I have also noticed that the UP didn't start meeting until after turn 200. Then when it started it was frequent! (I have it set on the default.) I am now on turn 260 or so and have had quite a number of UP meetings. I am playing on Immense with all the standard races, three custom races and minors (I have seen three minors so far). I don't see a drastic slowdown - I do have to wait a few seconds on turns, tho. I have 16 gb but no SSD --- it

Steam does not ask me to verify: I have done this on my own (to make sure when ticketing othe
