It looks interesting. I went ahead and grabbed it and it'll sit in my inventory for a while. I have other games waiting and probably won't be participating in the beta. I'm looking forward to the full release. :)

I didn't read the entire thread and only skimmed some of the posts, so forgive me if I'm being redundant. If you want better morale, you can build economic starbases. If the layout is exactly right and you have both range extension techs, you can squeeze up to 9 starbases around a planet. I'm thinking it's possible to get a 10th in the middle there, but I haven't tried yet. I prefer to stack starbases around multiple planets to increase the power

+1 And on a related note, anytime it asks you if you want to do anything with a ship, it should display the ship in question. For instance, I have armed and unarmed survey ships floating about. I keep getting the "Protected by pirates. Do you want to engage?" pop-up. I don't know if I want to because I don't know which ship is engaging.

No help there. It still subscribes me to the thread. I'll report it in the forum issues area. Reported it, but I had to go to the GalCiv2 forums to do so. I can't get there from the GalCiv3 forums.

GalCiv2 had a great AI. Consider what else was in the wild at the time and the fact that it was a 32 bit game. Those of us who got caught up in the scoring game used exploits that took months and several teams of players to devise. Facing a Suicidal AI on a level field without giving ourselves buffs or using cheese would in fact be suicidal. I doubt any one of us could beat it without cheese tactics, reloading, etc. I know you

Awesome post and +1 karma to you. I'd give more if I could. You've explained the heart of the game and why it's superior to the rest. A learning AI that'll be back and test us against ourselves. The potential there is astounding. This is one of the main reasons that I LOVE this game. There's that and the gameplay itself. It just makes sense and can be immersive if you let it. Great job, Stardock!

This thread is rather anticlimatic. I was thinking the op was saying the game was too easy. Evidently, he's just creating a min/max custom race and using standard ideology bonuses to do a colony rush. No big whoop there. The AI will take those out in short order. Once you min/max, you've changed the rules anyway. This game setup isn't valid and shouldn't even be allowed in the Metaverse. Like I said before, submit your info <span style="text-decoration: u
You need to get a paint program (like photoshop) and create a transparent mask for some parts of the foreground so that the background will show thru. I had to learn to do it. It`s a little complicated at first unless you know your graphics stuff. But once done, you won`t forget. This link might help. http://www.wikihow.com/Add-a-Layer-Mask-in-Photoshop
True story,

#2 isn't an exploit as Brad has said he uses it. #1, however, is pretty cool. You can bet I'll be doing that until the cost gets situated.

Vanilla race against vanilla races with no exploits. Although I think that's my ass on the platter coming this way again.
These are all things that just take time to do. Practice and gathering more data from actual players. Same as GalCiv I and GalCiv II.

I'd like to add a small request to the pile here. Can I turn the background yellow nebula or whatever it is off? Playing as the Yor, it makes it hard to see ships and such. I looked for an option in the setup, but couldn't find it. I have to move the map to a relatively blank spot in order to see the grid and give ship orders. Thanks in advance! :) This is on the main map.
What about using colony ships as crappy transports? It would be cool if they could invade with an appropriate soldiering modifier. Right now it feels a bit crappy that transports so completely transform population into super soldiers.
Or colony ships as good transports? Fill them up with 3 pop and send them out as colony ships. Have a deep space starbase sitting close to a border. The enemy won't see a
Only 0.7% of games are completed at the highest difficulty level, most of which are defeats for the player. Actually, I think some good could come of this. Please consider sending your saved games and whatever exploit you used to the developers so they can close the hole. Good for you for finding the problem. Now please help the rest of us by letting Stardock know what you did. The rest of us don't give a rat's ass if you can cheat at a single player game and "win". We don't care how you did it. But Stardock might. I think you're missing out on the point of a g
