Quoting MottiKhan, reply 33I haven't seen such a post by Frogboy. All I've seen has been talk about the use of steam as a distribution platform. Can you provide a link to the post you're referring to? You've probably found it already, but for everyone else, the post can be found here.
Thanks. I saw that post earlier, but there's no mention of steamworks f

This is good news! I thought the rollout date was going to be tomorrow and didn't have much faith that it would be on time. I'm looking forward to upgrading Win8 and giving 8.1 a test drive. :)
If the game requires steam running in order to function it directly violates Stardock's own "Gamer's Bill of Rights" which states: "Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game." In this case Steam is the download manager/updater.
I disagree. If steam is need
Quoting MottiKhan, reply 31 There's nothing wrong with wanting a GOG version of the game. It doesn't preclude a steam version, it adds to it. As Frogboy points out, that is not correct. Steamworks is built into the game and those functions are NOT available on GOG. It would not be the same game. However, that won't stop anyone from ma
No, it's not hate for steam. I use steam and like it. It keeps a copy of my games for me so I can reinstall them when I care to. I also have a nice library of games that I haven't gotten around to playing yet on there. I know they're safe and sound when I eventually get to them. Same with GOG. I have many more games there than I've ever downloaded, but they're in the library there. There's nothing wrong with wanting a GOG v
Weren't they already doing that?
We started discussing that on the old GalCiv2 forums. The idea sounds familiar to some of us. Hopefully, this one will be like Publius of NV mentioned above. Bring on the singularity!
Hey Mumble! Hey SS! It's good to see yall.
A new Metaverse is mentioned that will allow the AI to learn from us mere mortals. That'll be real cool.
If playing with legos was your thing more power to you but it had ZERO impact on the game. As to how much shields/speed/etc you could cram in a box/er ship it really was mostly a waste of time and nothing like eve all that ultimately mattered was how many rocks you brought versus how much paper the opponent had. This is not a choice its an illusion and theres a huge difference. And for all of us in the pro tactical battle camp this illusion is
guys don't preorder no matter how good it looks. Not to be a dick to stardock they have made lots of great games but lets look at aliens CM, and more relevantly Rome 2 Total War. If the game is good buy it, preordering only enables bad games from companies you trusted before.
Except that the GalCiv series is core to Stardock. It's Brad's baby and he'll make sure it's everything it set out
Yep, I did the $99 as well. Only because it is Stardock and my experience has been that they make good stuff. Even when they screwed up they took steps to make it right for the customer. I would not have done this for any other game company.
So true. I wouldn't have given $99.00 to any other company for a preorder. Stardock has earned a lot of trust and I'm sure
Yep, the Tyranny lives! The FAQs say it'll be some sort of asynchronous multiplayer so we can be on at different times. I'd think we could start off as a coop and go to adversarial later, if we want. I wonder if team play will be in there? A new Metaverse is mentioned that will allow the AI to learn from us mere mortals. That'll be real cool. :) As to Win8, I'm waiting to see what 8.1 will bring before going with Start8. If 8
I'll play it on Steam, but yes, I'd like a non-Steam version better.
I voted. A non-Steam version would be great. I'm still getting the Steam key, but eventually, a GOG offering would be nice.

Please don't have a rushed and messy lunch of an unfinished game, especially with pre-orders this early on.
