Asynchronous can also be simultaneous play. In that case, it can go much faster than hotseat. Let's say there are 4 human players. All players can take their turns at the same time and the game is resolved once all players have submitted their turns. The wait time would be significantly reduced. It would be a better way of playing IMO, especially if there was a "drop dead" timer that would resolve the turn after a set amount of time with the AI taking over

I don't care for hotseat mode, but I'd probably play a few asynchronous multiplayer games before reverting to single player mode. To me, the multiplayer part is just a side item that won't have staying power. Single player mode should be good for a long time though.
Probably the best place would be GalCiv3 News https://forums.galciv3.com/forum/1059 but don't take that as a copout or any form of sarcasm. We don't know and it appears that Stardock doesn't either. They've been pressed for a timeframe and IMO, Paul Boyer said it best in the following article... <a href="http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/galactic-civilizations-iii-preview-64-bits-of-hexes-ideol
I like her. She looks more updated and believable than Elyes. As far as her angry look goes, In GalCiv2, they'd look angry-ish if they weren't getting along with you for whatever reason. It could be the look of disdain owing to being disturbed by a less than relevant leader. If Elsys is to be disposed of because of naming issues, perhaps her updated graphics can be reborn under a different name.
Nice! Thanks Doc! :)
It can take an extreme amount of time to upgrade in GalCiv2 if you're far away from a planet or starbase. I don't remember if the max is 133 or 233 weeks, but either way, it makes upgrading impractical. Your ship will be at 1 hp the whole time. If your ship is outside of its movement range, you can run into this. There are several ways you can find your ship outside of its movement range. I come across it most often when I buy a ship from an AI.

Multiple monitor support would be great! Hopefully, we'll be able to open several windows across several monitors. I can see having one screen locked to the main map and maybe 3 others with espionage, the planet control list and a final one bouncing between the ship list and any other that I might need. It would be nice to work undocked like Jim above me says if it's a fewer than 4 monitor setup. :)
i hate steam becouse i heard that they can disable account for no reason and i saw their automated replies.
There's an easy way to avoid this. Stay away from their forums. That should be easy to do since you hate them anyway. I avoid their forums mostly out of indifference. Some sort of carrier or carrier like device is hinted at in Brad's comment referenced by Tridus above. Luckily, he also says something to the effect that it won't devolve into a tactical shoot 'em up. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in there. :)
It looks like a Firefox problem. They're downloading as .htm files in Firefox if I double click or right click/save as. They're downloading correctly in Chrome, though. With Firefox, I just renamed the extensions back to the original and they work.
Yeah, more major races on a massive map would be nice. Maybe 15 or 20? Who knows? Stardock might have something up their sleeve that could surprise us. Fingers crossed. :)
There isn't an official thread for suggestions, but we've been posting in this one... What would you like to see in GC3 (your perfect 4x star game) It's a nice brainstorming thread and it's generally understood that any idea can go there without being put down.
I'll probably name mine after my wife. I might not tell her for a while though. $100.00 doesn't exactly show up on the radar, but she might not like that I bought something that doesn't exist yet. [e digicons]:X[/e] Maybe I'll let her know when the alpha is out. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
I honestly don't care that much about how 'accurate' certain star colors are. if you want realism go play some simulator game. Still, there is the argument that stars unlike our own exist in a different galactic super-cluster beyond the (current) visible range of telescopes. Or that Galciv3 takes place in a different universe where the laws of physics are close, but different enough from ours t
Stop being so critical about what is "real" and what is not. It's a game, get over it. I'm thinking that the behavior is related to the game difficulty setting. If you have the AI set to "Normal" in TotA, it's a rather disappointing adversary. I mentioned something like that in our GalCiv2 team forums. Bumping the AI to "Intelligent" helps a lot and they start playing to win. That would be the "Tough" setting if you'd like to go back and try again. It's still not as aggressive as I'm accustomed to, so I'll be bumping the difficulty up

@ Mumblefratz - Just a personal opinion, but with Start8, Win 8.1 is as good or better than Win 7, especially on older architecture like the Core2. It's leaner and gives some resources back to the application rather than having the OS suck so much up. You'll be able to tell the difference in speed right away. My gaming machine is a Core2 quad and it's lickity split with Win 8.1. The biggest complaint has been the new UI and I'm front and center in tha
