On the empty colony ship. It sounds like that would have to be a bug unless you un-anchored and moved the shipyard out of range to populate ships. At least one planet must be within the "green" range which I think is the same as star bases, 5 hexes. I could be wrong on the 5 hexes but there is a limit to how far the shipyard can be to populate the ship, even when there is no distance decay.

I have made several posts requesting a toggle button on the planet management screen that would take you to the shipyard servicing the planet. It is a minor thing so it may or may not be worth the effort, but I would use it if they put it in.

The OP has spent a lot of time and done a good job describing the overall SB management problem, and adding some very good suggestions. Others have also posted good ideas around the forum. Small or tiny ship should not have long range because they should normally be well armed and not have the space for a lot of life support.

Has anyone heard the devs say there would be an edit function for the custom races. Invariable I make some error, like a dumb typo, or some trait I want to change. It is a major pain in the ass to delete the entire faction, then try to reproduce it, to fix a typo. The faction files in docs don't appear to be editable. There are 2 functions on the custom race, delete on the left and copy on the left. Has anyone used copy any what would it be used for?

I see it differently... Tiny Hull -> Speed Boat Small Hull -> Corvette or PT Boat Cargo -> Container Ship Medium -> Cruiser/Destroyer Huge -> Battleship/Carrier Of course, this is debatable but certainly the cargo hulls theoretically carry more mass than any other ship and are able to handle whatever engines you choose if you are willing to trade the space for power. I swear, I think map generation is a little bit messed up. I have had several instances of extreme planets being way more than rare when they are supposed to be rare. It seems like it may have something to do with when you mix the variables. When every thing is common, abundant, etc, it seems okay but when you are going for everything on a different setting the map seems to go a little crazy. that you could add a mining ring to economic SB and vice versa, Mining SB allow culture and military rings so omitting the econ ring is apparently just an arbitrary decision. Other opinions?

I would like to see Star Dock occasionally poll the forum on some of the more frequently mentioned features and suggestions. I know they are reading the forum but we don't get a lot of feed back on what ideas they have noticed and not, beyond a possible of-hand comment in a post or on the dev stream. It doesn't mean that the outcome would have any effect on plans for the game but it would give us and them some idea of the support that some of the ideas have among players.

I wouldn't mind a tech or something that allowed you to move a star base. One tile per turn is very slow and the only way I can imagine wanting to move it is if a 1-2 tile relocation would increase it's effectiveness. Re-positioning a star base is a realistic option and as such it is a reasonable consideration. Easy change as well.

I think the Beta 5 constructor system will be okay. Currently there is a bit of a problem with lag time from when the constructor is requested and when it is sent. If you have some constructor that were already being built and you send them to the star base it messes up the system to some extent. There should also be a way to cancel previous requests. I don't think anyone wants to build fewer constructors we just wqant better ways to manage them Now we need a similar syste

If I were you I would talk to SD. They are very accommodating and it costs nothing to try. Everyone's story is unique and in the end it can only be a matter of pushing a few buttons.
