Group polarization. Look it up.
DARCA1213
Here's the deal of sorts.The OP feels there is something wrong with the tech tree, but doesn't quite know what exactly. I love the layout, its easier to understand than galciv2 and it has standards in the specialization techs. OP would want more variation in specialization tech bonuses and more unique techs. Maybe having more weapons with different stats per tech, or more surprising tech bonuses. When the tech tree splits to other branches it might be good to have some very te
Would be interesting if you built a Starbase with a set range, and then used constructors or miners to construct the mining base. Would make it more interesting for some people. In exchange, all planets in range should get the benefits for each asteroid instead of assigning asteroids to every planet. That would make management easier especially for large empires and casuals. Nice update Brad. :} DARCA '_;
I like the idea of exclusive techs. It would make for a different research path each time. Basically you would probably have two different tech trees the same size overlapping each other. All a tech would eliminate is one tech, but move you up on both trees. I,m not saying less Tech's, but twice as many tech's. This could also go the other way it would be more complicated where picking a tech would change a path. An easier

Illiteracy is rampant. Lol
I thought it would be interesting if you could build improvements from techs that are still being researched. The only catch was that if you had for instance; researched 20% of the tech only 20% of your production would count to building it. I am not holding my breath on this becoming a reality in the game even if it were some mid game tech or racial ability in a dlc, I don't feel like waiting years after release. So I would want to mod it but I know its far more complex than chan
It would be nice to have updates incorporated into active games when released. So my games don't end up melting my mind. *_* DARCA '_;
Lol. Sorry.
Quoting DARCA1213, reply 7 Hell no, this isn't remotely similar to civ. If there is a penalty for for making a city on the other side of the globe, how will I be able to make a galactic empire over thousands of light years?!? There is no logical argument that justifies expansion pe
Right now, Galciv3 has essentially no expansion penalties. Maintenance costs are trivial, especially for new colonies, and your existing colonies suffer no ill effects from the expansion of your empire. The only thing you lose from expanding is the cost of the construction ship. Thus, a civilization's growth will follow an extreme exponential curve. The consequence of this in the gameplay is that the early game is everything.
Should there be unique weapons for each race? Right now everything leads to the Nightmare Torpedo/Doom Ray/Singularity Driver. I was thinking that there might be some races with more powerful guns, lasers, missiles, and certain special effects than others. I think that it will have to wait for tactical combat to an extent, but right now they seem too alike.
When you say too alike you m
If you zoom in to a "star" in the fow and click the mouse and slowly move the camera, you can see faint black hole particles! :D DARCA '_;
I like how I can rob it in diplomacy. :3
Christmas may be over and gifts of kindness have been given (and returned because it was the wrong thing). But what of all the people in the galciv community? I will give karma to everyone who posts and hopefully every person who leaves a post will give as well. (Because its fun.) [e digicons]:snowman:[/e] ;- )
Thinking about this from a lore standpoint: Everyone (save maybe the Yor who are in it for a short term convenience desire) are at war with the Drengin and really hate them. Instead of discontent, should they not have an unlikeable penalty as well?
Yes. And I am always right on Christmas. ;- )
Yea I noticed that immediately. Its hard to explain why, but it is needed.
There has to be a twist that leads up to the next expansion though. So something will change drastically.
Buy a mouse, it makes playing easier for my laptop. The games store page will also likely say it requires one after this post... I get your point though, 100%CPU is a bug.
You just noticed specialization techs...now? How many hours, or even turns have you actually played?
Because as races can introduce other races we haven't met according to you. Then having them join the ideology UP (because it would be cool to have one) will be just as simple. Honestly the idea multiple UPs is not working out and adds a confusing layer to the game. The "friend of a friend" method seem like the best way to get more race in the UP faster. DARCA ;- )
In the MapsizeDefs file there are global modifiers for combatmods like range but I have yet to test things like research bonuses or familiarize myself with the games code enough to find how to make ages go by faster on large maps.....maybe if you take the research bonus code from the RaceTraitDefs and put it on one of the tech ages in TechAgeDefs then it might work. I'll test it now. Oh, error message...don't try it. Lol
Divide races by ideology and still have a regular galactic UP.
