Yes, research overflow does work, and has worked. (which is really what mortili said, that it does work) But you'll never get more than 1 tech per turn (except in those cases you mentioned), so it may be hard to notice. At most it will make your next tech take 1 less turn, but only if you're lucky enough to have the numbers align in your favor.
That's strange. Because I&#3

Yes, "Ablative Armor" was introduced in DS9, midway through season 3. :) But, then again, if ANY starship in Starfleet would have actual honest-to-goodness armor, it would be the Defiant, now wouldn't it? ;)

Yeah, I think that one was my nemesis on immense maps. So, logically, first game on release of b5 will be...insane. No, that does not refer to my style of play, it refers to map size, of course! A lot of the differences are also in faction specific techs, which are still coming in/being worked on. The faction specific techs lead to faction bonuses, planetary improvements and other things. From a glance, Beta 5 is going to be something of a quantum leap for the game. Not only that, but when you get 'standard' techs can have a subtle, but important, difference when playing. But if you want a radically playing difference even before Beta 5, pla

I did note that one of the screenshots showed a faction (not sure if it is a minor or major) with the "Parasitic" ability, which wasn't one of the listed abilities. Is this available via the custom faction screen, or only through modding?

First off, I would like to thank Ray and Paul for taking and answering my question about sector lines and GC III in today's chat. :) That you allow us to pester you with questions and give you our feedback is most appreciated. I was disappointed to hear, however, that sector lines won't be able to be turned on in the game when it is released, and I wanted to explain a bit more why I think they are important by using GC II as an example. On very very large maps, it beco

I would send in tickets for these problems if you haven't already, as it's hard for the devs to replicate things from just descriptions. Link to how to create tickets and other things: https://forums.galciv3.com/452855 One thing I do think is going is that not as many people are testing out the multiplayer side of things, as I presume the GC base of players is pretty single player centric. So the devs might not

As others might tell, I'm not big on "immersion" comments as, really, that's a personal thing and pretty varied. It's probably almost impossible to satisfy all immersion comments out there. But I must admit there is one thing currently in the game that is slightly prickly to me and I thought I should bring it up. Some of the colonization events make absolutely no sense when playing as the Yor. While most of them are pretty neutral, some clearly refer to t

Just remember, for every person who thinks it is too easy to accumulate ideology, there is at least one person who thinks it is too hard. As for restricting ideology growth in the separate tables, tha

Of course this would include what ever balancing of fighters that occurs in the future. I can't imagine a better place to have scores of fighters swarming. They should be almost impervious to beams and missiles considering the amount of shields and point you could add. Kinetics should be the way to take out a SB

I believe the error is mostly down to the size of the file being uploaded. I think anything near or over 20 megs gives it. At least for me. What I've taken to doing is strip out the save file or dump file from the zipped log file that is generated and send those other files separately. I do this by replying to the ticket thread that is generated by my initial request with the files that I stripped out of the log file. A bit of a PITA, but it's al

The problem with races that solely get techs by stealing them, is that they are completely dependent on others to advance. If the races they know of research things that are of no use to a player, or of no use to what the player wants to do at the time, they're kinda stuck. And I'm not at all sure how viable they would be in a practical playthrough. Obviously, it completely negates the possibility of a scientific victory (unless it was radically reworked for that fa
