Yeah, it's pretty vital, IMO on large maps. Being able to quicky and easily find the best uncolonized planets and then fire off ships at them was a godsend for my playstyle. Even better was having a list of planets held by other factions. It let me find who held what where very quickly. Made it eaiser to plan which planets I should prioritze when it came to sending.... friends to meet them. ;)

If it is working, that'll help a lot. Still, unless there are other sources of percentage boost to approval I don't know if it'll be enough. My soloution would be to make the Harmony Crystals be a % bonus instead of a flat bo
So far, I have not found it hard to maintain good approval.
That's because you're getting a 50% bonus to approval to all planets from Affinity IV and a +5 flat bonus to your first five planets from Affinity III. Throw in random happiness from Scenic Worlds and random colonization events, and I can see why you're still in the
Is that even possible, short of not colonizing?
Sure. Just don't unlock ideological traits until one is "supposed to". It'd take a little math to figure out, mind. ;)
I'm going to have to retract SOME of what I said earlier about this. I don't have a problem with the concept of a large empire penalty. The problem I currently have is... It appears there aren't many sources of percentage based bonuses to approval. And one of the few guaranteed ones (approval relics) in the game STILL isn't working at the moment. [e digicons]:([/e] See, here's the problem. Each planet one has is
Well, I just did a quick check and it appears that the Approval Relic bug has NOT been fixed yet. So, Yeah. That could be a major problem as that is one of the things that provides a percentage based bonus to morale. And percentage base is key because that is what the empire size penalty is based on. Getting all of the flat bonuses in the world won't do one any good if one is at -100%. What is needed is sources to counteract that. Makes me wonder
5. The large empire penalty is nuts. How can I ever get 100 planets if proper are.getting sad and.going bat shit nuts just because I got a new colony?!?!? All I would be doing is building approval buildings and never winning the game through conquest, especially on large maps where there are large empires. It just doesn't make snece for this game as it adds micro management and makes something hard, harder and unfun to ever attempt.
This one is
Decided to put Beta 5 through its paces a bit today with the release of the opt-in patch. Ran into something a little humorous that almost certainly is a bug: Not only are there a pair of Thulium planets in an asteroid field, one of them is on a Durantium deposit! For the record, the game is reporting that tile as Thulium and not Durantium. Little afraid to see what happens when I eventually mine it. ;) I
Been playing a bit on an Abundant/Abundant/Abundant Insane map. with the opt-in patch. *pause* Yeah. Just a little bit of a difference. :p
I can confirm that bug regarding deduction of ideology points is still in. Makes sense as this was mostly a crash-fix patch. Just means people will have to be prudent and not abuse the game at the moment. *pause* Well, not abuse it TOO much, that is. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Will there eventually be a way to edit custom factions? I created a couple and forgot to add logos. If there is a way to add a logo now, clue me in. Otherwise It might be worth it to keep them around until there is an edit function. The only other alternative is to delete and start over. That is not the end of the world but still a minor PIA.
While this isn't the same thing, I did just now notice the existence of a "Copy" button
It's not mentioned in the patch notes, but the abundant planet generation bug has been fixed as well. In fact it looks like all of the planet generation settings have been boosted. Some quite a bit :) See here: https://forums.galciv3.com/462839/get;3534439
*checks MapSetupDefs* Well looks different here. [e digicons][/e] The new values are: None: 10.0 Rare: 2.0 Uncommon: 1.5 Occasional: 1.0 Common: 0.75 Abundant: 0.50 Yessss. I think that will make a difference. :D There's other values in there as well for things like stars, nebula asteroids, and well, just about everything that gets thrown on the map. ;)
I suggested the same thing a few days ago as well. :) https://forums.galciv3.com/462551/page/1/3530976
Yes there are ways around and yes it is something that should exist to create a balance between tall and wide empires especially on larger maps. We are just saying that the penalties may be too high no higher maps. A 1% drop for every 5 planets would be better in an immense map with abundant worlds as opposed to the current 1% drop per planet. On some of the smaller maps with less worlds this would be okay.
Is it really thou
On a large map? Play as mavelolent and get that sweet sweet bonus to conquering planets. ;). Alternatively buy lots and lots of snugglers. :p Don't forget, there are several happiness techs still to be unlocked. That plus the new trade resources plus the ideological traits should go a long way to counter-acting the complaints. In other words, don't waste a trait on this unless you can't find ways around it. ;) -------- MY complain
More major races will be brought out in expansions as the game goes on in its life cycle. 16 major races is the goal, IIRC. Will the Arceans be one of them? Time will tell. :)
I've noticed the same thing, but I've never bothered to try to find out what file Steam is complaining about.
There has never been a developer saying that nope. Just un-fans.
The developers have repeatedly said there will be no tactical combat in the game. Us fans didn't just make that up, you know. ;)
It can still be seen on Twitch. :) http://www.twitch.tv/stardock/b/642260852 Not quite as user friendly as YouTube, but it's better than nothing. ;)
I'd also report this as a ticket as an another avenue to get the devs attention. == Also explains quite a bit. Sadly these types of errors are all too easy to make with database heavy games.
I've now sent in a ticket with a savefile (embedded in the generated log files) and a bnucha screenshots. :) Also I asked for Support to send it to Ray to look at, since he was asking about it/for a save file in the latest dev chat. :)
With every major update, the save files have all been broken. Stands to reason, given the radical overhauls going on. Now the patches are another story. Those savefiles are usually fine. Also, even if prior saves could be loaded, they might contain buggy code that the devs have already addressed. So you could potentially report a problem that had long been fixed. Sucks a bit, yes. But, well, beta. :p
It says I have 70 points, which I think would indicate that the points are being deducted.
Just the opposite, actually. :). How many worlds have you colonized? Did you always choose the same ideology? When you choose a trait, they should be getting pretty expensive by now. For you to have 70 points sitting around leads me to believe they aren't being deduct
Have you been checking to see if your ideology points were deducted when you chose a trait? It wasn't for me in the short game I played today. I'm pretty sure this is a bug and I'll be sending in a ticket tomorrow when I have the chance. But it wouldn't hurt if multiple people sent them in if they are noticing the same things. :)
