Paul has just said on the Steam Stream that trade is slightly broken in that if another faction initiates a trade route with you it takes up one of your licenses. If this is what happened to you, it's now a Known Bug. :)

Paul is streaming at 1080p so it's hard for me to keep up. :( Great for people with the bandwidth.... Less so for me. ;) Much Later Edit: Using Chrome to handle the stream instead of Steam is helping greatly. No idea why. :p
Go go go if you want to see it! http://steamcommunity.com/broadcast/watch/76561198052900602
As of Beta 5 (some) Anomalies will be guarded by Pirates and will kill off your ONE and ONLY survey ship if you do not do something, either not send him to the Anomalies or add warships with him in fleet. Huh. That's odd. Is anyone else having issues where ideological points AREN'T being decreased when a trait is unlocked?
So much for cheap ideology spamming. ;) I haven't fully tested this yet, but it appears that whenever you choose an ideological trait in one table the costs increase on ALL tables. NOTE: ALL TESTING DONE ON INSANE MAP WITH ABUNDANT STARS/PLANETS - NORMAL GAME SPEED ===== I was a little surprised to see that the first ideological trait cost 10 points given some of the chatter. However, once the first ideological trait is chosen, it then becomes 20 to
One thing I just noticed. You state that pirates are in now. In the options screen, under their selection, there is only the option of "none" with a popup that says "coming soon".
Well pirates are definitely in as my first anomaly I ran into is protected by pirates. Might as well see how tuff they are at the beginning. :p EDIT::: Whew! No more free upgrades for ships, folks. Initial Colony modules now cap out at 3bil. And approval looks to have been overhauled AGAIN. In other words, time to learn new exploits, folks. :p PS: Not loving the cut to speed of ships though. Have to play it a bit to really see if it matters, but having one move scout ships at the beginning of the game is... not fun at first glance. [e digicons]>_>[/e]
Good god. Insane really is.... Well... Well named! [e digicons]o_O[/e] Gonna play one game on it without any custom factions and see how it goes. But after that it's time to fill that puppy up. Hopefully people will have created custom races for me to use by that time. :p
Or you could just watch the VoD of the stream and see that paul did in fact say that?
Could you supply a link please? :)
So now it's just a matter of polish. :D Hopefully this will get people off of Paul's back for a while. ;)

I recall hearing that binary systems was something they were toying with, but isn't in at the moment. I suspect that's something that will see the light of day eventually. Patch or expansion/DLC is my guess. But guess is all it is. :)
I was expecting a reply because there's been so many posts, so much yelling, so much misunderstanding, so much back and forth, so many half words and half truths, that by now I would have expected a front page blog post the size of 3 screens tall.
For some strange reason there are no dev replies to this post at all..
There's no dev posts on a lot of threads. I'm not reading anything into it one way or another. Especially since they are probably very busy on the lead up to Beta 5. Besides, as I said before, IF production overflow isn't working as intented in Beta 5 I will submit a ticket on it. For some reason I think that
Also I learned that, apparently, research costs go up over time?
Yes they do. It was some source of chatter a while back, but is working as intended. AIUI, the devs either want it so that people can't just get early techs super cheaply if they wait on them or they want it so techs will always cost some amount of research for the players as they get more and more research points per turn. Mostly it

The problem with the ticket thing is, I THINK, trying to upload too large of a file. Anything over 20 meg or so and I have problems on occasion. I almost never have problems with files under 20 meg in size. I would suggest creating the inital ticket without the Stardock Support Zip file and then upload it once the ticket has been created. Alternatively, open up the zip file, take out one of the larger files (say the save file created), and then send that file
The one really big exception is, as you point out, the hyperion shrinker. It's carried over from past games, but with the changes to miniaturization and capacity, it doesn't really fit in. It's more like a hyperion grower.
I'll try to check it, too. But it can be difficult to tell with research. But I'll try.
Difficult, but not that difficult. I'd check it out in the early mid game when one can be cranking out 1500 to 2000 research points a turn. Set it up so you only have, say, 50 research points to research something, then save the game. Go to the next turn, find out how many research points it takes to com
