The tooltip for the Altarian tech Defensive Meditation says that it allows construction of the "Champion's Temple" but no such building becomes available after completing it.
If I remember correctly, long ago someone did do a B5 mod for Galactic Civilizations for OS/2.
I'm not sure what you mean by Mod 0 or Mod 13, but I'm seeing what might be the same or a similar problem. Also on 0.72 opt-in, I designed a ship and saved it, built several, used it as a model for an upgrade, built several of them, but then when I went back to design another upgrade I could not find my ship on the list. I had to design a new one from scratch. The last ship in the list doesn't look like it's showing completely, but it's not just half of i
This is still happening in Beta 4 0.72. Unfortunately it took me too long to remember that I had already posted this bug and the oldest save I have is one turn after this happened, so I still can't give you a saved game. Once again it happened when one of the AIs colonized a planet just before my colony ship would have colonized it.
The Benevolent ideology choice Quantum Leap says each colony gains 5 research per turn. But after choosing it, my colonies were producing .5 more research, not 5 more research. For example, one planet went from 10.9 to 11.4, and another from 15.1 to 15.6.
You're right, with 16G you should be able to play a large map. I've got 8G and am currently playing an immense map with no hangs or stutters (so far).
How much memory do you have and what is your virtual memory set at?
Only thing I can think of is to use Steam to verify your files, but you say you've already done that. Maybe someone else will have a better idea. I have a vague recollection of this happening to one or two people on an earlier beta.
A lot of us have noted that there are issues with text getting clipped off and/or not fitting within boxes provided, are you saying you're not seeing any text at all?
Playing as Yor, I researched the Low Mass Carrier tech, which says it reduces the mass of carrier modules. But after researching the tech, the carrier module remains the same 35 mass.
I decided to try an immense map for the first time without thinking about changing my usual settings for small maps, and now I find myself at turn 178 with 58 planets, the entire Malevolent Ideology tree, and a third of the way through Pragmatic, and I haven't even met any of the AI civilizations (all of them are out there somewhere). So I agree, Ideology needs to be scaled somehow.
Ok, so maybe I'm too obsessive about this stuff, but I just couldn't stand the errors in the ideology tree, particularly the one in Pragmatic that had 3 errors in one sentence. So I fixed them. Download CultureTraitText.xml from here.
After playing the Yor for a while I now definitely prefer the new system. I haven't gotten into late game yet, maybe my mind will change then. But for now, I find the new way much less tedious.
I very much agree.
Updated original post with a few more.
I'm 154 turns into my first try at an immense map, and haven't had any problems on my laptop that has 8 gig. Perhaps, as @Major Stress points out, that's because I've got a video card with its own 4 gig, so the video isn't eating away at my system ram. Task Manager shows GC3 is using 3.8 gig.
Since this seems like a definite bug, you might consider moving this thread to the support forum. Just edit the original post and change the category to "Support".
As a very (very) long-time GC player, who loves to play on large maps, I agree with the OP that some way (like being able to view the map) when managing planets and star ports is needed. When I've got a hundred planets it's hard to remember which ones are at the front lines and should be producing warship and defense projects and which ones are safely away from combat and could be building wonders.
I don't remember if this was reported before, but there are some typos in the Yor Power Matrix techs: And here's another one in the tooltip for theHyperion Logistics System, Reduses should be Reduces. And while I'm finding typos, here's one in the Malevol

I'm not having much success reproducing the vivid trade routes found in my original posts. However, it does seem easy to reproduce a nearly invisible trade route. I started a new game with the .71.1 opt-in beta, and after establishing my first trade route it looked like this: After saving and reloading, the trade route is nearly invisible: <img src="https://d
I've opened ticket #PPJ-131-20782.
Lucky Jack reported in reply #2 above that he had opened ticket #RAY-899-87620 for this problem. Do you need another ticket reporting the same problem?
Yes, I see that sometimes too. As I said in a post above, it's an intermittent problem.
Question (4) - If your trade route looks anything like the screen captures I posted in this thread then it's a bug that shows up when you load a saved game, nothing to do with pirates.
