Cancelling your order because of Steam is ridiculous. Do you only use physical media in all other aspects of your life? Do you always buy plastic cd's, no music downloads? Do you only read paper books? Nothing on an ereader or online? Do you not download apps on your phone? Physical media is almost dead. What a silly reason to not support Stardock and get a great game.
Designing ships can also be described as a tactical feature. Surely placement of a gun is not strategy... Why isn't anybody crying to get this feature out of the game?
Because designing ships is done pre-battle. Once the battle starts, you don't click ship A and tell it to turn and fire at ship B with guns 1,2, & 3...etc.
Is your avatar pic a GC3 Yor?
A visual thing: in GC 2 after you designed nice ships for everyone you found that the AI had the annoying habit to place weapons, engines, defenses and other upgrades in rather absurd spots and sizes, which often resulted in very strange looking AI ships. Maybe there could be something done to mitigate this prob, for example a size limit for those upgrades or the option to turn them to invisible. I'm not really sure if that&
Two more things: You should make changes to your account here: https://forums.stardock.com/user and not in the GC3 or GC2 or Elemental forums. It works better. Also to see your new avatar, sometimes you need to do a hard refresh (ctrl + f5).
It seems some people have a hard time accepting that tactical combat means less strategy. I guess it's the same people that would argue Europa Universalis 4 would be a better strategy game if it had Total War-style combat. They would write posts in the forums there saying: Wouldn't that be awesome to combine EU4 and Total War? Wow, it would be the best game ever made dudes...." They don't seem to understand tac

I hope they include some super powerful "nuclear option"
Yeah, Michael, you probably just had it set to auto. Almost every aspect of DW can be set to full auto to full manual and several steps in between.
If the GC3 system is pretty much like the GC2 system, but with some enhancements, I'll be very happy. I want to: 1. Design ships. 2. Arrange ships into fleets. 3. Watch my fleets do battle with enemy fleets using a (hopefully much better) combat viewer. If people want ship by ship, and gun by gun control, there's other games for that.
Brad- Can you confirm if the AI has to actually search for planets, or if they will have knowledge of, and will bee-line towards the good worlds from the outset, as in GC2? This is one thing that always bugged me.
https://stardock.cachefly.net/www_galciv3_com-assets/media/screenshots/ss4.jpg On the right side. There is only 1 queue for each planet.
Not sure I like that.
It would be cool if you could just customize the galaxy size. Just choose the parsec width. Then if your PC can handle it, it can handle it.
Based on the podcast it appears combat will be similar to GalCiv2, in that combat will be resolved automatically either way depending on your fleet makeup.
Good news.

If you make up a nice story, people will suspend disbelief. And that's the beauty of it all ) Oh I don't believe in evolution or Aliens. I thought people were saying that that couldn't happen, so I thought I would explain why if evolu
Quoting Martok, reply 339 That article isn't stating there won't be tactical combat in GalCiv3; it's just saying the combat won't be like that in the MOO series. That's fine with me, as I have little desire to micro-manage battles. You can still have tactical combat without needing to give commands to every single unit, however. Birth of the Federation and Armada 2526 are both example

I always name my own rulers each game anyway, so continuity of naming doesn't mean much to me. More importantly, I love the new design!
I like the new version. I always thought the design of the Altarians was kind of lazy...basically just humans with face tattoos and shoulder pads. This new design actually looks like a different race.
Any chance a small portion of the music could be released to the people who haven't pre-ordered yet?
MP will open up a wider market for Stardock. Mark my words. Provided that it works well, and that you can play the SP game as it is in MP with all setup options etc. They won't "dumb the game down" to fit fast paced MP, and I couldn't be happier about that. I like epic, large scale, strategical MP experiences. The grand SP game, but with some or all the opponents being serious NO QUITTER human play
We are not making any promises for MP to be "fun". I am skeptical on whether 4X MP can be fun outside of very small galaxies.
^Truth!
The default should be closed borders unless at war or some kind of "open borders" agreement is in place.
