Or maybe we just haven't been posting in the same threads much or something.

D'oh, bit strange to have a count down and then get rid of it before it hits zero, still I like the new site.
Seems a bit odd to do that with the time still counting down, I mean whats the point in having a count down if you don't let it hit 0? Ok I'll get over it stoked that the game is getting pretty positive reviews all round and a bit over excited about the launch. Which I didn't think I would be given I've been able to play for a long time already.
I believe it is something like that someone mentioned this on another thread it's restoring them from the game cache, not sure how you work around it search the forum as I say there was another thread a little while ago.
Island Dog, can we have the timer back?
Hi Charon2112 that's right you make a transparent 1920 x 1080 image with the actual character portrait as the only non-transparent bit so the background will show through behind them. Agreed if you can afford PS it's the best.
It's 7pm UK time, at least it was, the timer has disappeared but that's how it worked out before it did.
That's a very good review and echos my own thoughts about the game, generally great but certainly has a few bugs still. I also agree with the statement that given the scale of the game and the sheer fun it's forgivable . Pleased the bugs aren't dragging the score down, because at it's heart it is an epic game that just needs a bit more tweaking and bug fixing to be an all time classic.
If it works the way it looks like it works any translator in the community could do a translation mod I assume the sub-folder would have to have the right name to match the local settings on the machine to find which files to use might be good to test that. Spanish I think would be a very good idea as it is a very widely used language.
More like they forgot about the timer when they changed the background [e digicons]:'([/e]
No problem, I haven't used MS Paint for years. GIMP is by far the best free photo/image editing software but has a bit of a learning curve if you haven't used anything like it before and does a lot more than you probably need here. Not sure about Paint.net remember using it a couple of years ago before I found GIMP I would think it can do alpha since I remember it was much more capable than MS Paint. MS Paint is shameful in this day and age as an image editor, (I mean Microsof
I gave it and hit submit, then it went away forever [e digicons]:D[/e] and I read the rather good article.
Also haven't seen you guys around econumdrum1 and Ryat. Not on the Galactic Civilization III forums at least.
Really I've been posting a fair amount, particularly in the last 2 or 3 weeks and have been a tester since Alpha.
Not sure if MS Paint will save the alpha channel, try using gimp or maybe paint.net, I know gimp can do it and both are available free and can be found with a google search.
The game has an issue if you have two images with the same name I believe even if they are in different folders like a leader image and a startup image, that may be it.
I'm not dismissing it at all, just saying that because it's not a common issue it's likely to be fairly system specific and hence the OP would probably do better to raise a support ticket. No harm in posting it here, but I just wanted to suggest again that a support ticket was likely to be more productive for this sort of thing and no one had been able to help since this was posted on the 13th so I wanted to make sure they had raised a support ticket too.
I was enjoying the count down timer too, please bring it back Stardock.
Sorry I really think you need to raise a support ticket, it's not a common issue so I think you need proper help from support who will want technical details of your system and dump files.
It all really depends on the rights holder and if they have any objections, your right though most of them won't complain about a free mod violating their IP. I doubt the BBC will mind this Mod kind of free advertising for their show. Frustrating though to put a lot of work into a mod knowing the rights holder could ask for you to stop at any time if they wanted to.
While a negative review can certainly be as valid as a positive one, the review system is not the place to post constructive criticism. The reviews are meant to inform other people about the game, not tell Stardock where it could improve (though those could overlap).
I completely agree, the forums are the place for constructive criticism generally. Reviews are indeed to help others decide if they would like the game i
I was going to say could be the images, I assume you've checked the dimensions and file type all of that already, sounds like you have. Check there isn't some slight typo either in the reference to the image in you XML files or in the actual file-name, then get someone else to check it to. After years of programming I can tell you I've sometimes spent ages looking at code until my head aches looking for the cause of odd behavior only to find in the end it
Yes would be a nice addition.
I think on steam they remove things that violate ip but only if the rights owner requests it.
Interesting are you playing on single or multiplayer, be an interesting issue if it's the steam cloud saves, I have them on and no issues but it might depend how stable you network connection is if it's that.
