I have to say that personally I consider the release version of GC3 to have been a good and enjoyable 4x space game, while there is certainly room to improve it I thought it was good value for money. Further changes have now improved it further and I find it really enjoyable as is. But I do look forward to all the future additions and I'm pleased I paid to be an Elite Founder the major updates are like unexpected presents that suddenly turn up.

I have to say I agree with this and think the idea of Coercion is a great one, I also love the idea that the form of government you have will impact what controls you have over your empire that's a master stroke for making the different races play differently but will be hard to balance I imagine.

Hope the trading and domestic politics systems don't become too involved and through of the balance of the game. I've seen that happen in other games where adding too many features can become too distracting. But let's wait and see don't want to be negative about things being added before the fact. Generally I think the road map is looking great.

I have to confess I was always way to lazy to keep tweaking that wheel on all my planets all the time. I only used it in the first few turns on my home-world to speed the important initial research. By the time I had 6 or 7 planets I just set it to the center on all of them and left it. So obviously I won't miss it as I never really felt compelled to make much use of it. I think having the option to include it for those who are obsessive min-maxers though is a good idea.</
The thing about SPORE is, the game itself isn't popular, and never really has been. No-one really bothers to play it, because it's so mind-meltingly shallow and the first four stages are interminably mini-games. The Creature Creator and the house and vehicle designing and stuff are the heart of the community; actually playing the game is pretty marginal. It'd be kind of like if SD chose to forget all that boring empire-building st

I can see how in combination with the peace keepers event this becomes an issue certainly, maybe it needs to also automaticly establish diplomatic contact.

Generally I agree with the OP, I’m still enjoying watching the game evolve. DLC does not in any way worry me, (maybe because I get it all free anyway as one of the founders). But also because along with paid DLC they are adding stuff to the game for free too and the DLC helps finance that. Most game developers don’t add new features to their games for free for years after or AI enhancements; they are giving plenty away for free to people who bought the game.
I thought the mega events were free. Now you have to pay for it? You Devs are getting greedy and losing once long-term fans. Sorry, this is pure greed and you haven`t even fixed the game yet. Shame on you.
No the Mega Events system has been implemented in a patch for free along with a number of Mega Events (additional content stardock are giving you for nothing). The Mega Events DLC is actually a b
Holy shit, people are actually defending this? This was a basic feature in GC2 which has been stripped away and repackaged as DLC for the sequel. This is the kind of scummy shit I expect EA to do, not Stardock. "But there are Mega Events in the base game too!" -- Yeah, the boring vanilla ones. Want something interesting to happen in your game? Better fork over $5!.
Sorry I really don't have

Is anyone else here using Blender to create leader portraits? I actually think it’s a lot easier to get good looking results by modelling shading and texturing them rendering than it would be to produce assets purely in a 2D package like GIMP. Have to say although I’m still learning to use it properly I have done some modelling and playing with shading and rendering as well as seeing what more experienced people can do and Blender is one of the most amazing bits of free so

I think it's common when games make it easy to upload custom content to workshop you normally get; 70% of custom content uploaded being half-finnished, hastily done, poorly fleshed out and buggy. About 20% well polished and interesting. About 10% real gems that everyone should download. The thing is the 70% of rough and poorly thought out stuff will probably be actually more like 90% in the first months since good well fleshed out custom content that is pro
To be honest I would have hoped they spent this month fixing the AI and a few other bugs & crashes. Love the fact that we get content, but the AI is dumb. Little bit disappointed.
The people working on the maps aren't the people who would work on the AI, as I understand it improving the AI is mostly Brad's hobby and he will I'm sure have been spending time on it. 1.1 did have
all the events for the Yor is based on organic life, why would the Yor care that tourist are dying due to toxins in the air while looking at a beautiful sunset, and so on.
With you on this one, been asking them to add filters to the event system since Beta5, it's the reason I don't play as Yor or other synthetics at the moment, it's very immersion breaking when you are playing.
Much simpler: allow planets to "sponsor" starbases just like they currently sponsor shipyards. Then divert production directly to starbase upgrades, without constructor ships at all (which are abolished, other than for the initial creation of the starbase, to determine location). Show the progress bar directly in the starbase window.
This is the solution I tend to prefer.

On another note I'm having a great time learning to model in blender, you see I though even though I need to produce 2D art assets for my factions it would be best to model and render them through blender to get good shading, texturing and lighting effects and it means if they add proper video support for mods I can rig and animate them too.

It takes time to produce good mods, and not all the mods people have produced currently fit steam workshop it only covers ships and factions at the moment. Give it time the game hasn't been out long, it often takes time for a lot of mods to appear particularly for a complex game like this and they've only just started to add limited workshop support.

I'm working on a factions mod but I'm not ready to show it yet the art assets are taking a lot of time as will tech tree modding and I don't have a lot of time so probably a couple of month from making it public have tried a few custom factions.

It doesn’t really matter if the current system is good or not, if you are requesting a change then you will find being rude gives people no incentive to co-operate or take you seriously. Responding to people trying to point this out to you with more cheap insults is unlikely to improve the way people perceive you; yes I know you will respond to that with “What do I care what you losers think of me, yada, yada, yada”. I had a friend who was like that in his teens, it

Most people probably are waiting for the proper 1.1 release, in addition with the time I have the mod I'm working on will take some time particularly was I'm trying to produce art assets through Blender rendering for it. I think there will be plenty of mods start to appear once the 1.1 patch is out of beta.
