This may be of help in explaining how windows manages virtual memory and how to increase the amount it uses. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/change-virtual-memory-size#1TC=windows-7 Keep in mind however that be it Windows virtual memory or a memory management system for virtual memory implemented in the game paging in and out data from virt

Windows 64 bit can just adress more RAM than the 32bit windows which limits a game to 2Gb ram max and the whole system to 4Gb since in 32 bits you can't hold a bigger address range. 64 bit systems can address a lot more memory though this is limited on some 64 bit OS for instance Windows 7 Home Premium can address up to 16Gb of RAM. You don't need to know how windows manages it's virtual memory in the main it just does it on modern versions of windows though you can set a

I wish they had put a count on the number of entries in the list so I didn't have to keep counting rows just to find out how many Elite Founders there are at present....

Submitted mine this morning waiting for it to be approved can’t see why it wouldn’t be. But yes some good names and only a couple of slightly lame looking ones accepted so far.

Ok can I ask am I the only one who can’t see how the Thalan body can work biomechanically speaking? They are kind of humanoid in GC3 but with awkwardly jointed arms that are long and kind of on backwards and look like they would give both hand eye co-ordination issues since their eyes face forward but their arms are mostly behind them, and balance issues because their arms look big and heavy and hang a long way behind them. Now I’m all

The Intro generally was great one thing though the Thalians look rather lame like humanoids with their arms on backwards, it's not that I think all aliens should be humanoid just that those arms don't look like they could be co-ordinated very well with the rest of it's body. The way it's arms fit it's body just doesn't look like it's practical for hand eye co-ordination. Think they should be re-though. Having said that

So looking at one of the jpg files in the vault it looks like we will be able to blend multiple textures over either all or parts of our ship…looks like they are really enhancing the ship customisation which was already great in GC2. Can’t wait to get my hands on this. Love to know what other new features we can expect on the ship builder.

In Galciv they have the unique natural ability to channel cosmic energy and their home world is a rich source of cosmic energy. In elemental they can channel the power contained in the elemental shards on their world to do "magic" . So basically channeling magic in elemental is the same thing as using cosmic energy in galciv3 but gc3 scale means this magic equates to some racial bonuses for being able to channel this energy.

You see they did kind of develop technology to do something like this for elemental. I'm wondering how hard it would be to port in here the main work would probably be the pallete of art asset parts. I belive this uses the same basic engine as elemental. Mind you the art assets would take some time and budget.

I agree 100% they look great and it's certainly possible to render your own movies in the Bink format but takes a lot of artisitic talent and time. A bit's kit for creating races similar to the ship designer could be very cool and much easier way of adding a hudge amount of customisation. Though I am pleased I can at least use my own still images. I'm wondering if they could provived an in game rendered kit's part solution for custom races while keeping

Named mine Isa which was my wife's nickname as a child because she couldn't say her name properly when she was 3...See sure she won't mind I spent £75.99 on this now [e digicons][/e]

Let me start by saying I think that the rendered leaders so far in the game look great, but they also look pre-rendered and please tell me Stardock if I am wrong. The issue with this is race customisation; one of the things that has always bothered me in these types of game is that custom races tend to have to reuse art assets like diplomacy movies from the base races. In a game like GC2 and now GC3 where you have so much freedom over ship design this can be especially

As it's 64 bit only the memory constraints are really going to be how much ram you have in your system. I too loved gc2 and all expansions and still play it at times. I too was disappointed by elemental. But feel that in the end stardock made things right for those of us who bought into elemental early. I can say from a brief try of the alpha for gc3 while it's far from complete it is shaping up to my liking and &n

Might work, actually it's more the time I spend playing these games she tends to get annoyed about I can just not mention how much it cost. [e digicons]:X[/e] . Actually I felt a bit odd about spending that much on a game. But how could I resist GC2 with all the expansions is probably just about my favourite game ever and I've been gaming 29 years [e digicons][/e] .

I have to find time to get online and finish my steam download tonight so I can associate it with my Stardock account and see what you are talking about. this is agonising.......... Just have to find away to do it with out admitting to my wife I spent £75.99 last night on a game [e digicons]>_>[/e] that's still in aplha....

I agree they will all count as "Altarians", but the different factions within that species are probably based on racial heritage e.g. which human/Fallen faction or factions they are descened from.

I too would like to be able to customise art assets for custom races in some way be good to have an system for doing this in game but I do have blender.

Welll one of the Altarian factions is clearly descended from the Wraiths of Elemental, one is descended from the other human factions, I wonder what other factions survive into GC3. I rather like the hint of elemental cross over so long as it's not too in your face.

On (7) a slightly different skin pigment is hardly a hudge difference in pysiology after all humans show variation in skin pigments why can't Alterans and why should their variations match ours? After all even if they share a common ancestory with us they have evloved in isolation for some time. Anyway if you follow Ware of Magic Fallen entrantress she is clearly descended from the wraiths :-). The main point is minor differences in variation
