... As such I would rather see 1.3 focus on making the game fun and challenging rather than dealing with UI issues next (which would ideally come right after in 1.4 maybe). In order of preference... 1. A button to let us skip all remaining idle ships to end a turn. 2. A button to let us destroy all of a certain type of structure on a planet (eg. destroy all labs). 3. Make the planet screen under the "Govern" tab focus on the selected planet so we can see where it is on the map. Either that or make any planet we manage the current focus on the map. That would do the same thing. 4. A sortable list

1. Ship design is pretty much mandatory, especially on the higher levels. You can specialize a ship to a particular purpose and become so much more efficient. Why build a long range colony ship when your target planet is within your borders? Maybe add an engine to speed it up instead. That sort of thing. 2. I'd say to watch a few battles until you see how different ships and weapons perform. Then you can just build missile ships and carrie
Make sure you pick up the 1.2 update. The AI is substantially better.
I concur. Before, I could just build a few fleets of carriers and take an entire AI's navy out. I'm now losing about 30% of my battles due to better AI fleet management. It's forcing me to get off my lazy @ss and build even better fleets. That, coupled with the higher tech costs upps the challenge. I'm loo
I love this patch news, especially concerning AI and events. I hope much more will be done for the AI though. I haven`t played for a couple of months and a bit since I realised the AI wasn`t actually ready yet. Just one other thing: Why the ability to print ships out in 3d? I just checked how much one of these 3D printers cost. It isn`t cheap by a long shot. Who, except some guy with more money than sense is going to spend

I'd like to refute that, but I can't. The AI for GalCiv2 was written by Brad, who is a genius programmer. Being a programmer myself, I'm not saying that lightly. Of course, he had help and all of us contributed in part by posting our strategies so he could improve his AI. The GalCiv2 AI was rules based and the GalCiv3 one is modular. It has the ability to learn form us, although I saw some of that learning in the GalCiv2 one as well. GalCiv3 h
Does this patch address the bug in the 300+ turn range where the turn never ends and it just greys the button out? The one with the workaround here: https://forums.galciv3.com/469652/page/1/
Evidently not. I'm on 1.2 and my newest game just stuck on "Idle Ship" on turn 91. Like the other times, there are ships under the planet icons that didn't go into o

I reported this via PM a while back with a savegame and basic description, but I never heard anything back. Evidently, PMs don't do much good to report bugs. So here it is again in the public forum. You can send a ship anywhere on the map if you land that ship on a planet or a shipyard and launch it from there. For instance, early game, get the 3 free constructors, land them on your homeworld or shipyard. Launch them from there anywhere on the map. When they get

There's a new button that says to register and get free DLC. As an elite founder, I already have the DLC anyway. Does this new button mean anything and is there a compelling reason to register?

@TMPhoenix - yeah, my bad. B, not M. Makes me wonder about the 1 mil even more. I have 32GB of RAM and the game doesn't seem to be wanting more than 11GB at its max. Something else is going on. @ID - I'm not getting the CTDs now that I whittled the AI fleets down. In fact, it was because of a CTD caused by an AI trying to talk to me that I attacked. Otherwise, I'd have a useful savegame. I did post one from an earlier turn when I reported the Krynn carr
Your mighty armada should include a fleet of fast constructors.
Or just one constructor with more than one module. Use one module to create the starbase, eject the ship and upgrade it to a similar constructor with more than one module. It'll only take one turn as long as you're within your ZOC. 2 turns if you're just outside. Lather, rinse and repeat.

I've never seen the Altarian leader smile, although she once had a poker face and was nodding her head at me. That might be as friendly as she gets. Even then, they DOWed shortly thereafter. They've DOWed all but one game so far, and I got tired of their existence and attacked them in that one. I guess I could have tried for a dipo victory, but they're tattooed blue arrogant fools. They need to die. I like the Krynn though. They look

In my current and last game (both godlike insane maps), I have an AI with one planet that can't be invaded or culture flipped. I abandoned the last game due to a bug, but the only way to take the AI out was to use the benevolent ideology trait that makes all planets in your zone of control flip. I don't remember the AI's race in that one. In my current game, it's the Yor. I've taken all but this one last planet and have used individual transports

I concur. Starbases will extend your range across the whole galaxy, even on an insane map. A few life supports on custom ships can get you anywhere on the map when combined with the starbases. I build mining starbases when possible, but a lot are just influence ones to extend my range.

An update - A trade offer came up and crashed the game, so I reloaded and attacked the strongest AI, which was the only one left with a significant military. I had a thought that the number of ships that AI owned might be causing an overflow similar to the one when you get close to a million bcs. I do find it odd that a 64 bit game can't handle a number above 1 million, but I digress. After attacking the strongest AI, the trade offer didn't reappear and I wiped out

Or do I need a second Steam account, before I buy another time the game. Thank you. P.S

I keep getting CTDs on my current game. It's the same one where I reported that the Krynn Carriers are using Transport Icons and the one where I reported the stuck on "Idle Ship" bug. Insane map, vanilla races, godlike difficulty. The save game is in my Krynn Carriers bug thread. There's no warning that it's about to happen. All seems to be going well and the game just disappears from the screen. I have to save the game several times per turn
