Maybe experience players know this, but it would be nice to see max productivity/research/wealth before placement based on current settlement. For example: I just took over a colony, and I am Durantium refinery, I can either place with next to 2 basic factories, Antimatter Power Plant and a Solar power plant Or I can place it next to 4 basic factories, Antimatter Power plant, so is 2 basic factories bonus better than Solar Powerplant bonus? I don't c

It would be great if you could check a distance before you commit a ship to move. Example I have 2 ships at two different locations, and they both look about the same distance from target. Is one closer? Is the target within striking range, can I build a ship quicker at a close shipyard if its going to take more than one move. A simple shift-Right mouse or Cntrl-right mouse or any combination with ship selected will give you path and distanc
Question on ships (near/under) a planet? How do you kill them. I try to move my ships to attack but instead they dock with the planet?
One game I hadn't researched any of the bigger hulls, so I built "Glass cannons" out of cargo ships! Lots of weapon weight, no armor/hp.
Ok, love the space battles, but just coming from playing CIV-Beyond Earth I also love planet battles. Similar to how you have "quick" battle and long battle, you could make it so planet battles are played out. Something akin to BERT, where you make landfall and the rest of the Planet is built out with enemy force, and you need to conqure them (game within a game). Or you could have it take several turns (weeks) where each turn is played out with each turn of GCIII.
One attack strategy I have been using lately (last 3 games) is try to get UP leadership (which gives 50% influence buff), then work on Influence. Then when I attack an enemy I try to cut them in half taking out the planets with the most influence. This leaves most of their remaining planets in my ZOC. Shortly after they start swapping over because of culture flip. Last night I had saved my Benevolent Enticing till I did this. I attacked 2 neighbors at once cutting swath
Another thing I do is rather than create a large fleet to fend off war is I just make planets 'Un-invadable". Research the one which makes your planets almost invulnerable (looks like bubble gum ball machine - forget name). This way they just spend their time trying to invade till I'm ready to retaliate. If it goes on long enough they actually realize they are not getting anywhere and offer peace (this this takes a while). Worst is you lose Starbases which are not protec
I have that problem as well, though in recent games it seems to be less of an issue as I seem to be able to quell their anger by making favorable trades (in their favor).
Yep - usually dedicate homeworld to production first. I also either strive for "Scary" under Awe (Malevolent/Ideology) as my second pick of Ideology, which greatly helps (I think) with ur neighbors. Also as others suggest in solo game, I use trade (early) to trade with others which builds up relations.
They may have ships left, and my guess is they are "under" one of the planets. When a faction swaps because of influence or surrender, any ships that were on the planet rarely move out from under that planet.
Yeah, moving more than 5 hex it seems to adjust it taking an "outside" loop. If I make lots of small moves it works as expected (other than having to manually plot the ships course).
When you are playing immense games it's very hard to remember all the factions' names. I suggest and would like it when a faction ask's you something: They have their logo posted in corner of foreground/background image The enemy they are requesting you to attack also has it's logo posted somewhere? You could underneath the message (since there is often plenty of room) post something like <img src="https://hydra-media.cu
I like gauntlet's pirates.
There are 4 modules, 2 that speed up and 2 that slow down. Hyperfield Projects(Fast) Gravity Field Manipulation(slow) Hyperfield Disruption(slow) Stellar Field Projection (fast) So far I have only built the ones that speed up(Hyperfield Projection).
I think the AI needs a bit of work on moving through a slipstream (around starbase) unless I understand the mechanics wrong. When you have slipstream up for a starbase passing anywhere in it's zone of control gives you that benefit, while ships with the AI pathing them seem to skirt the outside of the ZOC. This in many most cases is longer. If it only works along the outside, or they get a bigger benefit from the outside it would be nice
Question is does population affect Influence/Culture? I also read it really doesn't help to have a "Influence" planet (exception maybe near border or planet trying to flip).
Did you by chance go Negative Treasury? If so the game moves the governer to "Income" only so yeah, you need to wait till you have a positive income again.
The white lines I get when I run it a lot or restart a LOT. Seems to have a memory leak and eventually crashes. I suggest restarting the client/program and run again.
Nm - found it, https://forums.galciv3.com /473002/page/1/ Re-Enable Planetary Wheel
Ok, Created a new faction, then got more into it and started customizing it more and more, so ended up deleting it and creating it in XML (rather than through editor). The problem I see now is you can't edit it, basically you have to copy it, then edit the copy. I like to play different ways, try out different things, it would be nice if there was a way I didn't have to copy the race.
I know on patch 1.4 they removed the default planet govern ability, but I had read somewhere (or seen in video) how to manually reset it via a "Game" file setting. I thought it was an .ini file setting, but somewhere you can set it so you can manually govern your planets (after 1.4). Does anyone have link to post or video where/how to reset this? After my last update I lost the setting and forget where it was (my searching fu is not what it used to be).
Q? Can I add new basic ships beyond what the base faction styles use? Do I just add a new [ShipClass]? What if anything else is needed?
New question - what is the best item for spacers - probably the smallest?
Believe I figured this out looking at Gauntlet's designs. Gauntlet has what I want to call "spacers" which "stretch" out from his models.I put in 3 of these and it seems to scale the ship. As you can see in the screenshot below I have the ship three times, #1 doesn't have any scaling, #2 has "spacers" and #3 has "spacers" but further extended. Also discovered you need to have the spacers "visible" as you can't hide them. <img src="http://miniworld.com/galac
It would be nice especially during design mode to "Turn off" animation with a single click. I don't want to remove it, but trying to modify a ship with animation can be difficult.
