New Faction (XML based) unable to edit?

Ok,

Created a new faction, then got more into it and started customizing it more and more, so ended up deleting it and creating it in XML (rather than through editor). The problem I see now is you can't edit it, basically you have to copy it, then edit the copy.

I like to play different ways, try out different things, it would be nice if there was a way I didn't have to copy the race.

XML Races are locked from editing by the in game editor, they are classed as "core" races. Copy then Edit is the only way to do it atm.
