Ok, I did a simple test and added 4 parts and it still seems way out of proportion to other ships I download. This is built using Cargo hull, then small square (normal scale) and everything attached to it. As you can see from the screenshot below my "ship" is so much larger than terran scout. I've uploaded the ship to Steam at the following link. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=

Yep - most buildings give bonuses based on their level. for example research buildings will give bonus to research etc.
Ok, trying to work on ships, and I found some I like, but they seem too big when you actually get to "detail" view. So I tried redesigning them from the ground up and not sure if it's the parts or what but it still turned out way too large. Is there a way to scale the ship? Any why would mine be coming out so large?
Hyperion Shrinker - when you raise it levels (by the surrounding Military buildings) it adds 5% per level. So if you put a +2 military building next to it, it will be level 2, which will give it an additional +10%. Here is the thread I found out about it from (just last week). https://steamcommunity.com/app/226860/discussions/1/617336568073294387/
Another 31) During trades, way to see where a tech that is being offered is in my tech tree? - do I have the previous tech? - do I have another tech specialization of that tech (very important) - is it a jump in my tech (skipping past several known techs).
yeah, I used to destroy them but noticed they seemed to stack - nice for confirmation.
Non expert. #2) this I believe applies to all ships (one of the few). They (experts) suggest to build it on a planet of it's own and surround it by all the other Military buildings. This will allow you to get a boost of 50%+ to all your ships. I also look for a planet which has Military improvement tile (besides the buildings). if you can get both a +3 improvement along with a +2 improvement your cranking!!!! (rare to get both though close enough to work). B
What I did was take the two files from the game folder and made copies of them. I then deleted all but one faction and removed the Tutorial and campaign ships. Then I made a single ship and swapped it for one of the other ships (Colony). This worked, so I had all the default ships except for the one colony ship. This is the best way I think for newbies as it's the easiest to do. (what would b
For resources I often trade them away early in the game for other Factions tech. Since I don't usually use them till mid/late game. Though I like the thought of an early scanning ship (may have to try that - though thinking that by the time I get it won't need it for planet colonization).
ok - haven't done any of this but want to, so a basic question, when designing ships I assume you have to "equip" them as if they will be armed at the specific point? or does it add the equipment when you hit specific tech levels? was able to answer my own question, no, at least with the one ship I designed so far it automatically equipped the ship.
Sorry, I guess I am not asking clearly. There is a ship that I download from Steam workshop that I would love to move from one hull size (cargo) to another hull size(medium). Is there a way to do that? I don't believe so because there is no XML, or does downloading a ship from Steam workshop create an "append" xml file? Or would I have to define my own XML which would override the template I download?
1) Yeah, first few games it seemed like I was overpowered as well. I switched it down to easy just to get used to the game, and after a single game I was able to switch it back. I'm now starting to boost individual factions up in power. 2) answered above. 3) First your initial transport has the shortest range, the ones you buy will have more range. I always send it out which has the most stars (a chain of stars close together). That way even i
Horemvore, I looked at the guide which talks about new ship styles and such, but I am asking if I download a ship from Steam, where is the XML that i need to modify? or does it add it to the ShipBlueprintDefs.xml? Thanks
Np. - can I just overlay 4.8 over 4.5 or do I need to do a clean install?
Doh - that was it. I had checked in the main menu options "Show all ships" but forgot the options in the shipdesigner itself. Should be one setting or both "options" should have the setting to set. Thanks
Ok, I just purchased mercenaries DLC along with Builders Kit DLC, and I go into the ship designer (after unlocking on window console) and I seem to be missing all the old parts, definitely the old "groupings". I used to see the different parts by race and such. Now I only have two selectors at top - Size/Type. definitely seem to be missing the other races parts? Or now can you only see the race of the ship you select?
Gauntlet - Downloaded your mod finally and tried installing int. I got an error with the GSM folder C:\Users\vlos\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods\GSM\Game\GalCiv3GlobalDefs.xml(1262,19): error: element 'TutorialCampaignInternalName' is not allowed for content model '(MaxNumTurns,CreditsAndPowerCap,DefaultTileMoveCost,MinTileMoveCost,ExploreTileRandomRange,MinManufacturingSlider,StartImprovementLevel,StarbaseModuleSalvageMult
Ok when I got 116 planets (and growing) and I need to find my planet that has a specific building it would be nice. Even attempting to go through all the planets is hard enough because a lot of the buildings look the same which makes it near impossible. So the ability to search your planets. Specific building Ships in orbit Also another feature that would be nice, is I had one of the buildings (culture) which allowed one per Gala
My question is on designing the parts themselves. For example I am trying to design a decent missile turret. and in trying to get the missile ports to line up I can't seem to do it properly. So wondering how other people do this? Do you scale up really large and design things, then scale it down when you import it? Is there a way to make even finer adjustments without scaling?
So trying to get more serious about modding and start making parts. The problem I am having is the level of adjust in the details. How do you experts get the great level of details and make things align properly, scale properly etc.? The adjustment scale seems to "gross" when I am working at that level (scale)? Do you scale things up when designing parts and then scale the part down when import? or how do you do it? Thanks
Thanks all, yes Horemovore, I was/am looking to mainly adjust the hull. For example all my scanning ships I like to look the same (or similar) etc. Guess I will have to learn how to edit ships in the XML. :) Question? Where is the ship XML located? Directory, not seeing it under the designs folder?
Hey all, was wondering, there are some great ships out there though often I want them as a different size than the mod/ship. Is there a way to convert a ship to a different size. I have tried selecting pc's to export but unless the ship is designed properly it usually fails... Would be nice.
It would be really a great feature to be able to decommission an entire fleet. Nothing worse than late in the game when you have powerful new ships and large old fleets sitting idle around.
Be nice to move multiple fleets at once. AI seems to do it. ALso moving them in a formation (not the same hex). So if I have two or more fleets a hex or more apart and then multi select them and move as group. Nice for scanning and such.
these sound good, like the range thing, though the ship tells you the range left when selected, but I dont want to count every hex...
