[Resolved] BUGS! LOTS OF BUGS! WHY CAN I NOT PLAY AS THE CIVILIZATION I WANT TO PLAY AS?!?

Alright this is driving me up the wall. I've been trying to play galciv3 for a few days now, and I don't know if a patch screwed something up or what, but every time I try and choose a faction for a custom game, like say... "the United Federation of Planets" instead of loading up the Civ that I WANT....I get the UNSC, or the Thalans, or the Drengen, or the F***ING DALEKS!

and that isn't even everything, oh no, sometimes when I try to start a game, it will think that I haven't selected any opponents, when THERE ARE CLEARLY SIX CIVS SET TO RANDOM WITHOUT ME NEEDING TO DO ANYTHING.

And to top everything off the UI for the planetary management screen AND the ship builder, has a bunch of white lines/sploches running through the text boxes.

Is this happening to anybody else or is it just me?

Try reinstalling your graphix driver first. Do a clean install under 'advanced' options tab. Then reinstall. Then go into your steam account and click on Gal Civ III and go to 'properties' then go to 'validate files' You want steam to look at and rebuild if needed any files that may be corrupted or dmged.

Try doing those two things first.

Also,

What is your processor, the amount of ram you have and the type/name of your video card and the amount of ram on it? Knowing these things can help us (the community) try and help you nail down (and hopefully solve) the problem you are having.

On a side note, the issue you seem to be having sounds like a driver issue but lets eliminate that issue first.

The white lines I get when I run it a lot or restart a LOT. Seems to have a memory leak and eventually crashes.

I suggest restarting the client/program and run again.

OK I ran the verify integrity of game cache tool and it came up with 2 corrupted files, that seems to have done the trick.

ashura01,

I haven't heard of this before.  If you start getting random faction again, please file a ticket with support and we'll take a look.  Thanks!
