I have never had such a message, so far. I don't build culture star bases, outside my ZOC, because they don't seem to have the dramatic effect that they did in GCII, and I have not yet had a complaint about mining or relic bases. I may see that in the future, but nothing yet.

Maybe they need to add a tech that addresses FTL communication, scanning, etc. The Ansible, (Ender's Game), Hyperspace Communication, whatever. There could be modules that stack, if one insists. :)
Actually all of your points comfort me a little, I'll still try the game, maybe only after the espionage expansion though. I guess I only saw the streams that didn't mention espionage. But again, in order to win with influence you have to expand, and to expand you have to have ship combat. I am sure if you play the largest map possible, the odds are going to be against you as the AI will make sure to pick a civilization and elimin

Probably sued for peace a few times. :) I sometimes get the feeling that a few players resent the fact that influence victo
I am pretty sure they did in GCII, but I agree they should flip., also shipyards should go to the owner of the planet.
I agree that getting rid of the default designs permanently would be a bad thing; but.... Is there anyway to permanently delete a design I made? I've got about four versions of the same design that I worked on and I only want to keep one of them. Granted I can just make them obsolete each time I start a new game; but I'd like to get rid of them permanently. If I keep using the ship designer
That being said, however, I agree that the technology level should limit the maximum sensor range depending on the size of the platform (a small ship could not employ a sensor array on the same scale that a starbase could, for example).
Yeah, but the ones I build are huge and look more like a star base than a ship :)
I think multiple sensors are not realistic. If I have a radar set that can see 100 miles, putting a second one on a ship wouldn't make it 200 miles. The limit of the radar is unchanged. That is how it should be here as well IMO.
It's all good... Blaze, I see your point and I am certain you have the best interests of the game in mind. It seems cheesy and you want the game to be free of cheese. It is
You and I understand choices differently in 4X games. To me, the point is to have decisions that are either one thing or another, mutually exclusive options, or combinations that don't work as well as others. Stardock seems to like to put in ways for people to then get around those obstacles There is the option to do AI trading, or some other clever ideas people will come up with. I agree with Bandorf, plus the OP mentioned two fantasy games that he might as well play. If he sees no difference in a fantasy game and a scifi game, we are missing some common ground for a conversation on this subject. As for who wins what androshalforc's point is well taken, but many factors go into winning a game. A small map with up to 3 opponents was quite winnable by influence in GCII. If they haven't nerfed influence to the point victory is unattainable, I expect it wi
I had noticed it wasn't in the fix list. Sorry to hear it is still with us. It has been reported many times and several tickets are on record. Maybe it will get their attention this week. It is a bastard, and it make multiple surveyors almost useless.
If you trade an on-planet resource, do you lose the adjacency bonus as well as the empire wide bonus? I figured not but thought I would ask.
But if i have 2 starbases with zero G will I get 20%? 10 from each and not 10 from the first and then 7 for the second or something.
No, individual star bases do stack. That is the reason some of our power players have figured out how to put 4 econ bases around their planets. That's a little too intense for me but I still think 10% (and there is another bonus above that) is nothing to sneeze at when you are going
Is anyone else seeing the mining resources all gone white?
You are going to have to delete your custom ships from your doc files in My docs/My games/GCIII/designs
Well for one thing the choice is always better. There are other ways to get around cheaper and smaller but better stands alone.
I have an issue with allowing people to change the star names. People paid extra to get the honor of naming the stars, so people should not be able to change the star names. Also if you have an issue with the star names, just suck it up. It is no different then the planets being named after Greek/Roman mythology. What if you are Muslim or some other religion, or an atheist, are you going to go cry and try to c
You can choose any or all of the weapons, but you will have to choose between reduced mass, better accuracy, or less cost (or whatever the 3 things are) for all weapons.
Okay, that makes a little more sense, I seldom get around to all the choices anyway. It's still not the neatest idea this year but it is bearable.
I didn't see the dev stream. Did they say that if I choose beam specialization I can no longer use kinetic weapons or missiles? That would be a deal breaker for me and it truly saddens me. I hope no one tells our military planners about this. It is one thing to block a tech like solar sails vs Ion drive, but to block an entire weapons tech is beyond stupid. I'll be waiting around for a mod and still unhappy that the bases game has left me at the alter. :)
Abundant habitable planets on an insane map would have to be well over 500,and that could be a low estimate.
4) Starbases currently seem like an inefficient use of resources for the rewards given. Any plans to buff their usefulness? Noteworthy: Starbase modules of the same type currently don't stack, and therefore offer very little bonus. If they were just made additive instead, starbases would feel about right considering the investment of so many constructors. This would also fix how weak they are militarily, if the bonuses were add

I am not bothered by it so much. If I find a surveyor or a colony ship in my ZOC I immediately try to buy it or trade for it. The going rate for a surveyor is about 1000 bc, and a colony ship is about 6-700. If you can afford it the surveyor will repay you many times over in the course of the game. I think the colony ship is a bargain by giving you the ship and more importantly 2.5 billion in population and one less SI planet. Neverminding that, I can see your point and it wou
