Thanks for the advice Gauntlet. I frankly doubt that I am up to it with the tools available. It seems that pronounced texture and engraving is key to the designs that I have in mind. The ship building tools in the game are great and some nice texture is available but not to the extent of the pictured ship. I looked through the posted designs and one of the better designs other than yours was from Gizmo..., who said that he invests at least 12 hours into his designs. Obviously that kin

Texture may be the problem look at this Harkonnen ship. I scaled it down for the forum but you can see it is all about texture. I am not particularly creative and I am klutzy with the designer tools, so I'm not sure I am up to it. I have managed to build a few that are middlin popular on the Steam Workshop, but they were pr

Why don't you use some system with your ships? If I build medium sized Reaper in a game it is Reaper M1. If I modify it later it becomes Reaper M2, and I don't overwrite Reaper M1. I'm not saying I don't eventually have a clutter that needs to be cleaned up, but I don't have to create a new ship every game. My problem is making too many designs that are not much different than others, just because I like to design ships.

LOL, my grandson is a MLP person, so I sort of understand. I don't understand why it was banned and the others weren't. I doubt you are going to get an answer from Steam. There are voice actors involved. It is possible that the actor for Applejack happened to become aware of your use of the image and complained. I am sure that Steam would not hesitate to remove any faction if a complaint is lodged.

Deathwynd, I really like this mod but I wish you could fix it to where it does not zero out the existing faction traits when you edit a faction. If you decide not to edit and cancel you are left with zero traits. There are times when I need to revert to standard traits and it would be neat if there were and off/on choice for this mod without having to redo all the traits that were there before, if you get what I mean. :) Obviously, when using this mod if you upload a faction t

Hi Gauntlet, I have been thinking about trying to build a ship set in a style of an ancient humanoid race based on a style of futuristic, imperial opulence. I am thinking of the Dune style ships and/or the ships in Jupiter Ascending. The ships would not necessarily be in in good taste but built by a race that is so wealthy and advanced they can indulge any style whim that they wish, regardless of functionality. I was wondering if you could give me some ideas on whether or not the ship

As of today, the workshop will only feature ship templates. All weapons and other equipment are stripped from the upload. I have no idea why they changed this. I certainly prefer to subscribe to a ship already outfitted. It is not a huge deal I guess, but the placement of weapons engines, modules, etc. added a lot to the appeal of many of the designs and they look a bit sterile with everything stripped.
The latest changes look good. How do you get to the console now, though? The ' or ~ key doesn't seem to work anymore.
You have to use a cheat exe shortcut to the game now, as it was with GCII Make a new shortcut and paste in the target below "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\GalCiv3.exe" cheat Use that shortcut

It is still showing opt-in for me, but the delete function is working now and the workshop activity has picked up a lot. If it has gone to final release I can't see it. I thought you had deleted the post, but I guess the point they were making is that the 1.1 opt in was advertised as sketchy and perhaps subject to unannounced fixes. I would certainly assume they will announce the final release, if it has not been done yet.
Try un-checking this option, to see if Steam re-installs those factions after doing so. http://sd.stardock.com/brad.ather/Jingimages/2015-07-08_1541.png
No that does not work. The solution posted by P-DEX is the only way I have found to get rid of the factions in question. The delete selection no longer works at all for any in

The portrait is not used for the start screen or the diplomatic screen. It uses the foreground image. This image must be positioned correctly (basically centered) to work right. This might be the problem or maybe it's something else. Post a screen shot if you can.

Thanks P-DEX, that worked. I am a control freak when it comes to my computer, and this was driving me crazy. :)

There was some kind of game update that downloaded today and I can no longer delete factions. If you unsubscribe they are deleted but I have several that I need to delete that the originator has taken off of the workshop and I can not unsubscribe. If I go to my files and delete them from faction Steam re-installs them. Is there some way to stop Steam from restoring the files? I have turned off anything I can find about cloud in Steam properties. This is driving me nuts. Anyone else ha
