Ahh, thanks for both answers. The loss of "Farm" for Terrans is harsh. I hadn't thought that saved templates from the older Beta might carry over. I appreciate that nugget. I will use templates more often now. It also means that the templates are stored at the Steam Mothership, because mine followed me to China where I'm using a computer that never played GCIII in the States.

It's a fact that an act can be benevolent or malevolent without knowing the actor's intent. I can wish a million dollars to you, and that is benevolent, whether or not I am your heir. And whether as your heir I plan to terminate you later, or not. [quote who="joeball123" reply=
All of my Terran starts lack the Basic Farm. So Earth starts with 99% approval and goes downhill from there quickly without near-constant slider adjustments, which kills productivity and research. I have to research to get Xeno Farms if I want a farm. I always start with three colony ship designs: M1, M2, and M4(?). Sort of odd not to see an M3. The Constructors are M1-M3. Is this the same for everyone?
Playing as the Terrans, I found that the game starts me with both a single and double constructor. There were actually two singles, a short-range, and a long-range.

"Benevolent" and "Malevolent" are antonyms. No change needed. Benevolent means literally "to wish well", to be a "well-wisher". Malevolent means "to wish ill", to "wish evil". There is nothing here that is Darwinian. It is all about one's intentions--one's wishes for some other thing or being. The reason or motivation behind the wish has nothing to do with whether or not the act itself is benevolent or malevolent. One's action may

Hi Failsafe, I think the purpose--the Use Case--these are for typically is when your colony has nothing it wants to build on-planet, and it doesn't need or want to direct 100% of production to building a ship. Instead of wasting that production, you choose one of these instead: money, babies, approval, or war. Wiser folks here can tell you what the conversion cost is, I do not know that. Happy Conquering!
First, thank you for posting these bugs. I am especially impressed by the dangling participle reference. (Not sarcasm.) Second, I like the idea of putting the version number in the title in brackets. It makes it easy to distinguish [0.50] comments, which I'm extremely interested in, from those about version [0.42]. Why, if there weren't brackets, I might have to read a lot of posts only to discover, too late, that the post is about 0.42. And it just isn't proper English to d

It seems obvious your post wasn't just about putting the word "suggestion" in brackets. You are also explaining that the mere presence of the word suggestion is in fact redundant. Although I appreciate your quest to make us all like you--"be more like me"--it would make the world and this forum less interesting. It's also possible, I suppose as I'm trying to be tolerant here, that some people who are very busy might appreciate a quick indication that a post rep
Deleting double-post.
Basically, I'm trying to learn if my game is essentially over (unwinnable) if I knock off the last planet of a race without first destroying all of its ships and shipyards and probably starbases.
Taking out the last planet of another race causes remaining existing ships and shipyards to turn white. These ships/shipyards never move again, and they cannot be attacked or destroyed; the race retains points, and it seems the game will not end with a conquest victory.
Anyway, more to the original point, I don't think measuring productivity "in the future" in terms of population or widgets produced per unit time is any more anachronistic than measuring work done in horsepower is today.
I use mine-able resources as places to put a starbase near, and I don't bother hooking up the mining right away, saving a constructor. I just use it as a way to extend the range of my ships into that area. Mined elements should eventually become depleted. After building so many ships with Elerium, your Elerium deposit runs out, and you need to secure another one. That's both realistic and makes mine-able resources quite valuable. It doesn't really matter if the
