1.4 opt-in, sry. Lantern, a minor race, I'm using the "minors to majors' mod. They have no +influence at all.

So, I have twice their planets (8 v 4), a nice juicy 13, +influence techs, and a multiple round advantage to build up some culture.... They have a 13 Shrouded World (-25% influence), plus a 7 just next to it. Both 13s with a pop of 8ish. Their culture is expanding like a wave. Nothing shall stop it, not my culture starbases, not the multiple culture buildings on the world, not the fact that I've been slogging culture every round, eschewing buildi
These are wonderful ideas. Also, a turn timer for trade lockout would be nice, the ability to decline gifts would be good, and a separate option to provide military assistance in addition to trading would make sense, why must I stand there with ships for turn after turn watching them get their butts kicked before I can hand over the keys? Thanks
We want this.
Still waiting.
We've been asking for hotseat and LAN for quite some time.
Based on the events of the last year, I have two new rules. 1) Do not pre-purchase, ever. Buy the ultimate GOTY edition on sale, for 50% off, plus. Why? The bugs are squished as best as they will be, the DLC is all included, I didn't have to struggle with a broken product that left me with a bad taste in my mouth, user mods have had time to be created and polished. 2) Don't pay more than $20 for games. There's more content out there ri
We've been asking for this and Hotseat for a while. Quite a while. I doubt it. Sad, though.
I'm stealing planets in my current game. Slow, to be sure.
Wait, I'm still waiting for functional multiplayer. Something larger than huge, with the ability to ally between players? Or, a game that doesn't crash every 15 mins? So far, no go.
I've been saying this for a while. I come from Gal Civ 1, and while I understand it had years of polish Gal Civ III has not, it feels like 40% of the tech tree is just ... gone. 1d - 2 d - 3d - 4d phasing teleporters I keep saying I'm going to fire up Gal Civ 1 and play a game just so I can flesh out a more complete list of how we've gone backwards in technology while advancing into the future. Nothing like losing options in sequels
I personally like how the AI can "Get off my lawn!", but when you come to the forums, everyone tells you influence isn't a hard border. Someone tell the AI that my starbase is fine.
Interesting. I hate the pirates, as implemented, and disable them. An enemy in deep space that requires no supplies, water, oxygen? To each their own, I suppose.
I get to about turn 260 and go play something else. I check back every couple weeks. I *want* to like it. I *want* to play. I keep getting drawn back to check, and sadly, I keep stopping at approximately the same place. My current game start was wonderful, I have 24 colonies, had 34% of the galactic population a hundred turns back, and UP Chair first bang. I haven't a single warship, I'm the most powerful force for Peace in the G
Ah, "either or", what fun. Hmmm, "god-emperor", "god-emperor", "god-emperor"...not seeing it. Hmm. Anyone here read Dune?
My personal fave is how the Peacekeepers like to destroy unarmed vessels. Public executions. Just like reading the news.
More buffs won't help much when the ai still utilizes their planets like poop. My placement is boss. Their placement is random. My planets are carefully-sculpted works of art. Their planets are a chore to clean up once I finally take them with busted cultureflip. Next up, my starbase placement is... You get the idea.
The largest problem with the UP is it is tyrannical, rulership of the masses by decree, with a small group "in control" making arbitrary decisions for the rest of us. What's not to like? I can't possibly see why anyone would immediately get upset and leave.
Another look at it. "Hit and run" or "kite" is a viable strategy. My ships are faster, my ships have long range, my ships have better guns, it completely doesn't matter that you're tougher than I am, you're going to lose, because you can't hit what you can't catch. Now, as it currently stands, "slugfest" is the sole option. some of us want "fire all phasers and jump to warp". There you have it.
Hiyas, One of the first things I do is go into GalCiv3mapdefs.xml, and change the value for 5 from the "0" it is at initially, to the "5" you currently see it at. the line is towards the bottom of the page. This gives the density a more "organic" feel, at least in my mind. This likely doesn't address your issue of "dead worlds", and I entirely agree with your resour
I want to peace you to death. This is not wrong, its merely another manner of gameplay. In fact, if we're reading the tech tree, I believe the pen has not only defeated the sword, it has humiliated it. Hmm.
Everyone I know personally thinks this is complete nonsense and rubbish, and hates it. Then Stardock tosses in an arbitrary -3 diplo penalty for leaving UP. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. "Fun!". We're all demanding direct democracy IRL, at least here in Canada, but in our games, we're going backwards, in the future, no less. In Canada, its called the "First Past the Post" system, by the way, feel free to l
To avoid a bs -3 diplo penalty?
Speaking of Benevolent, how come Altarian Resistance always be so war-like? Since when did zealotry become defined benevolent?
You just have to get used to the Stardock dictionary, wherein "benevolent" actually means "selfish, self-absorbed, cruel, and willing to break the rules when you won't get caught." Its listed as "Neutral Evil" in the Player's Handbook. Another fun one is "decolonize", which
