Thank you Buck. It was Star Types. I updated and it loaded with all the mods.

Lol, of course it would. I'm going to do that tomorrow morning. I was just hoping someone might recognize the problem.
Ok folks, a little help please. My game crashes to desktop with mods on. Loads with with no mods. Here's the list: Longer AOE Military SB Upgrade Personality Traits Planetary Diversity Planetary Traits Propaganda Center Star Map Reduced Nebula Star Types Worthwhile Resource Improvements Lol, that's it. Any idea which one might be conflicting? By the way...thanks to all the mod
OK folks. I have never played a campaign. I only play sandbox games. This includes other games such as GalCiv 2, the Age of Empires series, Heroes of Might and magic, etc.. What am I missing? Are their some elements that don't make it to the sandbox? Will it make me a better player? I have to confess..,.I fell I'm a mediocre player at best and would get destroyed were I to play online, lol. Thanks to any who respond.
A little enlightenment please. I purchased it, but haven't played a game with it yet. As far as the sandbox goes, how is this the best DLC ever? What changes can I look forward to? Thanks all.
I made an Immense map for 50 factions, 2-6 planets each. Took 2 weeks.
Buck, the Snathi tech tree seems to be available. I changed a few of my customs to their ships for variety. I could have sworn the tree was also available. Lol, Hordesman, I have to respectfully disagree with you. The Snathi are CLEARLY still squirrels, albeit graduates from the "Rambo Academy." The others do not look anything like the animals some might say inspired them. I have no problem with the Snathi, they simply have always spoiled the immersion for me. To each his own.</
Hi Long, to my knowledge there is no way to assign ships period. Just like in the regular game, the races start with the 3 basic ships. However, I can help you place the factions. Keep track of the order you place the home worlds when you create the map. Choose "random AI player" for each. Then, when you set up the game, choose the factions in the same order. The game will place the first faction listed in the menu on the first home world you created, and so on to the end. I'd recommend m
Have the planetary governors been shut down? The option remains, but I've yet to get them to do anything. I researched the first governance tech, turned them on at the planet, and the menu keeps reading "idle planet." Anyone with a little guidance? Thanks.
Hmmmm, a tease?
Does the DLC offer things that effect sandbox mode if you don't play using minor races? I'm not a particular fan of the Snathi. I prefer to immerse in a serious tone, lol. I saw a reference to an Arnoran starbase. Any chance the Arnorian ranger is back? Any clues?
I just started a new game. I was able to adjust the wheel on every planet independently from the start. Have the restrictions before researching "Governance" been removed? I don't see an update.
Redviper, do you build any labs on your specialized manufacturing worlds?
Thank you JT. I like the idea. I've fallen into just continuously producing ships for no real reason.
Annekynn, until it is addressed, I have an 'exploit' you can try. Use the cheat code "createtraderesource' on the grid in question. The resource should replace the building. Then, simply destroy the resource and you have a clear tile. I posted this a few months back, the grids read 0,0 to 9,0, left to right on the bottom row. Next row is 0,1 to 10, 1...and it continues like this until the top row, which is 0,5 to 10,5. Let me know if it worked.
Thanks Petri, and great answer, lmao.
Hey folks, can a few of you share your strategy regarding your specialized industrial worlds? Specifically, what do you direct them to do when you don't need constructors, or ships at the moment? Obviously the science worlds go 100% research, and the econ worlds go 100% money. What is the most effective use of an industrial world, when not producing? If I don't build a ship, (to avoid the 'Idle Colony" message,) and I put the slider to 100% manufacturing, I can choose one of
Thank you. That's the version I have as well.
As always, thanks Larsenex. I have 'Opted In' in the past. I don't remember the procedure. Where on Steam do I choose to do so?
Sorry to be a bother. I know this has been answered before, but I can't find the post. Can anyone explain the "Opt-In" procedure? My game auto updates, but I like to try the opt-ins. I have 1.3.0.10. I want to go for 1.3.2. Thanks anyone.
Naselus and Moogle, thank you both for your help. I followed both your suggestions and changed the file from 9 to 256. I booted the game with no problem. I will give it a try tonight or this weekend. Perhaps I will try another Soak game. I must admit, it was a bit unnerving for me messing with files for the first time. By the way, the actual file read "GalCiv3AIDefs.xml." I gambled that the 3 was left out by each of you. There was no "GalCivAIDefs.xml." On a side note: Naselus, I trie
Thank you both. I have to try it. I will try the "Mod" approach as I assume that won't make a permanent change. I'm pretty discouraged right now. I ran a SOAK game on the map. As I said, Insane, very small clusters, 5 or 6 planets per faction and 48 opponent factions. It ran between 400-500 turns. I came back to the screen to see "Defeat." No problem, I saw that the Dreadlords colonized a dead world in my cluster. They must have taken me out. What bothered me was that ALL 48 other fac
Next question: how do I find that file?
Thank you Naselus. However, I have NEVER messed with the game. Do I need a special "hex reader," do I just open the file as I do to add a portrait? Thanks for the help.
Naselus, let me get this straight? I spent the last 2 weeks building an insane map, with 48 factions? Each faction is meticulously placed to optimize opposing ideologies. I even went "historic," making sure the Korath were in a cluster near the Drengin, the Iconians were not too far from the Yor, etc. The Orion races were all on one side of the map, the GalCiv races on the other. I gave the stronger, hopefully more aggressive races better clusters and weaker opponents to exploit. Resources we
