Can't wait for the beta. Will the patch notes be up soon?
It's been two months since anything new was posted in the vault. Could you please throw us a bone? Some concept art, music, anything. Pretty please with a cherry on top.
Check the Founder's Vault, there are a couple of tracks there.
Hi All I am really looking forward to GalCiv3. Then I got this email yesterday reminding me that Elite Founder is still available for a few days. So I have a couple of questions. If I buy Elite Founder today, does that mean that I will get continuous Alpha access up until the point that Beta is released (and then switch over)?
Yes.
Elite Founder is a lot more expensive than Beta Access (£75.99 advertised on
Design Challenges One of our objectives is for people to have the option to play new "Immense" sized maps where there might be hundreds of empires playing. We have a lot of different ideas on how to make this work (few people are going to want to have to select 130 opponents to play against). We might use Steamworks Workshop to allow players to share their custom made players and once approved have automatically added as additional
Will ideologies differ between civilizations? Will there be references to civilizations that won't be in the game(Drath, Korath, Korx)? Like the Krynn having access to some of the Korx technology, or the Drengin having Korath spore ships. Speaking of spore ships, will they be back? And will there be other instances of hostile modifying of a planet's environment?
It was explained why she looks different than the previous Altarian leaders.
It would be wrong to assume that all Altarians are white, tattooed. It depends which faction is currently supreme. There are actually two other Altarian factions we haven't seen that look quite a bit different too.

Every world has their own skeletons to deal with. There are now 3036 names in the list. Congrats Stardock.
The devs have stated in a stream what their plans are for tech victory. Each of the research trees, not certain if Warfare will have one, will have a tech at the end that must be researched, and after that you must build a special building, Ascension Gate, the planet this is built on will start to glow and the other players will be alerted about it.
I'm probably beating a dead horse here, what are the chances of implementing hot-seat multiplayer?
Does Stardock have a list of what's planned to be in the game, but isn't yet? That way I won't list things that are on the way.
The Evolution of Galactic Civilizations thread contains a table with the features for GC3.

This is the page for naming your star. Slightly related to the discussion there are now 2842 star names in the list.
Only thing I bought is the Geneforge series.
Microsoft's was meh to me. And EA, complete and utter disappointment. Going to bed, will miss Sony and others, so I'll catch up tomorrow.
I'll be asleep when it goes live, will have to watch the rerun. What is the latest word on hotseat multiplayer? All I really want is to control more than one civilizations at the same time.
Looks neat. Will it be upgradeable like starbases?
Already planned :
I also think the introduction of strategic resources (i.e. if you have resource X, you get access to using component Y on your ships) could be pretty amazing in what people choose to fight about.

I prefer steam personally but thought they had already said there would be a directly available version of the final game too.
GC III will use Steamworks so you will have to activate it on Steam no matter where you buy it from. In order to make a non-Steam version they would have to spend a lot of resources recreating things that are handled by Steam. Here's what Frogboy has stated: [quote who="Frogbo
The game is in alpha. The current tech tree setup is just a placeholder. As for the rest it is being worked on.
Regarding pirates: "We do currently have pirates, they are disabled for alpha, and still being balanced. We want to make sure they are a fun addition, and give the player a way to grow and advance early game, but we have to be careful that they don't become tedious, or flat out annoying." mormegil &
Posted by mormegil on the Steam forums. "There will be rings and moons, and they are planned to give Bonuses. There will also be two minable planet types."
Will be busy tomorrow so I won't be able to see it live, I'll have to watch the video later.
It's being considered.
Current thought is to move ship production off world. You'd build a shipyard and multiple planets can send resources to them (with distance affecting efficiency).
