There are some race portraits in this post, and some race icons in this one. It'd be great if Stardock could set up a Modder's forum where people could post these, it took me a while to go pack through about 5 pages of the general GC3 forum to find these.

If you took the "Intuitive" ability for your custom race you get a bunch of research points at the start, which would be why you got several techs.
Perhaps that's it. They are "Cool" right now, I wanted to use an Open Borders treaty to improve their disposition.
I won a tech victory in a previous beta. If it was disabled I must have missed the announcement.
I would really like to see both of these implemented. I've seen the second one requested before, but I like both ideas a lot.
The generic tech tree has so many techs "disabled for beta", including all 3 Cultural Focus techs, that it is impossible to meet the research conditions for a tech victory. I remember this being reported in an earlier beta with respect to the Altarian tree, but this is the generic tree that is the default for custom races.
I have established Open Boarders treaties with the Iridium and Thalan, and a Free Trade Agreement with the Iridium. When I speak to those leaders, I have the opportunity to offer those treaties, plus Alliance, Exploration, and Non Aggression Pacts. Yet when I speak to the Krynn, no treaty options are available at all. Is this a bug, or is there something special about the Krynn that has somehow escaped me?
After over 300 hours playing I finally found my star in my current game. As a bonus it had a habitable planet.
In the following shot of the Diplomacy screen, the Drengin are shown as having a favorable effect because I'm paying them tribute, the problem is that in reality they are paying me tribute - 50 bc per week plus a bunch of techs in exchange for a peace treaty. I've submitted the debug.err files I've been left with, but I haven't gotten any crash .dmp files to submit. And when I load the autosave and try the battle again, it doesn't hang. It seems to require some number of battles before it happens.
This sounds similar to the problems I've been having in invading planets in .81. I've described what I'm seeing in the last few posts in this thread.
This is supposed to be fixed in Beta 5 patch 2, which is due out later this week.
Aha! So that's why my free techs came on the third turn instead of the first! I always go to the tree view.
It just happened to me again, attacking a planet, the battle view does not appear, I'm left looking at the main galaxy screen with no way to interact except to use task manager to kill it. Once again there's no dump file. The debug.err has: Debug Message: CBattleSystem::AddBattle IncrementMovementHoldCount ticket 0 attackerID 18652 defenderID 5017 count 1 Debug Message: Battle: Consuming random value 333284699 and seeding the m_battleStream
Are you asking for this instead of, or in addition to, the tooltip that gives you that information when you hover over the manufacturing/research/income sections of the planet display?
The first bug, the ideology points not being deducted, is supposed to be fixed in patch 2 due out later this week.

The free version is limited to 5 minute videos, but that ought to be plenty for GC3 battles, I would think.
Jing is free and can capture short videos, is that the kind of thing you're asking for?

Known problem, fix is scheduled to be in a patch released next week, probably Thursday. That will be Beta 5 patch 2. The list of fixes in patch 2 is in this post.

I think this issue was supposed to have been fixed in .81, but I just got a similar hang. The debug.err messages that appeared in the .80 instances of the hang do not appear in the .81 hang, so it could well be a new problem. I've opened ticket #SVL-510-40517 for this new occurrence.
