Ug, that sucks. But thanks for the help guys. At least now I won't be searching for something that doesn't exist.

It's taken me a while to get around to playing Galciv 3 (was waiting for it to get a bit more meat on it's bones) but now here I am. Hiyas. I've got a question about the production wheel and am hoping someone can tell me that I'm missing something. There has to be a way for me to easily set specific numbers for Wealth, Manufacturing, and Research, but I sure can't find it. There's three lines right under the wheel that
Was Starcon 2 even 4x? I don't recall much of that one. I remember Starcon 3 having a campaign mode, but it was more along the lines of exploring the galaxy in a precursor ship. Of course all three games had real time arcade style fights, but I only remember the first one having a turn-based war game aspect.
1. I loved MOO II. Nothing more awesome than capturing ships with Assault Shuttles. We need to have some kind of assimilation or marine action that results in taking over enemy ships. Battle salvage would be excellent. 40 minutes here. Civ Customization was always the biggest draw for me. I probably won't start playing until it's implemented (though I haven't checked in a while, so maybe it already is).
There are a number of 4x games out there, and they're all different. Tactical combat, 3D maps, etc., are not 'modern' features; they just aren't intended features of the GalCiv series (of which this is actually the fifth game). 3D maps for instance were seen in other games at least as early as 1995, a year after the first GalCiv game. Again with the polls! I vote NO on polls! But if I didn't, I'd vote NO on tactical combat.
All Elite Founders (the $99 package that isn't available anymore) get that. Regular Founders ($45) get beta access and a discount on retail price.
Scooped of course. That's what I get for checking to see how many d's in "pudding".
I think only the Elite Founders get all the DLC (obviously - wouldn't be worth $100 if they didn't). Pretty sure that regular Founders just get the base game at a discount. As far as I know, both versions get all the other perks; alpha access (beta for non-elite founders), forum badge, star naming, plague-pudding pop coupons, and access to the founders vault.
Personally that's what I want. Galciv2 with more content and better graphics. They don't have to re-invent the wheel.
Absolutely this. All I want is Galciv2+1.
This gets my vote. I've always wanted to be able to set up simple patrol routes as well. Something like what they had in Empire/Empire Deluxe.
I was indeed expecting fun. Testing software isn't my idea of fun, sorry. How do I get a refund?
You paid $100 for a lifetime sub to everything the devs will ever make for Galciv 3 until the end of time. Access to the alpha and beta is just a bonus they tacked on to the deal (just like the forum badge and naming a star). If you paid $100 simply to play an unfinished game, you've got too much disposabl
Hexes have been good for movement in tabletop wargames since forever, and I think they're a swell addition to Galciv. I sure hope Stardock fixest the goofy way ships wiggle around them though. It looks crummy.
Quoting Wetballs, reply 17 Space fighters are cool staples of science fiction, and based on this, I think they should have been introduced long ago whether or not they make sense according to what we presently perceive as science fact. I'm rather ambivalent on the use of other works of fiction to either support or oppose the inclusion of anything within a specific work, if said work is not set within the same universe as tho
Come on guys. Star Wars is fiction. Battle Star Galactica is fiction. Star Trek is fiction. Each hedged on science to enhance the enjoyability of their story from time to time. And you can see more of this in David Webber's "Honor Harrington" series, where, even though he used a great deal of scientific information to support his stories, he too found he had to hedged with science slightly to keep the reader's focus on his story.<
Carriers/fighters are the things I'm looking forward too the most. Been a long time coming, and I hope Stardock does it good.

I understand the delay and believe it'll be good for the eventual beta. However, I think the longer the Founders Elite Edition is available (and it's all that's available), the more Stardock will be hated on Steam by those who see you as evil money grubbers. Personally, I don't give a toss about most of the vermin like that who frequent the Steam forums, except that I want as many people to get into Galciv3 as possible and they are all potential

I felt that fighters/carriers were the biggest thing missing from Galciv 2. They're ludicrously cool staples of the science fiction space empire genre, and to not include them would make far less sense than how "unrealistic" the ships themselves would actually be. I very nearly shat myself with delight when I found that fighters/carriers would be included in Galciv 3. Go Stardock!
Great post Branoic. My play style is almost identical to yours (although the ship editor is a huge chunk of immersion for me). I agree with all of your points, including the star names. Obviously everyone's got their own idea of what's silly and what's not, but the cheese on some of them is hard to ignore. However, considering the number of stars named by Founders, I thought that for the most part they were actually pretty cool (some, like the ones
I sort of liked how simple politics worked in Galciv2. Choose a party and try to keep it in control of the senate. Bonus if you do, penalty if you don't. If Stardock beefs things up in Galciv3, that would be awesome! I'm all in favor of getting a little more in depth, but what you (Cheunggkl) suggest seems pretty heavy. Don't get me wrong - it looks neat, and you obviously know your stuff. It just seems a little much for what I
