WoW, just wow.. Thanks! I remember seeing that Planetary Invasion was going further up the tech tree and actually would not be available this incarnation of Alpha, leaving us to just do space battles only and no conquering. This is likely incorrect on my part but I was just wanting to clarify my information. I forgot to ask. Can we mine asteroids now or is it part of the resource harvesting (All resource

Yea I figured as much. I mean hey, maybe I am going for ' Torian radicals ' and I WANT my planet flooded! Then for ME it I would expect my nice Precursor ships AND a planet quality/tile increase of 4, lol.
Well I am never one to pass up free Precursor ships early in game. I feel that is WAY over powered and should be coded or what not till AFTER the AI and player have fielded some ships with firepower, but that is my opinion. So I get a choice of some research...OR a FREE ship, planet is flooded AND a cap on population OR the wonderful EVIL choice, I get a FREE ship and the Planet is flooded. Um ok. What does that do in game? I get the h
Definately maybe, for tomorrow...Unless its next week than possibly likely! Does that help narrow it down? hehe...
I would like to see Influence tied to trade (as it should be) along with a 'creeping' of starbases. One thing I really would like is trade to be a weighted mechanic to diplomacy. It was to good effect in GC II. If my first contact is with Drengin or Yor, and I initiate trade at about mid game we both are transporting medium to large amounts of goods/services for the profit of both. I want the Drengin to think twice about Declaring War on me.
Yes, I know. Currently we have Circles, and a fog of war. What would be nice is a change that has that but does not look like that. This engine makes the COOLEST Stars. Also the background is simply breathtaking. Why cant we have that at start up but not show planets. What I mean is, I want to see a 'revealed' back ground with Just the stars. Then as you explore, all the cool stuff will appear upon proximity to your ship.
Back when playing GC II ultimate, I was sure you could see 'nothing' on the map. The fog of war covered all. Ill fire it up and see. However, I agree with Brad the current system does look cluttered. Being as we can see almost all the stars if we look with our land based telescopes here on earth, I would like to see a slight change. Could we get a nice mulit-colored dot, not an empty circle but something that lets us know there is something there. I mean we can see fro
I just watched the dev stream. They mentioned most of the bonuses are hard to read and will be fixed to be more clear, AND we get LARGE maps. Yay!
Just a small thing that annoys me is the tool tips for the tile improvements are vague and not clear on what to place on or near them. The language is silly. +2 to influence impartments? WTF is an impartment? +3 to influence (with) +2 to on or near adjacent tourism So please call all planet buildings "improvements", not impartments, centers or some such name. It is not clear what I shou
With the engine being native-ly built in 64 bit the upper limit on map sizes is uh, well, I cannot imagine but really really mind boggling big!
Is there a 'projected patch notes' area I can find or look at? The first comment implies the coming patch or its notes are available.
Oh speaking of Ship designer, I finally figured it out but it was NOT intuitive on how to remove a piece off a ship. DOUBLE click, I see that now. However if we had a button that says REMOVE in the bottom left box, it would be easier on idiots (which I am one).
I am familiar with the ship designer. It is coming along nicely! Spaceports or Shipyards. Which is which? What is the thing that will allow us to build ships 'off planet'?
Hey, I like to old system! EVIL EVIL EVIL, then buy my way to salvation with credits! Slavery, torture, facehuggers on colonists for tech! All goodness then when Ethics are researched, bam, 50K in Credits and I am a saint! LOOOVE IT! Ok well the current system is ok but I would like the exploration of my survey ships to have more options and give me more 'ethics' choices. When I investigate that space junk we found 'argon VI' and you can eith
Ok thanks. I have rush built some cosntructors and did not see an option to build a starport. I was reading some of the PDFs in the vault and Brad's recent one is very helpful.
I have seen a lot of posts on them but have not had a game last long enough to path down the trees. Are shipyards in game and I am just missing the tech to unlock them?
[quote who="trims2u" reply="6" id="3467118"] And, frankly, I never saw the point of arming traders. It's hugely costly to do so (a decent attack/defense armament can triple or more the cost of the freighter). It's far cheaper to just build a bunch of extra traders, and send them out to destination worlds. When they get there, and you've already used all your Trade Routes, they can just sit. When another trader dies (often, due to the world changing hands, n
Thanks for the clarification!
Ok I did build a constructor. It does not currently ask for a special purpose. Fun stuff. Will we be able to build starships from Starbases?
I have not built a Shipyard using constructors. I will have to give that a whirl. Is that in the game?
My first play through s I had a shock. The customary RED Triangle always was associated with building a research building there. Now its different. The YELLOW CYLINDER used to be a Precursor library that had 700% tech bonus. Now its only +2 influence. I had to hunt up what to put where. Fun! Also I would love to be able to cue up a building and a ship at the same time but I suppose I can learn to live with the single build limitation. </p
Can you build a starbase outside your influence?
Check check check...
I got the Alpha! Questions: Will Steam download the most resent Alpha or are there patches I need to seek and if so where/how? Is there something I need to do to get my forum badge?
[quote who="ParagonRenegade" reply="3" id="3470613"] Quoting WarfishExile, reply 2 I mean some of it is cool, but most of it seems wierd considering the fact that you are supposed to be ruling an interstellar empire. I'm not saying get rid of it, I'm just saying that now that the game looks and feels more intense, that the humor will have to match. This isn't Warhammer 40K, the game isn't all bleakness and endless war. Without the
