Falconeer, how many gigs of ram does your video card have? I have a similar setup and play only on insane maps with 30 civs. My turn times on turn 453 are about 15-18 seconds as it cycles through each civ. I also have 32 gig ram but the most important thing I found is that your card has to have at least 6 gigs of ram on it or you will drag. EDIT> I see your card has 8gig of ram which should be fine for large maps. My next thought is amd vrs intel and I t

Greetings Gal Civer's, I was restarting a new game of Civ 6 and 2k just announced the Byzantium empire DLC. I like the Civ series. The mechanics are good and graphics and combat are engaging. However, I just did not want to rebuild a new game so I fired up a new game within Gal Civ III. As usual I play my malevolent Vulcans from Mirror Mirror (goatee Spock for the win!). There is just something about Gal Civ and its features that keep me hitting the

Both are good. I tend to only drink water now after all these years of no alcohol. I am a picky 'water drinker'. So Gal Civ IV. Horemvore, what are we going to build it with? Hexes, squares or dodecahedrons? I want another 4x game like Fallen Enchantress but no memory wall, FE is a great game btw. To Starlane or no? I remember the ai was going to be 'data driven' but forget how Paul had described how it was supposed to work.

Mad Max would go broke driving the outback at the speeds he did. Sheesh no wonder they laid siege to the refinery!

I live on the West coast. From Ventura you can drive south along the coast for 260 miles and never once leave the city. You will progress all the way from one metroplex to the next until you hit the border at San Diego. While this coast is some of the most beautiful in the world. CA has a horrible nanny socialist state mentality. Gas here is about 3.88 a gallon. Its one of the highest in the US. I am curious what is gas per litre there? I envy you Jafo. I hav

Ah this thread again. R- Team, as the vets here have stated the game has always had 'no borders'. It's the way the game was made that you can go anywhere on the map. Same with the ai. Can Stardock code it so that the ai cannot enter your borders? I think so, but that also means you would too would hit this invisible wall that you cannot move through. I think the way it is designed is fine and factually more accurate for a space based 4x game . <

Touching on a point about star lanes. From the outset (if anyone remembers) many folks were clamoring for a way to 'close or enforce borders' . I remember seeing dozens of posts about this. Unless someone can program the ai to 'see borders' (such as is done in Civ VI) the only way to enforce borders that I know of is to use star lanes. Do I like them? No but after playing hours of Stellaris I understand how they bring a strategic depth of play we do not have in Gal Civ. You can create

Oh, I am soo gonna love this. Hell I am twisting a few friends to make sure they buy up and into the next incarnation already! I know its a ways off but when can we get in?

This is exciting! I posted a positive review a while back. I am going to update it and repost it. Thanks for the heads up! I love the path we have ahead!

So > I have been playing both Gal Civ and Stellaris. I like both games. I was hesitant at first to play Stellaris but it does have some features I do like. This is not a post to be critical of my one true favorite game but rather to let Stardockians see what I liked. I am a life long supporter of Stardock and its great games and will always line up to help on the Galactic Civilizations front. This was to show some things I like without sounding like a paradox fanboy. In no pa

Greatings Stardockians and gamers. I currently have 27" 1080p Monitor. Its refresh is 60 hz. I love it and it seems to work great. My video card is a 1070 GTX, my processor is 8700K and my ram is 32 gigs. I am really considering this as a second monitor on my desk > https://www.techspot.com/review/1845-lg-32gk650f/ Now can my video card run two monitors? I have a back up

I agree. I love the plot and background but to this day, I have over 2000 hours logged in Gal civ III and I have NEVER ever played any of the campaign games. Not one. The sandbox was and always will be my prime de-stress game from work. I can log in, play a few turns and depending on where the game play is I may or may not go to bed at the correct time and instead find myself playing just a few more turns to get disrupters....... If ...IF you do make a successor to Gal Civ III I want

There was a lot of work put into Star control origins. The game itself and its story allow a large room of possibilities to be explored at the end. I'd say do an expansion but can it be done so it takes place 'after' the story? Is this feasible or would this be considered an sequel? I am looking forward to seeing what evolves.

I cannot reiterate this > Making really big maps more enjoyable to play on. It's one of our strongest features and they're annoying (IMO) This is the ONLY 4x game with maps this size. Using a mod in Civ VI Yanmp comes close but nothing like Stardock. I know all of use have preferred play styles but truly I feel there is nothing more entertaining than settling down to a Gal Civ game on an insane map and really spending 4 hours exploring. FOUR

I am ok with the removal of specializations as long as you add in fresh and new choices. If you are going to do the last Hurrah of Gal Civ III lets make 'radical' changes. Replace the current 3 way attack/counter system with a 5 way system. Bring back Unique race based only weapons and defenses. restructure the entire tech tree so things are a bit more clear Colonization Warfare Infrastructure

[quote who="leiavoia" reply="14" id="3736780"] "Also the bar is like 85% to 90% in my favor and I still lose my 25 legions against their 7 legions." This can happen if you don't put all of the legions on 1 hex so they attack together. If you spread the legions out, they seem to attack separately for some reason. :/ This is a long standing bug since invasions were first introduced. If you click "auto-resolve

Forgotten, Do you use the invasion tactics in game? If a planet has say 20 legions on it and you have 25 you need to both compare the invasion strength of your troops vrs theirs and also soften up the planet using either tidal or core detonation. Both of those are assured of a win in most cases.

This is Amazing and I am thrilled to hear about it! I will at once suspend all projects Paul Boyer is working on and redirect his focus to 'Battle viewer'. Hire Volasaurus to assist Paul in this endeavor. Hire Shade Meadows to assist Volasaurus assisting Paul for this endeavor. Leave a tri tip sandwich with light horseradish near a workstation to lure Brad into working on this as well. As alway

Thanks Seilore! Those are valid points. I have not fired up a new game since 3.2. I cheat horribly by giving myself a 5 class 25 home planet system all with precursor worlds. However I see that some points are good comparisons to GCII. For example in the evolving of this game there is never a reason to upgrade your constructor with an exception of adding engines. The Game ship designer still utterly fails to build as well as old GCII did when you unlocked a new tech or maybe I a

I think the original poster would have been really put off with pre-crusade starbases if he is unhappy with the system now...... No to automation. The process of a 4x game is cumulative or additive actions as time progresses. turn one > 1 or 3 clicks..., turn 386 > I dunno but its a shit ton of clicks and really fun a this point!
