Ok, I thought they all started at level one. Thanks.

Shouldn't the level on the adjacent improvement be '2'...? Or am I misunderstanding how this works?
83.6% of players play either tiny or small maps
That's surprising. Am I weird that I like huge maps?
Reviewers aren't going to give GC a bad review because of MP, which is the absolute least important thing in a 4X strategy game. They see the bigger picture.
The trick is balancing it. I also wouldn't want the AI immediately bee-lining for every planet on the map. But they should explore and expand.
Holy crap! There is one: https://stardock.cachefly.net/www_galciv3_com-assets/gamemanual/GC3Manual.pdf It's a little light, but it's a start.

Right now it goes back to full zoom-in if I leave the main screen (to go into a planet or the research screen for instance).
I'd also like some input on this. There's got to be an average for each galaxy. Like 8-12 for medium or something.
I'm wondering if he meant to say 12 and 128 was a typo.
I've only made one race so far, just to mess around and learn to play again as unlike everyone else I didn't get all that sweet sweet beta time to enjoy the game. I made some Iron Sky style Space Nazis. I used pics from "Iron Sky", "Wolfenstein", and the one bad guy from "Hellboy" (can't remember his name) as the race leader. No custom ships yet, just the pics for the faction and faction creator. I would put up a screenshot bu
How do you know the other alien races and portraits aren't female? Or even if the other species have a concept of 'male' and 'female'...?
I don't really know about what is planned for GalCiv 3 when it comes to expansions. I do know what Stardock has done with the past with expansions though.
4 major expansions and 4-6 DLC packs per year. Per Brad.
After Elemental I couldn't drop cash on a pre-order at full price. Really I should say after Hellgate: London's 250$ 'lifetime subscription' I learned to never put significant money down on a video game that hasn't fully materialized. On turn 2, I met two races already that are right on my doorstep.
SD really needs to post a huge manual explaining the intricacies of all game mechanics. They posted a tiny 'galciv3 economy 101' article, but now it's time for a huge one. If game mechanics change, it can be updated.

This should definitely be stickied so everyone can share custom factions easily.
Great thread...!
so it's out? and I'm stuck at work like a sucker.
Mine are already .png with transparent backgrounds but are smaller than 1920x1080. I love gimp, but I have PS anyway. question, if I make the portrait 1920x1080, won't he or she completely cover the background. Or do you make most of the image transparent, with a smaller character in the middle? thanks.
That's a very good review and echos my own thoughts about the game, generally great but certainly has a few bugs still. I also agree with the statement that given the scale of the game and the sheer fun it's forgivable . Pleased the bugs aren't dragging the score down, because at it's heart it is an epic game that just needs a bit more tweaking and bug fixing to be an all time classic.
I tried, no good. The leader FG portraits have to be 1920 x 1080 also? or just the backgrounds? Thanks.
