I have gotten about 200 turns into an immense game, and it seems time to say something about how the AI is doing and about the faction graph. I am playing as Iconian immense, on normal, with 19 major opponents and some minors. I have seen about 30% of the galaxy I guess so far. I am not using any tricks (like getting constructors from pragmatic and upgrading to colony) and I have not purchased any buildings or ships outright. My situation is shown in the graph. &n

SD does have one advantage --- they have a large and hard working group of testers --- but that's not the real advantage --- they listen to them and work the stuff they send in. We shall see, it could go either way. My point on release is only that they know best, so I am not going to worry about it. Just keep catching those flies (er bugs).
I have seen two issues with invasions. Wondering if others have seen these. 1. Very often on starting the invasion (from the invasion screen) the screen just goes black. This one I have ticketed. 2. Not sure about this one: I have researched information warfare, but I don't get the option to use it on invasion...or am I just missing something? I will watch more closely on next chance and will ticket it if I bec
Check. Huh? Errrr...oh that's right you stupid cow! You didn't sign up as a founder! Do they have a Dumbhead badge?, I wonder?
I disagree it got great previews, not reviews. Anyway I'm happy to put my fingers in my ears and pretend that the game has no bugs, glitches, flaws or broken parts. But I looked at some of those "Reviews" and they acknowledged there where issues with the Beta that would no doubt be fixed by release. If they aren't that will have an impact, I remember similar discussions of Elemental before it's release on the boards
Quoting Bamdorf, reply 10 I have two thoughts. 1) What was the state of the game Beta 4? Beta 5? Beta 6? ONE DAY after beta 6 (re hotfix for 4gb people)? Fifteen days to go. Let me extrapolate...see where I am going?<
I have two thoughts. 1) What was the state of the game Beta 4? Beta 5? Beta 6? ONE DAY after beta 6 (re hotfix for 4gb people)? Fifteen days to go. Let me extrapolate...see where I am going? 2) The guys deciding on this have collectively many decades of experience with their careers and their reputations on the line for their flagship game. Huh, wonder if they might have a clue what they are doing? Well, no pro
Yes, it's an ion engine.
Okay I've gone through the tree and found four specializations where mutual exclusivity should be given deeper consideration: 1. Warfare - invasion optimization. The first person to research this can have his research nullified because the opponents can research the defensive counter 2. Warfare - defensive focus. The first person to research this can have his research nullified because opponents can research an offen
Fairly often now I see missing Parts in the bottom log in the ship designer. I might add a second point which is hard to capture ---- namely that when I try to highlight one of these parts (to perhaps delete it, for example) often I can't highlight the last part in the row. The brackets auto move to the next item to the left. I have submitted a ticket with save and support tool. <img style="vertical-align: bottom;" src="https://www.dropbox.com
I agree totally. Saves a lot of clicks and confusion over the course of a game.
Alphaprior, I am not a fan so much of the lock out on specialization, however its not really a big deal. It really isnt. Fire up a game, go big and by turn 150 or so if there is a specialization you want that you did not get, just buy it from one of the factions. I 'picked' better accuracy for my weapon specialization which gives like .01 to your accuracy, but I also really wanted miniatu
Having to choose at certain points isn't that big of an effect on the total research time. What is really needed (and I agree with this 100%) is to be able to slow research down. Well, it has to be done carefully, because there can be side effects. But to me this is the way. This reminds me of civ 4 and civ 5. I always played on the next slower mode down from "normal" so the units would stay useful for a significant time, and not be outdated befor
Quoting Illauna, reply 2 I like the new trees. It seemed wierd to have a specialization branch and be able to select all 3. This.
+1. And it is a challenge to get the others by diplomacy.
numbered by me for clarity.
1 20 Turn lock out on Diplomacy is a bit long. Either lower it to 12 or give us techs or ideologies to lower it. Many times I wanted to just look at the number of planets or ships the other Faction had and I was not able to do so. The lock out awesome but we need bit more happy medium. I say 10 or 12 turns. 2 Pirate Bases are a tad too strong. The high defenses (16-20-16) combined wit
The research, manufacturing, and wealth columns are still mislabelled. For the arrows shown in the screenshot, the headers should be research, wealth, and manufacturing.
I would like to chime in on the shipyard cost. I think it is great. Realized right off that building constructors for shipyards was going to be the way to go...which of course slows the colony ship building. Of course fine tuning is always in order to discuss, but after the surprise wore off I though it felt very good. Great idea!
So I ran a small game to test that my old custom factions were working, then went to a gigantic game. Not too far in, but my memory use and even my cpu temperature is significantly down. Plus, you know, like I am sure I will find bugs, but man it looks sweet so far! Yeah, I know, I am just a G.C.F.B. as always.
I believe the phrase used was "early this week". Well, after Tuesday, ain't early no mo. LoL, they will do whatever they think best, which in the long run is probably best for everybody.
This is just one of the areas in which GC3 can, and I expect will, go from being pretty good at launch to something special over the next few months. Just my 2c.
Nice video, thanks for that.
I think the moral of the story here is to simply buy games when you can afford them and with money you can afford to spend. What you pay for things is largely irrelevant as sales will come and go and everything drops in price over time anyway. It's more about whether or not you're willing to wait and what you're willing to spend at the time.
If you are going to use common sense you are not allowed to wear pira
I got the free techs...lot of them. But I did it straightaway. Perhaps if the game has a chance to autosave you can't get them?
Iconians...hey the name's core is ICON. Isn't that a hint they are the BEST! Or, maybe I just like free SB upgrades.
