For a tech victory you must unlock Beyond Mortality, Precursor Understanding, Cultural Affinity, and construct the Ascension Gate. As to your other questions, I am not sure.

Make sure you are hovering on an empty spot, i.e. not on top of a queued ship. Should show accumulated production.
This is correct, however I would note that if there is no accrued production, then hovering in the indicated area shows nothing. I think it ought to display "Zero accrued
I have posted the size of galaxies here: https://forums.galciv3.com/463642/page/1/#3538947 If you get an idea on smaller maps what seems right to you, then you can scale up the number of factions to larger sizes using this table. In your specific case, 4 AI players is far too few. i suggested in my post that if 8 was right for Huge, that you would need about 60 for insane, but I pic
Somehow I don't think this is what Joe might have said. Unless he has a "diplomatic" mode I have never seen. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
Your post is a useful piece, but I would put a little different emphasis on "ways to improve". A basic, first time out tutorial has to try to skip advanced topics, or pretty much anything that won't come up in a game for many turns. In a small game like the tutorial, rally points are a confusion best left for when the gamer has the basics of moving things around and has enough stuff going on that it will be useful. UP and extreme planets are importa

I think a saved game is helpful if combined with a TM forced dump before one kills the GC3 process when it happens. I find that yes sometimes it works and sometimes not, but if I try a few times it will fail again. So I think there is a fair chance it might be reproducible at SD. The crash dump has to be useful in any case, and I think that a save file helps with the interpretation of the dump file. But it may be wishful thinking, but I agree wit
Wonderful! Thanks to STEAM I didn't even get Beta 6, 720 MB of 2,200 after three days. Now I start all over with measly 32.8 MB of 2,600. I like GalCiv, but with STEAM it's a pain in the ass! Oh, yes. I've a connection with 55.000 kBit/sec, not a 300-baud-accoustik coppler. Did I mention that I dearly love STEAM?
Interesting, I have about the same download/upload speed, ~60 Mb/s,
I have taken the attitude that this is one of those balance things that probably won't settle until some time after release. But whatever it ends up it is going to be helping, so I set my planets to have decent morale, 100% if it doesn't mess things up too badly. Sort of the attitude I am taking toward a lot of stuff, not trying to carefully min/max because it will keep changing for a while. None of this is meant to minimize the importance of getting this particu
I sent a data package last night and within 15 minutes got an email thanking me and saying they were working very hard on it. But no word on progress.
What you need to do is go to the bottom of the list of buildings and find the projects (they will always say NA and have project in the name). Choose one and click the queue button. What happens is that any social manufacturing is then converted into whatever the project calls for. So if it is a research project, you get some more research.
I have created 26 races so far. Some I made up from posts of pictures/logos on this forum, some from the contest submissions, and so forth. It is so funny to play against the Angry Joe Army --- that was from Frogboy's post. Still need more though. Calculating the number of hexes (I posted that somewhere) per galaxy size and about how many factions I would like per hexes I estimate I should have about 60 factions going on insane to have a decent game. &nbs
Yes I got it last night as well, but got a good set of data to send in so hopefully they can address it.
I see your point of course. But being a fly on the wall? Sort of like wouldn't it be fun to watch all the great stuff go on in a concentration camp. These guys are in it 24/7 until they drop, then as soon as they regain consciousness they are back at it. I wonder if anyone feeds them? Hmmm, only if they fix a bug?! I mean when I get an email at 930 at night on Sunday about my bug report, it tells me someone is cracking a might
I am very suspicious about soak. Yeah I have tried it several times, why not. But I have this feeling things don't really work the same. Maybe I am just guessing? What I am trying to say is there is more than one reason they advertise that they don't want data where console commands have been used. Yeah, I know, I am stumbling around in the dark again. But hey, a random drunk will often make progress in their walk, right?
Yes it works either way really. But again I think the real problem is managing how things work in BIG games. There needs to be some way to scale things. For example, for testing today (the dreaded black screen on invasion bug) I am running medium with a half dozen major opponents. No problem there. But in my excessive games with 26 opponents, I was piling up a ton of those things. Clearly not right, I admit. Balancin

Well my lucky streak ended and I did get another black screen on invasion. However, I was lucky (feel the irony) that I had saved just before an attack from 1 hex away. Well, not that lucky since I have been doing this the entire game. So I appended full documentation of this event to my ticket OBF-644-50666. Maybe it will help! (This is 95.3 of course.)
I tested 0.95.3 this morning and got to an invasion situation. In three tries, twice it succeeded and once failed with the black screen. I can provide full documentation if that would be useful. -------------------- Edit: I didn't wait and went back to try to reproduce the black screen, with the invasion on the same turn, So I could get screen shot, save, and support tool. Tried about 15 times. It did not fail. Grrrrrr.
In my submission for the contest I used a rubrik's cube as a synthetic creature, lol. It was a cube on a white background, and I made it ok, but the edges looked bad. I didn't solve the puzzle... [e digicons]:|[/e]
This looks like the same thing I have reported: https://forums.galciv3.com/464223/page/1/#3543561 I do not know yet whether today's hotfix 0.93 fixed the problem...I have to get a ways into the game before I do invasions.
OK, thanks for explaining, makes sense. Thanks, going to try them out anyway lol. Heck I am just on a glorified bug hunt anyway.
I haven't seen this in 0.95 so far. Maybe we are good.

I think I see Frogboy's point and my position is that I would like a means on occasion to see all the details (like doing test runs --- which maybe should be in the game? let me set up different fleets and see what they do? --- just a thought), but that the default be about what it is. I do have the feeling, that I think is being expressed here, that I have a very poor idea what is happening despite a lot of experience. Maybe I am just looking at it wrong, perhaps.
