@Bamdorf: i think you got the starbase thing wrong. the pretty sure "1 construction" is the cost of the upgrade (i.e. 1 construction module) - not the yield. there are some higher end modules that require 2 construction points, so it makes sense that the game actually shows how many modules are needed. the production bonus you see is probably the baseline bonus of the "economy ring" which is 10% bonus to total production. the
Population affects production which pretty much affects everything. Production = 2 * pop ^ 0.7 Your production then is allocated to wealth, manufacturing, and research to set your raw research and manufacturing. Your raw manufacturing is multiplied by your bonuses. This brought to mind a real life example involving a big ship, namely, the repair of the Lexington carrier after the Coral Sea battle in WW2. The ship took considerable damage and it was estimated that a minimum of two weeks would be required to make it battle worthy. However, the crews at Pearl worked around the clock and pulled off a minor miracle in roughly 48 hours (not sure I remember the exact time) and made the ship ready for the turning point battle of the Pacific war at

Seems to me they could just change the name to "Galciv Feedback", and drop the Beta. Someone ought to be able to do that. Should be easier than FTL, no? The Game will continue to evolve significantly for the next 5-7 years, according to the CEO, so in my opinion, "Release Day" is somewhat arbitrary.
Not sure if MS Paint will save the alpha channel, try using gimp or maybe paint.net, I know gimp can do it and both are available free and can be found with a google search.
I am in the process of trying both your suggestions. Clearly MS Paint will not work with "transparencies" that are needed to put a portrait in front of a background. Thanks for the suggestions.

Notices: 1. I have read nearly all the posts in this thread, but I may have missed some. Apologies. 2. I do not intend come down on one side or the other, rather I intend to mention some more or less closely related items that bear on the issue, finishing up with what I consider the most important, and suggest the combatants to consider them. Here are some facts/ideas which bear on the subject of sensor capabilities in GC3. 1. &

1. Having two "one per planet", etc., buildings or multiple "one per factions" buildings sounds like an issue that should be moved to support (can just edit your post and change the header line saying "beta feedback" to "support". and probably also ticketed (see the support pinned guide if you need instructions). Sounds like a save file might be all you need there. 2. Being able to discuss extension of a time limit treaty absolutely makes sense, regardless of the time limi

I remember in earlier versions my power going from 999,999 to zero. I had really thought the changes would bring this under control. It's really in the running for the biggest outstanding issue (imo) now that the battle viewer and invasion things seem to be under control. It seems that somebody is not accounting for how large these numbers can get with a large galaxy --- and at the same time, I don't see why there has to be any limit at all. </p

I have updated my early access review. I have only one regret, which is that I have only one thumbs up that I can give for this game. Course I might add that my update didn't change the statistics. There ought to be a rating system that takes into account early access. Oh well.

Not sure I think you might need to contact the forum manager to fix that --- not sure how to do that either, but there must be someone who is overseeing the forums and has editing powers (like being able to lock or even delete inappropriate threads.). Perhaps this person will notice?

I saw this one time last night. I received a colony ship as a reward, THEN had to fight the pirates, and lost. But still could sail away with the colony ship. Very odd. I was running 97.7 opt in at the time. You should probably move this thread to Support. (Edit your original post and change the header line containing Feedback to Support). Also you seem to have spawned two threads instead of one (it happens). You should pare this down to one to

Thanks, appreciate the suggestions. I am embarassed to say what "tool" I am using. I am not sure it qualifies for the title. And the final nail...it's made by Microsoft. I think I will try GIMP and then PAINT.net if that isn't working right.

And now for something completely different. (Apologies to MP). The two major genres of computer games that I have enjoyed over many years are turn-based RPGs and Strategy Games. I think Skyrim is "pretty good"; but I am not talking about the vanilla game, I am talking about the heavily modded version(s) that I played which incorporated heightened graphics, realism,

I have a couple of comments (low for me, I know). 1. First, Larsenex's way of playing a very big galaxy but with rare habitable planets (I am thinking, sort of like how the Milky Way actually is, likely) is a very interesting idea and one that gives a huge difference in "feel" as compared to abundant, etc. Less stuff to manage but the individual encounters, etc., are more meaningful. Course you get that with a smaller game, but with a large galax

(This is my own opinion, don't blame SD for anything I say here.) I agree that a full, accurate manual (oh, probably about 300 pages maybe?) would be a very nice thing. I find it hard to believe anyone would argue about that. It is also, at the this stage and for the foreseeable future, a pipe dream. The game is still changing very quickly, and it will continue to do so for several years; which is a very good thing that I think mo

I haven't tested 97,7 yet. I have over 100 invasions without incident using 97.5. I have been working on the Wiki, finally finished first draft of the ship parts - there are a LOT of parts lol, so maybe I can test today .

I have no trouble finding pics and logos, but one issue I do often have is trying to arrange the pic so that the area surrounding the body in the large picture is transparent so that I can use the stock backgrounds. Haven't been able to solve that one yet. Every time I try to save something from paint I get a message that any transparency will be lost if I save it. Any suggestions would be helpful. Perhaps I just need to find pics that are all ready cut

One thing that seems certain to me is that the relative ability of a race as played as AI is quite different from their relative abilities when played by actual humans (single or MP). We know how to take advantage of things that the AI is just learning. I am not too concerned though at the present state of things, as I believe the AI will continue to improve for some time. At the moment I still see common mistakes like colonizing a small planet in the middle of another fac

Sorry to hear you are still having problems with the battle viewer. It's been two or three weeks since I had a battle viewer freeze; before that it was fairly common. Hopefully they can get you sorted out fairly quickly.

I have run a new 0.97.5 game and run > 50 invasion tests on five different planets, both major and minors, and with different approaches to the attack and different combinations of transports and different populations in transports. So far I have have had ZERO bad invasion events. I have been defeated some times, but that was poor leadership, those leaders will be sacked. Very curious what results other people are having with the latest hot fix. <p
