Do we just dump these into our Galciv3 dir: e.g.: C:\Users\Bruce\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods ? Thanks...
Perhaps the time necessary to research the techs necessary for the range to reach new planets could be increased, but this seems like it would only increase the time scale, not reduce the difference in opportunities between empires. Everyone would not be slowed the same; those lucky to have a few habitables close by would reap an even greater advantage. I agree that colony ships at present are ridiculously cheap.
I would like missiles to be able to launched from a distance with an estimated impact so I can do a TOT (time on target) attack with energy weapons at the same instant.
/snip/ I think this might just be splitting hairs a bit. The ISS has been crewed (mostly non-stop I believe ) since nov2000 without the iss ever returning to earth to resupply. We also do not set crew duty roster schedules.
One of the "rational
In GalCiv range is determined by distance from a planet or starbase. There is no need, however, for the planets/starbases to be in range of each other. For example, in principle if a planet was on one end of an immense galaxy, and a starbase at the other end, with no planets or starbases in between, a ship with no range extenders could still travel from one to another! So to begin with, as
F12 is the Steam screenshot --- it only works if you have Steam Overlay active. Steam -> Settings -> In-game check box.
I submitted a ticket on this last week. Not a game breaker, but annoying. I did notice that after accepting peace they disappeared from diplo screen...but many turns later...they reappeared! And I could negotiate with someone who had no ships or colonies!
I am thinking the 9th as Stardock is closed until Jan 5.
Quoting Bamdorf, reply 93 /snip/ Rather the issue will be that the alien turns will take a while. /snip/ You do realize how long you will be waiting for each turn if its updating a 64gb page file. I

In fact, I just did some checking and found: 1) there is no way of specifying what font size I want in my Stardock profile, however, I did find out that I can alter the size of some of the posts(including yours) on this forum by changing an option in my browser's settings (I use Firefox, tools->options->content). I am thinking (well as always when I say that caution is in order) that a huge page file should be sufficient to handle a big game. If 8 gb is enough a dozen AIs then a 64 gb page file would allow about a 100. I don't think 100 is out of reach at all, unless I am all wet, of course. Rather the issue will be that the alien turns will take a while. And perhaps getting the AI to be relatively as intelligent on a big
Most of the time when I have killed off an empire (last colony taken over) there are a few enemy ships left, and they do not disappear, they become pirates. At least that is what I conclude, as when I attack them I get a message that I have to declare war on the pirates to attack them. Kind of a weird mechanic as I was just fighting the same ships, and then because their empire fails, I have to declare war again to attack them. I have
I can't remember where it was mentioned atm, but they have indicated that the galaxy generation routine needs to be fixed. Both the numbers of different types of planets and the arrangement of the planets (clustering and such) could not quite be included in the last patch because of a time factor, but it should be much better in the next release. IIRC. <br /
If you have a repeatable crash, which is what it sounds like, they need the crash files, the save game, and so forth --- see the support FAQ. This is important --many of us have freezes crashes from time to time but can't reproduce them, while you seem to have caught a "live" one. When you submit a ticket they have an easy interface to submit multiple files --- they WANT that stuff! Disable your Anitvirus if you need to. In fact, having a realtime antiviru
The text issues are well known --- I myself submitted a ticket on it and I was informed they are working on it with no ETA. Sometimes they are just annoying but other times I can't figure things I need to understand. Hopefully the January patch will help with this. In my experience enemy starbases and shipyards remain there and unusable,
Of course very large scale games, though insane, sound very attractive, superficially. But I think there almost inevitably has to be a problem when there are a LOT of AI factions. As in Civ, it is almost inevitable that some faction will snowball while they are completely out of reach. (With 99 AI opponents there will be many more than one, I suppose.) Which should make the game practically imp
Pressing down on the wheel is a third main mouse button. Or should be.
The default for the pressing down the wheel is "flip". Makes sense! It's Microsoft! [addition] Oh, and looking at it again I find I can reprogram the mouse wheel push to also be a middle button press, which as you suggest, it what it "should" have been.
Well, perhaps I am just getting old (perhaps?! LoL!!), but the standard font size in this forum is difficult for me to read. Point is, I would also appreciate (perhaps an option?) to get bigger text sizes.
Well, I have a Microsoft wheel mouse, 2 buttons and a wheel with 2 additional buttons at the sides. In order to rotate a ship in the design, I had use the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center program and configure one of the side buttons to be a middle-click. Then I could press this side button and rotate however I wanted. OK, my 2c....this is NOT intuitive.</span
I have a 1gb Radeon HD 5700 series video card. Should be ok, I think. I completed reiinstalling Windows today and was pleased that the file system check now worked. I have loaded up GalCiv3 and played 2.5 hr on a large map without incident. Well, we shall see!
After some thought and the realization that I have not reinstalled windows since I got my XPS 8100 (4 yrs), I have decided to reinstall the OS and go from there. I found a guide on the web for doing a clean install for a Dell, so here goes nothing. He's pretty thorough so I bet I won't be up and running for a while! LOL, it's the journey that is the fun, right? </p
What my reading of the Microsoft forums suggest is that I need to do a Windows install - repair. Since I have a Dell, this means I will wipe everything and have to reinstall everything. UGH. I have tried reinstalling the game a few times, with indifferent success.
I ran SFC and it reported that there were corrupt files but that it could not repair some of them. Although the log file says that "all files and registry keys found in this transaction were repaired" Huh. Well, I will just try to get another freeze I guess. Log file: <a href="
