Well, I can't say I haven't played extensively as Steam is reporting 99 hrs played. LoL. So it isn't stopping me.
Have you turned off virus check programs? I found out that was causing my problems. So, until the 2nd or 3rd patch comes out for this version, I have to disable the programs before I start.
I use IObit game booster and set it to turn off Avira, Malawarebytes, and a bunch of other stuff. (And I checked that it is doing it). It releases about 250mb of memory, which is not a lot but every bit helps. But n
The first time you upgrade a starbase you can choose mining. If a resource node is in range of the starbase, you will mine it, and it will show up when you click on the starbase as a resource. That's all the mining there is at present.
It seems likely to me that this is just another balancing item on the endless list for SD. I would add that at present you can go benevolent and build only culture stuff on starbases and take over the galaxy without a fight (well, maybe blowing up pirates or leftover stuff from a race that you just overran (or overinfluenced, lol). At least with all the AI on normal. Haven't tried on higher difficulty. <span s
I think I proved it is not a memory issue. I turned on windowed mode and also started the performance meter and selected available memory to display. At each stage I waited until the numbers stabilized --- it can take a while for the monitor to catch up. Max Available Bytes (gb) Before GC3 starts = 6.4 (Windows in using the rest) start GC3 to main menu = 4.1 Load H
I have had tickets opened for beta 2 and for beta 3. Unfortunately I have never encountered a freeze that was reproducible (Reload and keep playing, no freeze) except for once early in Beta 2 and that has not recurred. And they happen at any time...clicking turn, opening research, clicking on a ship or colony, whatever. So there doesn't seem to be a clear path to improving things. (Yes I have done all the suggested fixes multiple times.) <
Let me try to put some perspective on this (perhaps then everyone will disagree with me!). Back in the day you bought a disk and if you had the disk you could play. Anybody who had the disk could play. I remember there were a very few games where multiplayer (only) could be done with one disk - the idea being that if someone played a couple times they would go out and buy their own disk so that they could play with other people.

Very Interesting! I switched to windowed mode (1600x900) and instead of getting a freeze about every 3-4 hours I was getting one every 5 minutes or so. Obviously with PCc "one's mileage may vary". I switched back to full screen 1920x1080 and every settled down and I could play for at least 2 hours without issues.
This was the first time the captcha appeared for me. I assumed it was new and universal, but perhaps it is only an occasional check.
In Beta 3 I now have about 14 hrs and I have had 4 (apparently) random freeze-ups. I am playing at 1920x1080 full screen, 8 gb memory. Looking at the problems mentioned above I guess I should be rather pleased. Of course other games that I have played, which are well past release and have had lots of patches, I can play for days without a hitch, like Civ5, Civ4, Total War games, Skyrim, etc. (And I could easily play a long game of GC2
My experience is that saving the game, exiting the game, and restarting then loading that same save game will restore the colors. But what I am seeing may not be exactly what you have experienced.
Please to note: In submitting a ticket to support, you are required to give a captcha set of letters. I found that if you include spaces, you will be told there is no match and you will have to try again. Run all the letters together, with correct case. <span style="font-size: smal
I have been running on a huge map. The general area you get before you make first contact is critical, of course. With settings on occ/occ I started a game with no habitable planets in my area. Then I cranked up to common planets, still occ habitable. I got 28 stars and 39 planets (there were 2 systems with 4 planets) in my starting area. 3 planets were habitable - 5 - 9 and
If I have just missed something that has already been explained, mea culpa. 1. Just a few hours into Beta 3, it seems to me that techs should cost around 50-100% more (at least) to buy from the AI. What is your thinking here? I was Terran - is cheap tech a bonus from diplomacy? it appeared to cost the same from 2 different AI (211 apiece).</s
I used the default settings and it seemed perhaps slightly more sparse but quite playable. Heh heh, I also noticed that the Altarians got a very sweet collection of nice planets! Could be you just randomly got a bad map? It does sound strange though.
My experience is different for 2) events didn't seem choppy to me. 3) didn't see lag in designer; maybe i didnt get far enough into it. 12) I agree it's hard to say because between beta 2 and 3 strategies for the different races are going to change noticeably...I think (of course I have only played
I have notices that in the new release if planets are in range they are automagically set to sponsor the shipyard. I found the second planet to support a shipyard also behaved normally once connected. As mormegil says, nothing is being lost, it is just a bit confusing at the moment.
I have submitted a ticket on what looks like the same thing... although you described it a bit better!
Duh...I will send some screenshots when I get a chance this evening!
Ah, apparently once one builds a shipyard, control is returned to the slider. For planets without shipyards it is moot.
I don't know if this is a bug or a new feature. The first colony I made, when I attempted to adjust the slider for mil/soc production, it was stuck at 50 per cent. Perhaps I need to research some tech, though I don't see it straight off. Let me know and I will submit a ticket if it is not intended. <span style="f
Ticket submitted, with zip file.
Similar to the above. On the planet screen the tool tip for Starbase is not clearly visible.
First thing I noticed in 0.60: When starting a new game and selecting a race, many of the tool tips for the race traits have the text cut off or only partially readable.. I am running AMD HD 5770 with at 1920x1280. If you need more info, please ask. <span style="font-
