Quoting ReaperIsRollen, reply 12 This is kind of a concern for a 4x multiplayer game, how the hell can the matches work when most normal people have jobs, school or.girlfriends? A.I takeover or maybe ur faction becomes untouchable untill you come back? Maybe like a persistant game, I don't know has stardock hinted yet how they are going to do it? You can save the game and join up again lat
Star Control is more of a 'ship RPG' kind of thing if that makes sense? SC2 is definietly worth taking a look at if you can get it on GOG. SC2 has a similar kind of funny/dark humor that GC2 does as well
I would not call it a RPG, it lacks most key elements of what makes a RPG. I would call it simply a Space adventure game, but its very unique in design. The humor is kind of similar to the one in GalCiv but SC2 is way more over the top.</p

I understand the thrill and exhilaration of being the one to say ''First!'', but personally i would probably be more inclined to start off in small maps with 1v1 or something. Or some 1v1v1 bloodbath. Playing a 4x online ought to be something I would like to be as expedient as possible. Seeing how a single player game takes week to complete on the largest maps, doing it with 8 humans is just asking to have multiple updates of the alpha coming in and screwing

Well, I think the original Star Control was different but the game that is most well know is Star Control II, which is not at all like GalCiv. It is a pretty unique space adventure game. What StarDock is aiming for with their reboot is game in the same spirit as SC II. There is a free remake of the original SC II game that is known as Ur-Quan masters. Look it up, its really good. There is a HD version, ive been playing it and its great fun and addictive.
quoting post Right now, Stardock has 6 games in prototype of which only 2 have been vaguely mentioned We’re over a year away from release. Don't get me wrong, I love the series and want you guys to take as much time as needed to make the best game possible, but damn, still over a year away, seriously? I thought this would be a mid-2014 release.
Quoting Sanati, reply 47 Is this just a campaign faction? That story there really doesn't lend itself at all to a normal 4x game start. They have no planet or civilians, it's a war fleet popping out of a pocket dimension. It would be kind of strange if they then started a game with a planet, colony ship, and single unarmed (or armed) flagship, like everyone else. Yeah, this is something that has occa

I never had problems with Skyrim crashing. I have almost 3 dozen mods installed. The secret is testing them and seting them up properly. And the load order is also important. Not saying a faulty mod cant make the game crash but if you proceed carefully you should be able to isolate it and remove it. Btw FarCry 3 is kind of like Skyrim but with guns.

Not sure you posted that in the right thread buddy :p Btw, my first Ur-Quan masters game just ended, I failed. I took too much time :p Vets of the game will know what happened then, I wont put more details so as not to spoil it for others, if they feel like trying this game. It is very worth it. This game is great. I am playing it without any kind of guide/walkthrough as to keep the magic there. I will start over and now that I better know how to get

I dont like ponies, but I do like fearless battle crazed suicidal space furries. Now that StarDock has the liscence, I vote for the introduction of these guys:
What I do not like in the space 4x games with 3d maps Ive played is that the 3D limits the "Free roaming" aspect. You always have to tavel along lanes. Is there a 3d map with free roaming somewhere? It seems it would be hard to implement UI wise. If Stardock ends up releasing as much expansion and DLC material as they have a habit of doing, which I do not doubt they will, then yes it will be a bargain package. At least if you compare it to buying every single items on release day where prices are highest. But I do not think the founder Elite package should be seen as a mere ''bargain package'', I think it should be seen as a way for Fans of the GalCiv franchise to support Stardock and help them polish the game

A good read, here is my opinion on two things.
Generally speaking, while the UI should work at 1280x768 I think it should be optimized for 1920x1080. Right now, at 1920x1080 the UI seems quite small to my eyes. That might just be me though. But it seems a shame that the game appears less friendly
I second this. I hate tiny UI, especially with my very poor vision problem. 1920x1080 is pretty much the s
