Back during the time of FE beta there was a post template for bug reporting, with a forum section for that. Basically you make a post with a standardized title that identifies it clearly as a bug report for version x. You write a description on how the bug happened and include save game and that`s it. I expect there will be the same once the GalCiv III alpha is out. Reporting bugs or problems in the most formalized and concise manner makes their job easier and is probably
I wouldn't have a problem with tech trees that were to big to be filled.
^This. I expect the tech tree to be too big to be filled. In your average game at least. I expect you to fill what is the most relevant to your goals for the game. For instance if you want to go for cultural victory, you would fill the culture boosting part of the tech tree but not have all weapons researched etc..&nb
They obviously do not/will not read or at least consider everything. They would need several full time employees to process all the rambling that will take place once the Alpha/Beta are released. But this being said, I know StarDock will consider what happens in the forum and what the players/testers will say. Even if they do not respond directly. When something gets posted about over and over they will take notice, like for the dual Queue thing.
I think the idea of starports being separated from their planets is actually pretty good. That could be an interesting twist of the dual queue Idea. It also makes sense. You would think starships would be built in orbit anyway. It Could allow one to destroy the starport with ships and besiege the planet.
Omg I was playing Age of wonder II like... over 10 years ago? Damn I think I still have the original CD chucked in some binder somewhere. I should give it a retro Spin :p I nearly forgot about that game. One of the thing I remember about AoW2 is how I liked to mass produce Swashbucklers with their shotguns they owned.
There were a couple sorting options on the planet panel completely absent from the colonies tab. The most important of which was the ability to sort through uninhabited and enemy planets. I use both extensively and probably spend more time on the colonies tab than the planet list, but if I had to do without one I'd lose the colony tab with no hesitation at all. Anything you can do on the colony tab can be do
It's been proven that being pessimistic reduces the risk of accidents by an undetermined percentage. Edit: My favourite color is Red, and then gray...
I have to say that I do the reverse while I use the Planet/ship tab; because it is better to my opinion on changing the build Ques for my whole empire. Quoting InquisitorFelix, reply 6
I wonder why you say that, I find the complete opposite. In fact there is no advantage to the Ship/planet panel Vs the Colonies Tab which give you all the same options along with more detailed i
And I might add that the Discount ended back in january :p I had the discount too, but same as others, it went unused because I own pretty much every Stardock games.
For those who really like tactical battles there is Sins of a solar empire and Sword of the Stars. What I did not like "much" about Endless space Card system is the large part of it that is based on luck or randomness initially, Until one of your opponent becomes predictable to the point where you can use the same strategy against them over and over and it works every time. Ex: You use a fleet with mostly long range lasers. Opponent uses a card to boost Shields to counter your
Sorry, duplicated post.
That is the kind of detail that seems very secondary to me, especially since it would be very resource intensive for the company to develop such a vast "planet surface rendering system" I much prefer Stardock to use their time and ressources to make a Solid Strategy game experience and polish the UI and Gameplay and other Essential elements of the game.
^I really marvel at how some users of Stardock forums are statistically very likely to go around plastering convoluted wall of text consisting of pure guess-work.:p
The UI in GalCiv II is pretty dated, GalCiv III has a really good tool tip system that gives you a lot of helpful information.
I always thought the Galciv 2 UI to be very solid. The thing I find most "Dated"
Personally I definitely prefer the numbers to have units of measurements beside them, It really help knowing immediately what you are looking at when you are gazing at a screen full of numbers. Please at least keep it as an option in the display settings or something, I do not mind if they are Off by default, as long as they can be turned back on. I suppose this is a bit what happened when Microsoft decided to hide file type extensions by default. "Bah this is jus
Quoting EvilMaxWar, reply 3 Its all nice but I am apprehending a complete forum mess "à la" Fallen Enchantress BETA style. I emphasize with your feelings of apprehension about the Elemental (the game that shall not be named) experience and how it might be repeated with the GalCiv3 roll-out. "Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me" - to paraphrase one version of the '
I am MaxWar ( I eventually converted from Evil, but I dared not ask StarDock to change my name for something as Petty as Ethical alignment.) Been Playing 4x, Strategy games since dear childhood; Civilization, Colonization, Master or Magic were the holy trinity of my initiation to those games. Been playing GalCiv since GalCiv 1 on windows. While I liked GalCiv1, I never thought it to be particularly extraordinary. But then GalCiv2 + expansion turnout out to be my all time favou
Here is an exemple of how Dual production queue is a great feature. "Oh noes! The Evil Drengin just DOW on me and are coming with legions of ships. I need to shift to military production to counter them." This scenario happened to me in my current galciv2 game. With dual production queue, I just adjusted the sliders. I put the social production to 5% and concentrated on research and ship building. It took 2 sec to do as most of my planets are already build
I was playing GalCiv2 the other day and it struck me again just how fun this game is. The mature version ( with all the patches and expansions ) of GalCiv2 really is a little Gem. I have yet to play another space 4x that feels so rich. I would say the main flaw of GalCiv2 is that it is not perfect. Can GalCiv3 really be better? StarDock will have to work pretty hard to beat that [e digicons][/e]
I also liked the dual production queue and the production focus feature and everything in Galciv 2. It sets the game appart from most other 4x. But I guess It might be argued that it is a lot of micromanagement for not much real strategic value. Still, I am quite comfortable with the dual queue/slider system and it makes the game feel more "organic" and less like, say, a board game or something. But ill save judgment for later too ;)
I also throw in my vote in favor of the humorous content. It is something I always liked About GalCiv. The humor is part of the game now. I say keep going with the Margarita approach. Is there a way to activate the Tech reports when trading techs in GalCiv2? I am missing on all the reports because I trade techs too much.
Ah sorry yes, you are right. I had not checked at that place, only in the spy list, which is incomplete. They must have gotten it by trading with someone else.
You are right, I have never thought about checking in their stats directly but its there. They seem to have Native toxic world colonization. Maybe after polluting the earth for centuries it became a toxic wold itself and humans adapted to it. [e digicons]XD[/e] On a side note, they also have aquatic colonization bonus. And once again it does not seem that they have the tech. Yet I cannot trade it to them. Strange.
Blork! "Should always be pronounced with the ! " Edit: Or maybe Gusto , one of my favourite english word.
That's it Stardock, you sold me a 100$ pre-order :p GalCiv2 is one of my all time favourite game so I am very excited about GalCiv3 I Just downloaded all the music tracks and gotta tell you this might be the best music a Stardock Game ever had. GalCiv2 had pleasant and fitting music. FA was honestly a bit bland and generic but now this music has much more personality. Or maybe it just fits my tastes better ;) Music has always been a big factor of imm
Ahh, the OS/2 icon editor. We had OS/2 at home when I was a kid and the 9 years old myself would make custom icons for all his games. Good memories.
