This is hardly something new or revolutionary ... VR headsets have been forecast as the next big thing for a couple of /decades/ now, as has 3D, but the fad comes and goes. I don't see any particular reason why it might /really/ take off this time compared with all the previous fizzle-outs. I definitely wouldn't throw out your PC-with-a-monitor game development studios just yet (and I certainly hope you don't), but I
Also, you can copy your entire steam library to a new computer with say, an external hard drive, and steam will just use the data and you wont need to redownload the games. Unlike *cough* GOOGLEDRIVE
MOBAs brings the worst out of gamers. But still, the Dota 2 numbers are quite... impressive. What else is impressive is that Banished, that little city building game made by a single dude is in the Steam top 25 :D
But hand painted portraits. Couldn't do that for WOM/LH/FE obviously because players designed their own units.
Haha, very true. Somehow that had not crossed my mind. Thanks for the slightly revealing Screenshot :) That's a lot of beach btw.
While I am excited about Elemental( 2015? ) and the prospect of finally having a worthy spiritual sequel to MoM, I can`t help but notice from the last screenshot that it seems to have the same 'Cardboardish' art style as previous elemental games. Not a big fan of that. This is admitedly subjective and is not what will make or break the game but just saying. One exemple of something I like is good quality hand painted portraits for units and heroes ins
Didnt know that! That is actually Quite interesting. I was surprised that Civ V has higher traffic than Skyrim! That should tell a little something to those who think 4X are a dying genre. I wish GalCiv II had higher numbers but hey its a pretty old game and many of its hardcore fans are not counted as they probably don't have it on steam. I bought it retail in 2006 and then bought the expensions on StarDock Central, hehe. Thanks for sharing that. <
I typically don't update my drivers unless I run into a problem, I still update them every now and then of course but I am not OCD about having the very last version at all time. My current GPU drivers are less than 2 months old.

I noticed OS (Win 7 Pro) and a decent LED monitor would together add another $400-600. I have friend who is a GalCiv freak and he is in the same boat: needs a new system -- he saw online Alienware units from $799 to $2499. Catchy brand theme, but I'm not sure about them; I prefer to build mine and help my friend with his to

32 gb ram? Holy crap that was the size of my hard drive 12 years ago.
I used to hate Steam with a passion. But more recently I made peace with it and came to like it. Steam and valve changed and evolved over the years, in a good way I would say.
While i Really liked the SotS 3D maps and found that orientating in them was pretty easy i have to Agree with Gaunathor that the "Go everywhere you like" is too huge a hurdle both in Control asspects as in Visualitation asspects to make it work on Current Controll and Display Techniques. You would need a proper "3D"-Mouse of a kind and a real 3D Vision to make it even remotely feasable in my opinion. And 3D Vision has to go beyon
IIRC the game will be available from steam and you would get a steam key no matter what even if you buy it directly from stardock. But to answer your question, I think StarDock want a more select crowd yo buy the Alpha. Put it on steam and you will have retards buying it there and then writting bashing reviews for the game based on the Alpha.
Well, agreed that ram price is not very expensive nowadays, but you don`t really need more than 8 gb right now, 16 is not really necessary for most stuff, including all games I know. So that can easily cut 60-70$ or more off the bill. I just noticed you are a fellow canadian! Tomorrow I will check out a bit for you and see what I could recommend for 400-600$ that is available in Canada. Maybe if you want to reveal your city I could check more specifically. One quick advic

In truth, while my desktop system has given me 7+ years of great service, I am long, long, long over due for a new one, and I am in fact currently prowling the market for somethi
The only advantage I can give to the sliders in galciv 2 is that they made comparing the relative importance of each very obvious. It`s kind of like looking at 3 glasses with different quantity of liquid in them. Its pretty instinctive to know which one was the fullest, emptiest, or when they were equal. The production wheel is more abstract, but I think it will allow for much more efficient control once you get used to it, which should not really be a problem, its hardly very complic

Har har har Also, It would be nice if you could survey your empire and check your planets and queues and everything while you are not playing your turn. Keeps you busy planning while waiting and allow you to be more ready when its your turn to play. Just having a blank screen saying ''Pls wait while other players do their moves'' would be Meeehhhhh
E-cum-men? More on topic. I hope there will be possibility of time limit per turns.
A lot of the hi-cheese strategies seem to involve diplomacy, this is why I wanted to play a game isolationist style as the Yor and see if I can win without those. Some other tricks I have found usefull. -You are better off building low tech buildings on all tiles than Hi tech buildings on half the tiles. -Aim to have your production slider at 100% at all time. -Having ships almost fully built but then put at the end of queue can be a way to have military
