Yeah the ability to globally shut off auto-upgrades has been requested for literally years now. Adding my vote for it, again.

I make a custom faction, select citizen portraits for them (from the Altarian portraits). When I play the game, it keeps using the default human portraits instead of the Altarian portraits I selected. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? Really annoying, again.
Never mind, I finally found the folders needed to copy to the other folders that are actually part of the game.
I am trying to figure out how to get the citizen portraits back for when I am making a custom civilization. I saw a post about copying something from Steam/steamapps/whatever to my game files, but I can't find the Steam files to copy anywhere. Why did you guys have to make this so difficult? Why can't the portraits just be in the regular game automatically like they used to be? Yes I am computer fucking stupid, that's why I pay money for a game, so somebody else takes care of the annoying stu
Yeah aquatic is vastly superior to standard carbon based life in this game, for many different reasons. The examples you mentioned are a few of them, but not even all of the reasons. I haven't played Intrigue yet though, so not sure what all has changed. Going by SD's normal operating procedure, I figure the game won't be "functional" by my standards for at least another 3 months. So I'll wait for a minimum of 3 months and a couple patches, then a Steam sale, before I try it out. &nbs
I think maybe they "replaced" them with that one mission you can build at shipyards; the salvage mission that goes and looks for ships. That is just my guess. It is kind of hard to tell if what they do with the anomalies is planned or just broken accidents. Like there are still a lot of the anomalies that say something like it helps your research "grow by leaps and bounds", but it doesn't actually do shit.
Endless Space 2 is pretty good. Not for diplomacy, just agreeing with ForesterSOF :P
There is something that happens in almost every game I play, that I have been wondering if it should be "fixed". I end up making contact with many civs because one of those silly seemingly unlimited range trade ships crosses into the sensor range of one of my scout ships or flies by one of my planets. So my civilization is in contact with them for diplomacy purposes now, even though they might be literally on the other side of the galaxy (and I play on ludicrous size maps). And inevit
Oh wow, so Greg Johnson is one of the guys that made Starflight? I just want to say thanks Greg!!! Starflight was the very first space exploration type of game I ever played. I absolutely LOVED that game. I'm pretty sure it is still my favorite space game of all time, and will probably always remain in my Top 10 Games of all Time list. The game play and story of Starflight was awesome. What you guys accomplished with the technology available at the time was amazing. As for the rest of
I have been telling them "Station Garrison" was broken since it first became available. I wish you good luck in getting them to fix it.
Yep that is exactly the issue I often have also darknicademis
My issue is NOT with the power of the carrier fighters, it is their combat role. They are supposed to be "assault" class ships, meaning they go straight for the enemy forces. Mine often spawn as "guardian" class ships, meaning they stay in the back and only defend when enemy ships come into range of whatever it is they are defending.
Ya it is kind of annoying...
I ALWAYS make my carriers "capital" class ships. I have never seen any point in wasting a large hull size to have it sit in the back.
Yeah quit trying to touch my ludicrous map size please ! :P But honestly I think your system requirements are very "cautious". My AMD FX 9590 eight core 4.7 GHz with only 16GB of RAM seems to handle ludicrous map sizes fine (usually with abundant stars, common planets, uncommon habitable planets, and 20 opponents, if I remember correctly). I do get an occasional total system lock that forces me to reboot; but I get the same system lock when playing Endless Space 2, so it i
Ya that is what I mean about you are better at "gaming the system" than me. I don't use the Pragmatic "invincibility for 50 turns" thing, just because I think it is a silly kind of broken thing that is "unrealistic". I might select it sometimes just to get to some of the other Ideology options further down that line, but I don't select it for the "haha i'm immune to your declaration of war" anymore. Sure I do take advantage of some game mechanics against the AI, but I prefer to play somewhat
Honestly I would prefer you spend 30 minutes or however long it would take you to fix the broken "Station Garrison", before changing any other game mechanics. I don't really mind how food works at the moment.
I don't know why but carriers are still usually broken for me most of the time. They rarely seem to spawn "assault" ships, and often give me useless ass "guardian" class fighters. Apparently they work just fine for everybody else though. I haven't tried building them yet in my current game so who knows, maybe they will actually work right this time. I doubt it though...
Yeah I often play with a custom made Xenophobic race, I agree it is over powered. They really should cut the bonus down to +100% to research and social production, instead of the +200% it is currently at. Although I think playing at "genius" difficulty with research and gameplay set to "slow" is still presenting a challenge for me at the moment. I'm currently in the middle of a game where about 4 races have declared war on me before turn 150, and I'm not sure if I will be able to dig
Yeah that happens a lot. I have about 1800 hours of playtime, but only actually FINISHED maybe 6 games. Granted most of the ones that I don't finish is because I just get bored with the game; but many games I have also quit because a patch has messed them up in some way.
OK so it now requires Helios Ore to create legions. That's cool, I'm fine with that change I suppose. HOWEVER It is now more important than ever to keep a tight management of how you use and deploy your legions since it just became MUCH harder to build them up and replace them. SO FOR THE LOVE OF F*@$&*!# GOD SD WOULD YOU PLEASE SHUT OFF THE F*#^!&$@ AUTO BUILD ON "Station Garrison" PLEASE !!!!!! I mean god damnit, this has been stupid since it
It has been a long time since I tried playing as a synthetic based race, so I decided to take one for a test run again. And damn, they are pretty bad now. It takes 1 durantium and 1 promethium to make 0.5 population? While a city that provides non-synthetics with a MINIMUM of 3 population only costs like 4 promethium? Bleh. Also synthetics have always had pretty weak buildings that they could make, like no space elevator, no deep core mine, no space port, etc; but they made up for their crapp
What lyssailcor said. It is really hard now to distinguish between explored and unexplored space.
Why does Station Garrison from the planet build list still keep auto-producing until you manually cancel it? Having a planetary project that uses up valuable resources (like your supply of legions) as an auto-build is really damn annoying. It should be a "one and done" project that you have to select again for each legion you want to station as a garrison. I know I brought this up at least 6 months ago. I was really hoping this would be fixed by now. Kind of like I was hoping
So I recently got back into playing GalCiv 3 after taking a break for a few months. Started playing with version 2.71. There are a lot of nice changes and polish, so that's all good. However after playing for a while I discovered that the game still has one thing that is extremely broken, and it has been broken for literally over a year now. Since Crusade began, and it was carried over from the base game befo
