Most of my planets in GalCivII are not specializaed in anything. A backwater manufacturing planet here, a secondary research colony there... Exceot the planet in my initial system, that always goes manufacturing. Being forced to specialize all my planets doesn't sound good to me.

If Stardock wanted totaly privacy about the alpha, they wouldn't allow videos and yet they allow them (as long as you mention it's an alpha and such).
Yes I agree that a restricted access part of the forum for alpha and founder vault subjects would be a very good idea.
But you can actually talk about the founder's vault stuff and the alpha. You just cannot quote or distribute the files of the vault. And alpha is just like... a month more? Not worth a restricted area?

That increase factor could be map size dependant (if it's not already). The problem I see there is that there's what i see as a fundamental design flaw currently The only way to bootstrap Ideology is entirely 'random' You can only get them if you get Anomalies or via Planet Events.
What concerns me right now is the system doesn't scale well. It would appear that you can hit the highest tiers pretty easily. And that's only going to get worse when we have larger and larger galaxies and more planets pumping out ideology points Civ5 had a mechanic by which larger empires were penalized for the next culture "tier" for each new city. Though I'm not sure if that mechanic makes sense here. &nb
Each race should have FORBIDDEN planet types - not only should they not be able to research that planet type tech, they shouldn't be allowed to trade for that tech. This makes is more interesting when there's planets out there that you simply can't ever use, but others might be able to. And also seems logical, because presuming all races can colonize any planet with just "the right tech" seems a major stretch.
You want
Agreed there needs to be penalties for pursuing multiple ideologies at once. Otherwise your people will be getting very mixed messages from their leader.
Like in real life. It's fine to earn points in different trees. It's fine to "waste" points in different trees at the same time. If someone wants to be a jack of all trades about it, he should be allowed as long as he finds the means for it.

I wonder if we will get "Dying Empires" to discover and conquer. Wild lands like. With their own chance of unique techs/resources and such. Most probably not though. But on topic, pirates/spaceCreatures are ok in my book.

As a "cheap" alternative to a full blown race creator for the diplo screen with its 3D models and such, a 2D variation would work for me too. I'm not really sure if 2D is actually cheaper to produce than 3D but transparents layers of stuff overlapping sounds easier (to my ignorant mind). Something like RPGMaker character creator, or that HeroMachine app... And can be potantially used by more people to add their own stuff too (unlike 3D). Just throwing ideas about something that at

A race creator tool that allow stuff like the Elemental saga one would be a very nice secondary feature for the game. Not for the basic release because there are other more important stuff, one of which is the starship builder (which is the same but for ships). And as Kryo said, it'd be only for the diplo screen, unlike E/FE/LH where you get to see the results in the map at all times. But for an expansion pack? That would be a very nice addition. Not having to depend on pic editio
