I like to play big maps with occasional habitable planets and pretty much everything else. I have a hard time with finding information I really need. 1) Where are the potential planets I have discovered and what are their sizes? 2) What starbases have what upgrades or have a constructor that docked and I can choose an improvement. 3) What other faction ships are in my area and where? 4) Really missing those graphs for power, research, etc. Please get those in s

An idle starbase or some notifier like we get for ships and planets would be ideal. Also, I would like to be able to cancel when I choose a module. There are times when I accidentally click the wrong upgrade and I am stuck with it. Kind of like there is no confirmation for creating a starport with a constructor (at least last time I screwed up) when you really wanted a starbase.
Excellent testing my friend! I tried buying off a new planet and they wouldn't. I didn't think to reverse it. Glad you found these and they will be looked at hopefully sooner than later.
Yes, please let me scroll out more! Some nice things Hawawaa, but I have to move back about 10 feet to read your font without feeling like I am in the front row of a movie theater. [e digicons];P[/e]
Very good in your "random feedback". Many are probably "in the pipe", but it is good to list them out. Now some comments on your major points. It is just my thoughts, so take them with a grain of salt. UI/text -I agree that there could be better notifications. That is probably still in discussion. Everyone agrees the text needs cleaned up. That said, it is fruitless for the poor person doing it when the values will probably change multiple times during the beta. That wou
Thanks for the streams. It is great that you guys would even think about being on a hot seat every Friday. [e digicons][/e] I haven't got a chance to play that much of beta 2, but there seems to be numerous text display issues. I didn't really see that addressed in the stream. It is very annoying while playing. I am sure it was probably because of the large font option you added, and it doesn't really have an effect on game play, but drives me nuts. Perhaps I
Yea, first time I loaded the beta, it took forever. I got the "not responding" message, but decided to let it continue to try. A couple of minutes later it started up. I set up my first game and it crashed when I hit the "Manage" button on my home world. I restarted the game and it came up normally and I was able to play. Something about the first game after patching seems to make it go nuts.
I have a idea: I want to a modd where lights and civilization only spawn on useable tiles to simulate cities when looking at a planet, and when viewing the planet. Tiles would have a city like background when viewing it. And once a improvement is made on a tile that improvement is shown most on the tile, with the traditional picture of the improvement on the tile shown as being faded or not at all. Replying to your post Yes, black holes in FOW still show First time to start the game took forever, I thought it was locked up. I was finally able to get in, started a new game on a huge map with the Krynn. Moved all my ships, etc. as soon as I click my home world to manage, crash. It wasn't repeated in a second attempt to start a new game either, but I it looks like it is not Earth dependent. The manufacturing queue has never updated correctly from the govern slid
Hmm, a plant based faction, like Ents from LOTR perhaps. They naturally have longer life support range due to hibernation. They can deal with more ranges of temperature, so the spaceship doesn't have to use as much energy to sustain them. However, the do suffer from slow growth (and termites) Perhaps they have anteaters for pets. Some factions could even have allergies to them when they pollinate! A ragweed bomb! Oh the possibilities!
Sweet, hopefully the update will be available this week. Thanks for the information/
I know there will be an October(ish) beta 2, but we haven't had an update in 2 weeks. Will there something soon (tm)?
As has been noted, the idea that in a hundred + years when intersellar travel is possible, can we not have an idea of planets BEFORE going there? I am not saying there can't be an easter egg, but the idea you have no idea of how many planets or even if they are gas giants is ridiculous. In the last 20, and especially less than 10 years, we are finding planets right and left! Put a limit on size vs range of tech to know, I am good with that. Hell, we will probably practically map Alpha Cen
The more niche the game, the more the gamer (or reviewer) bias. In the reviewer category, as an example, they loved the movie "The Piano". My wife and I saw it and were not impressed. I feel reviewers like something "different" even if it sucks because they see so many movies. The casual movie viewer (insert gamer here) has a different opinion. As to Metacritic, my good friend is trying to get me to come back to Rome II. It was a steaming pile for months and he said it was good, so...
Well, if it is a "feature" then the player should be able to directly tell it to go to an anomaly that is out of range as well. Since you can't, I still consider it a bug.
That could work even though it could lead to some gamey tactics, i.e. keeping your fleets at strategic point but fully operational. I think it needs to be coupled with a delay timer of some sort to so that you have a drawback to the reduced maintenance.
I have to agree with Tue. If it was just a mothball, save 90% maintenance, then turn it on for free, it would lead to a lot of gaminess. I could put all my ships in mo
Well, IMO they did it so people couldn't invade other colonies by doing a rush. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter as you can wipe out their starports and then wait a long time to get the invasion tech to take them out anyway. It doesn't make much sense IMO that I can be large vessels with deadly weapons and send them all over the galaxy, but not troops. [e digicons]o_O[/e] Really, I still don't even understand why invasion should not be available right of
So nothing new this week for those who opted in past week?
Just wondering if there was going to be a new beta patch today/tomorrow. I can understand skipping a dev talk with the holiday weekend coming, but it would be nice to know for sure. Thanks
OK so i made my epic looking ship and want to test it out...Ahh there is the enemy im going to destroy him so bad..BOOM! oh wait thats it! one explosion! WTH IS THIS CRAP I JUST SPENT ONE HOUR PERFECTING MY EPIC LOOKING SHIP AND CANT WATCH HOW IT PERFORMS IN ANY WAY LOOOL no thanks ill pirate this when its done... so fail to spend so many resources on the most epic of all ship designers ever and not having the ability to play with it or at least se a cut scene how it lo
To me, the fleet size limit is directly in response to spamming. If I can attack with 100 ships with one beam weapon each to a stack of 10 good ships, they will get through the defenses no matter what by sheer volume. With the logistic limit, a few very good and advanced ships will tear up the multiple stacks of cheap junk. With a high limit or no limit, the stack of doom wins. The CIV series was notorious for the SoD. If it had a mix of units that could defend against every type of attack, i
Quoting Tohron, reply 4 meaning that you'd only want the factory if you were focusing the planet VERY heavily on production. I almost always have my planets focusing on only 1 area: wealth, manufacturing, or research.
d
[bug] Several AI planets had cultural and military buildings and no farms or hospitals, etc. There is no point building manufacture and research improvements that give a % bonus when your points per turn is under 9-10. You are better off making growth buildings to increase your population and get more points for all three (four if you count the starport) buckets. Farms are o
Seems to me we are arguing early vs late results. Obviously when you have 100% approval and more pop to go, sure those % increases are better. However, in the long run it is worth it to replace them when your pop gets higher. +1 at 10% is 1.1. a second full one is 2.
