I had try the Ludicrous map size on my laptop. It is not the ideal computer to try this on, and I was wondering if the game would crash or my laptop would melt, catch fire or explode. None of that happened. The ludicrous galaxy generated without a problem, except for being slower than "normal". I even played a few turns without a problem. Moving the view of the galaxy was slower than on a smaller size, which I expected on this laptop. Here are its specs:</p

Playing as the Arcean in a new game with the 2.130 Opt-In. Interstellar Travel tool tip says it "Improves sensor, life support, and speed of all ships." The Unlocks section shows "Ship Range +5" and nothing about improved sensors or speed. When it is researched, only the range is improved. Life support and speed stay the same. Eyes of the Universe tool tip says it "Locates homeworld of all Hyperdrive capable civilizations." When I built it, it had some
I reported a freeze/stuck turn in the forums with a link to a save, and I reported a crash in the trade screen and submitted a save on Ticket #JDD-295-27862. I have just tried loading the saves into this opt-in to see what would happen. In the first case the game did not freeze, and in the second the game did not crash. Congrats to the team for fixing these and to everyone who submitted a save to help them find and fix the bugs. Since there are so many changes in t
I came across these in the game I've been playing today: 1. The notification list on the left side of the galaxy screen tells me I need more Administrators to build more starbases. I had plenty of Administrators and got more later. The notification never went away. 2. I needed money, so I had my shipyards building the Treasure Hunt a lot. Sometimes I would get notification to load a ship with people. For some reason a colony ship was built i
To help show what is happening I recorded some of the game I'm playing when I surveyed two capsules. This is a new game I started today after Hotfix #1. I happened to get the pop up without the research information both times. I used the cursor to indicate what I was examining to show what was and wasn't happening. I did find out that the research is being applied the next turn instead of as soon as was in the version before Crusade. There may still be a problem,
These exploits have been reported in other places, but I started this separate thread to make sure these videos are noticed so the exploit can be easily seen. These are two separate trades in a game that was started this afternoon after Hotfix #1. Video #1 is here . Video #2 is here .
The "Credits per day" instead of per week has been there a long time. Also, if you choose to pay it and check your financial status, you will see that it is actually 21 billion credits instead of 21 credits. There are a lot of places where credits is used instead of billion credits or bc. The actual values are always in billions.
I can only assume that the mapdefs from whatever was the version of GalCiv when Crusade split off (1.9? 2.0?) is in here.
The MapSizeDefs in Crusade are the ones from 1.9, not the ones from 2.0. Changing them to the ones in 2.0 should stop most of the complaints about the sizes of the galaxies. For those who are more insane than the
The map sizes have been reduced to the sizes they were in 1.9 instead of what they were in 2.0. This decreases the sizes for Large through Insane. Also, the values for Base, which I think is used as the starting point for the calculations of the amount of various things to put into the galaxy, have been increased by 67% to 157% over 2.0 for the map sizes, except Insane. Insane is 16% smaller in size with the same Base. Choosing to have settings of Rare or Uncommon shou
I get the popups when the ship is on manual control. I don't get them when it is automated.
Problem When my survey ship explores a Capsule and I get a research bonus, it is normal for the report to look like this. The Problem occurs when sometimes the report looks like this, with the research information missing. <img src="https://www.dropbox.com/s/szid7jro1xo5qu9/Missing%20Resea
When the Opt-In became available Monday morning I started a new game without mods. After eliminating the Drengin, I saved the game. I decided to play a few more turns to see what the Drengin ships that turned pirate would do. The game froze right after that. There was an update later Monday, but the freeze still occurs. The save is available here .<b
I have added the missing Minor Leader images and logo. I have also added an additional minor leader foregrounds so from 1-99 they are all unique. I have also resaved a few of the images, which had "dark" scan lines, I had two different sources files so cleaned them up to the lighter version. Modified the generator script to include new leader foregrounds.
I had a number of new comments to make,
This is great. I added 20 minors with only a little problem figuring out what my silly mistake was. I did find two problems. First, the zip files of the images from both locations are missing minorFaction**FG.png files where ** is 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09. If these are used, there is no image of the race in conversations. I had several of these missing images in some quick test games. Second, I found that the zip files are also missing minorFaction09.png fro
If you mean that you don't see them listed with the other races included in the base game when you are choosing a race to play, it is because they don't display with them. For some reason the display order is this: The races in the base game. All races added by mods. Races added by DLC and the expansion pack, such as Snathi Revenge, Torians, Arceans and United Earth. All custom factions. You need to
I'm confused about the number of soldiers in a Legion. Multiplying all the numbers in the chart about the composition of a Legion gives 2,500,000 soldiers in a Legion. Brad, you report this:
Upon entering orbit, my legions see what they're up against. The Krynn home world is no joke. It has 10 legions garrisoned on the planet. My 1.5 million soldiers will be up against their 5 million soldiers.
Your 3 Legions have 1,500,000 soldiers tot
Galactic Civilizations III: Crusade comes out early Spring...
How many of you noticed the release date has changed from Spring to early Spring? This make me think April 20 or April 27, but what do I know?
I have done of a lot of work (and math!) on the galaxy sizes since the Beta. I started using the number of hexes on side instead of the radius because I found it easier to count. The hexes on a side and the radius in hexes are the same. I began using HexSectorSize because I no longer had to count. The actual size of a side or radius of the galaxy is HexSectorSize +1, so a HexSectorSize of 380 means the actual size of a side or radius of an Insane galaxy is 381 hexes.</
Change the value I posted above (for insane). It will make the map bigger, but, theres bound to be a limit in the engine. Once you hit or go over it, it will CTD.
I changed it to 50% bigger. It crashed during galaxy generation. I then tried 25% - another crash. 10% also crashed. I then increased by 10, to 390. Crash. I then tried an increase of 1, to 381. Crash. So, I
There was a stream. They were trying to get audio from four people in three different locations and had a lot of trouble. The stream was restarted several times. It looks like Twitch only kept the last two, which were as short as you saw. They said they were recording it locally and would try to get up on You Tube "soon", so maybe tomorrow. Edit: I checked Twitch some more and found the rest of the stream in two more parts. Click on Videos at the to
Everyone needs to know that Stardock and many other places are now on Daylight Saving Time. Stardock time is now UTC-4 instead of UTC-5.
Marking Pirate Bases - I do exactly what you do. Marking Monster Bases - I mark them like I do for pirate bases, except I rename them "There Be Monsters Here xx" where xx is 01, 02, etc. Marking Precursor Artifacts - After reading what you do, I am going to start marking them so I don't have to look for them when I can take them out. Actual Rally Points - I have never used them except for war rally points, which I name War 1 or War 2. I've never had
I usually played zoomed out, so I rarely hear any ambient sounds. I have heard moving ships if I am zoomed in enough, and I have heard a star occasionally. I just tested what I could hear in my current game, and it wasn't much. I heard what seemed to be the same sound coming from just a few yellow stars and the same for purple, blue and orange stars. I didn't check them all, but most did not have sounds. I checked all of the white stars, and none had soun
Since it deals with maps, I'm going to guess it means Super Massive Black hole.
During Brad's work for the 1.9 update, he moved the pirates further away from the starting locations of the Races. This reduced the locations where they can appear, so they tend to group together in smaller areas. I have seen 9 pirate bases in a small area. If you play with tight or loose clusters, some pirates show up in the empty spaces, but I have not seen a large number together in the empty spaces. For all the star distribution options, more Races will res
