Your computer is almost identical to mine, except I have Win7. I don't have a problem playing GalCiv3 with mostly high settings - everything is very smooth. You don't mention which GPU you are using. GalCiv3 will use the default one, which might be the Intel HD 4000. I know from experience that it is not as good as the 650M. To determine what GPU is being used, do the following: Right-click on the desktop. Choose NVIDIA Control

I'm glad you like it. A lot of my inspiration came from the conversations in GalCiv2. I hope you don't read it all before you see it in a game, but you may have to play a lot of games to see everything.

I have seen this in a few games. I'm in range by many hexes, then I'm out of range when I move one hex. The dashed line showing the range changes to show new range. I have to move my ship back towards the new range line. If this ship doesn't move very fast, I get the old range back before I reach the line showing the new range. I can then go back and get the same problem again. I have found that I can sometimes go around the problem area.

After watching the video in Brad's post about the Civilization Builder coming in Crusade, I decided I should make my personal conversation mod available to everyone. After playing enough games I had most of the conversations memorized. I had also thought of different things I would like to say to the AI, but they weren't available as choices. I knew it wouldn't matter to the AI, but I really wanted to say something different sometimes. I decided to see if I could

I think the new invasion system will cause a lot of problems. I mean problems like this: I want to invade a planet. Is it defended or not? Who do I send - soldiers, regular citizens or specialist citizens? How many? If it's not defended, it doesn't matter. If it is defended and I don't send enough invaders and lose, all will be killed, and I just wasted my efforts and people. They don't seem to repopulate as quickly in Crusa

Quoting Horemvore, reply 1 Ole Spidey's Map mod removes Administrators as of 2.0. Well, that explains a lot. Guess I'll have to deal with cramped smaller maps. :-/
I have updated it to work with 2.0. See this post .

After the 2.0 Opt-In came out I discovered that my existing mod for 1.9 doesn't work right in 2.0. The Administrators were added to the file I modded, and the 1.9 version of my mod doesn't have them. I have now modded the 2.0 version of the file to have the old and larger map sizes. Since it is the version with the administrators, they appear in the game like they should. I realized I should make a post here so information about them is more easily available.&nb
Out of curiosity, has that annoying little issue of not being able to select a project to "build" when buildings are qued up and you then go to select Economics or Military, for example?
It is not fixed.

Quoting from the GC3 description of the Snathi: "These guys are E-V-I-L! ... Now, after billions of years hoarding their proverbial 'Nuts', the Snathi have metaphorically 'climbed out of their tree' and will 'gnaw the galaxy with their big squirrel-like teeth' ... so to speak." Now there are reports that they are

I have also seen it. Yesterday, in the game I am playing, I saw a stack of 27, then I saw this stack of 76. I would have a lot of problems with these in a fleet since I have no missile defense, and they have armor to defeat my projectile weapons. Our logistics are the same, so our fleets would be unevenly matched, with me on the loosing side. My fleets against

For everyone wondering about the galaxy sizes, they have been reduced in size by 29 to 80% in the 1.9 update. When the game had the original galaxy sizes, some people with weak computers complained that they couldn't play the galaxy sizes they wanted to play. As a result of these complaints, the sizes of the Large and Huge galaxies were reduced. I don't remember when that was, but it was a long time ago. Here is a table with the original sizes,

The problems I reported in reply #3 were on my laptop. After having them, I had changed back to 1.83 on it. I have now changed it to the current 1.9 Opt-In. It ran without a problem. It also started up a lot faster than 1.83. Thanks for everyone's work fixing this.

I got it to work! I changed from my laptop to my desktop and tried it. It crashed like the other times. I then told Steam to delete all GalCiv3 on my desktop and reinstalled GalCiv3 (1.83). I ran it without a problem then exited and updated to the 1.9 Opt-In. When I ran it, it worked without a problem. I'm guessing there is some extra file somewhere in the accumulated files in the current 1.83 that 1.9 doesn't like. A reinstall may fix t

Crashed for me in the loading screen. I don't have AVG. Submitted the report. I also disabled mods before updating to the Opt-In, so it is not a problem with mods. Edit: Tried again, crashed again, submitted report again. Edit 2: Verified files - all OK. Tried again, crashed again. debugg.err file has lots of GFX-THREAD WARNING.

When I tried the save made after the game hung, the turn continued normally without a problem. However, when I tried the save that is one turn before the game hung, strange things happened. This is the save that ends in T277 that I gave all the steps for. I got a notice that Porter M1-1 was being launched empty. As I went through things I saw that the ship AST Selenta M4-2 just to the right of the shipyard at Reverie II was invisible when I was zoomed in but had an i

I have been playing a new game with the 1.83 Opt-In without a problem until one of the races that was at war with another race decided to surrender to me. At the end of that turn, the game hung when I clicked the Turn button. I could do everything, but the turn wouldn't progress. I saved the game and reloaded it. The game still hung when I clicked the Turn button. I did some experimenting and found ways to cause the game to hang or not hang, depending on what I did

After many games, I got the blinking planet list again. This is a new game with the latest version of GalCiv3 and the new DLC. I am not using mods. Details and files submitted on Ticket #IKS-967-95786.
Does it ever launch an attack, lose the battle but weaken your forces somewhat and then move another fleet to attack your fleet/planet in the same turn? In my current game I am in wars with several races (they started them). I have seen the following: An enemy ship destroyed my mining base and moved away in the same turn. An enemy fleet destroyed my starbase and moved away in the same turn. An enemy fleet destroyed the single ship stationed at my planet, then moved and destroyed a mining base in the same turn. Worst of all, a large fleet containing a transport destroyed the single ship stationed at my planet, t

This should make diplomacy a lot more understandable. Numbers are a lot better than a few symbols. I did have two problems in the Diplomacy screen: One relationship was ID_DIPLOMACY_MOOD_ENRAGED Another was ID_DIPLOMACY_MOOD_RESENTFUL I didn't see all the relationships, but the other ones I saw were correct, so there must be something wrong with those two.
