I am a random Player... Well, what I mean is I randomise EVERYTHING in the 4X games I play. I love starting in worlds not having a clue what I`m going to come across... Will there be too many pirates? No pirates? Will I find lots of lovely planets or hardly any? Will I find lots of random loot or none? It may start bad for me easy- I welcome the challenges. I hate knowing what`s coming. The more it`s random at start, the better. I wonder if I`m the on

Noticed how the AI Civs are sharper now. In my new game I was barely started, searching for planets (there were very few habitable) and before I knew it, a Civ declared war on me and invaded with an invasion ship. I hadn`t even bothered with the Universal Translater yet! He took that world leaving me with one! Normally, the AI is never this quick or sharp! Also, when a Civ declares war on you, but you don`t have the Universal Trans
I don`t mind how it is now, though I undrstand why others are upset about the lack of micromanaging ability. If it helps make a better AI, then I`m willing to live with it... Besides, a ruler does not micromanage his Empire unless he wants a nervous breakdown. He delegates.
Thankyou for this 1.4 update, especially with the improved AI. :)
I don`t do Mods on steam. I go Nexus. Also, the main game should be concentrated on first, Mods later. Mods only work as well as the quality of the game, ie fixed and free of most problems.
To Maiden's point about piling on the loser, the weariness effect should be less for defensive losses than for offensive losses. That would make some sense, as it is always more difficult to justify a costly invasion than to justify losses incurred in defending your turf.
Yea, and war weariness should barely have any effect on a nation that has been attacked first and is fighting to survi
isn't it called "wariness"?
No. It`s important to know the difference. War Weariness as in weary, tiring. War weariness is where a society, it`s peoples, get tired of a war. Too much discomfort, too much sacrifices and too many dead sons. This can even happen if the side is winning, ie the US in Vietnam, although there was more to it than just weariness. <
Is it me or is it sometimes difficult to tell what the UP vote decision is on a resolution? Sometimes I can`t tell if it`s Yes or No, there`s no indication.
I agree war weariness should be in, but it`s not so black and white in a Science fiction game... Robotic AI type Factions should mostly likely be immune to war weariness, and only be more susceptible to stopping a war if it suits them logically. Even non-robotic sentient aliens may not care for war weariness if they have a hive mentality where the individual is unimportant and again, only stop when the numbers logically mean the Race would go extinct. &n

When Frogboy originally spoke negatively about improving the AI, it actually made me wish I`d never bought the game. I even uninstalled it and forgot about it, telling myself to do more research in the future. I am not computer programmer, by any means, but I`ve been playing games for nigh on 20 years and have extrapolated enough experience to KNOW that with our present day 64 bit pcs, AI CAN be better. The only bottleneck is the Dev himself! I didn`t bother to say this, what was the point? M

Wow great news! that will really bring life to the game! Cheers, chaps! [e digicons]:D[/e]
1st idea: Can we have Spies? I find it quite strange that a game of this kind has no use for spies. Please allow spies such as... Infiltration spies that... infiltrate cities and report on a planet`s resources, people, armies, ships etc. Spies that steal tech knowledge. Sabotage spies... Bugger up another Faction`s Industry. Fleet spies, that inform me of where an enemy fleet is as long as it remains undiscovered. <p
1. You do know you can set a Governer of each planet in game? My only gripe is they`re not personalised. i`d like to know who`s governing each planet. 2. Too many Techs? Seems perfect to me, you don`t get bored of them too quickly. Also, make a few friends and trade Techs you want quickly. 3. I like the map. It becomes weird if you insist on looking at it from a slanted view, but apart from that it`s pretty easy to tell what is what and see your b
Bit late to this, but i`ll add my bit. 1. On diplomacy. The more Human it can be the better. One of the things I particularly like about GC3`s diplomacy is when a beleagured AI Faction calls me and asks for help saying that another Faction he`s at war with is destroying him. I have wanted this in so many games. In other games a friendly or even Ally AI Faction will just suddenly die and I had no idea and so could do nothing for him. Now in GC3, I actually try to help a
Not really a surprise seeing relatively high ram systems, etc. Pc s today are not half as expensive to build or put together as some seem to think. In fact it`s easy and cheaper for a person of modest means to build a decent gaming rig way more powerful than any say, console and able to do lots of other things than just gaming. My pc is not only a gaming rig but also a work rig.
Retreat options complicate things way to much and will not only cause long draw out standoffs but infuriate players if every battle you couldn't win just because the AI retreated. I mean, i could go into all the reason why it sounds good on paper but to play would be a nightmare but its been said to death [e digicons]:\[/e] . Now just for fun, here is a screen of the old beta invasion screen [e digicons]:P[/e]
I like the idea of fighting over a planet taking a few turns, giving the Player time to react. A planet should take time to occupy. You could say a third of the planet is taken per turn, perhaps shorter with better invasion technology and longer with better defending tech? So if you have all invasion tech it only then happens in one turn? I also like the idea of the AI asking for help too during an invasion. Also you can never fail with Options.
Well it`s just an idea, I could graphically depict the idea, so it`s clearer, if they`re interested...
