You've asked this of players who beat high difficulty a few times, but to tell the truth I've not encountered a single situation in GC 3 at any difficulty where I've needed to save-scum. On the bigger maps, there's just not much point - the impact of any given event is tiny in the grand scheme of things and you'll almost certainly have the resources to recover without resorting to cheating, because the AI presently can'
The best advice I can give right now are just some basic guidelines I follow. The best course of action is often situational. Turn off auto-upgrade improvements. Building a new improvement is often cheaper and more beneficial than upgrading an existing improvement. Start every colony by building manufacturing. Build farms whenever you are near the population cap. It's
Seriously you must be from Mensa. I simply do not find the game that easy at all. And I`ve played a few times. In fact, my greatest fear is that you`ll just make the game even harder for us `plebs` who just aren`t as brilliant as you. That said, i never Reload if I get a bad run, I stick with whatever the outcome is. Do you always Reload until you get the result you want? Be honest now.

If this was a game like Civilisation I`d say well it`s in Human Nature to prey upon the weak. However, you make a good point about Alien nations always attacking if you`re weak. Shouldn`t some alien nations not attack you cos you`re weak just because they don`t work like that? Of course, that said, it`s all very well that the player whines, but I`m pretty sure he`ll attack anyone he sees as weak. I doubt he leaves a vulnerable weak nation alone.
Wait, so what exactly is the benefit to renaming stars?
It`s about immersion. If you own a system, or even if you don`t you should be able to rename everything. You are the leader of your Faction. You own all the cartography maps so you can order everything renamed, even Alien systems (though the Aliens would not acknowledge it). Anyway, long story short, I also agree that anything t
Thanks for the update. I am a big fan of Stardock's 'Snarky Diplomacy' responses. Some of the ones from GCII are priceless!
Agreed. I`ve always been a fan of `flavour` texts. Anything that adds a bit of personality to the AI and makes me laugh or think, `How rude!`
So only your friends will leave but why would you ask you friends to leave in the first place.Makes no sense and is redundant. I told a faction to get off my lawn and he said, to paraphrase, "We`re not going to go all the way round to get where we want. Be less paranoid!" A few turns later he declared war, so I was right to be paranoid. Point

Some nice stuff here. It`s interesting how a Dev company of another major game never, ever gave the Player the option to ask the AI to `get off my lawn` even though people for years asked them for it. But you guys have managed it. I also like that we can ask them for cash for a change. Will give this a run. Please have a version for GOG and a release of your DLC on GOG too.
Fine, devs, don`t reply to a compliment. Perhaps you`re not as altruistic as I thought you were. I`ll keep myself wary of you then.
The Diplomacy and invasion system interest me greatly. I hope they will also be released on GOG as that is the version I now happily use. I`m not even upset on buying it as a DLC any more since I won`t be chained and handcuffed to Steam. A rebate would`ve been nice for wasting £35 quid on the Steam version, but i doubt that will happen...
This is why I heavily distrust the media now. Previously it was `Global warming- We`re all gonna die!" Now it`s nothing. Why? Because the media says so. Global warming isn`t the only issue which the media has used to panic people and sell copies. I`m sick of it. I won`t believe any more of this kind of bs in the future and will check for myself by researching the EVIDENCE before believing anything I hear. Heck, I don`t even read newspapers any more since it`s just a for

I am no fan of Steam. hate Steam for various reasons i won`t go into here. In fact I tend not to buy any game on Steam or wait until it`s in the bargain bin before purchasing it. In fact 95% of my games are all off GOG. GOG does things RIGHT and ethically fairly. I made an exception for GC3 since I loved GC2 and thought it would never appear on GOG. I vote for what I think is the best Sci-fi game. Telling me to vote Gal Civ 3 because `fanboy` isn`t the way I do things.
I never got Beyond Earth Rising Tide (fool me once), but I`ve watched several utube `Let`s Plays` and I`m still not impressed. Diplomacy is only slightly better, but certainly not any better than CIV3- And what`s with the Leader silent voices, considering Civ 5 had audible speech in their authentic languages - that was a back step for Firaxis. The diplomacy screen doesn`t even feel like future tech to immerse you. The leaders themselves are also animated very poorly, yes, I know CIV3 has pret
Beyond Earth was a terribly boring and uneventful game. Firaxis really lost the plot with that one. No real strides in new ideas or even good mechanics. Even the graphics are a huge sleep walk. Lack luster, crappy. You never felt like you were on a new planet with new techs and new alien worlds. Even they themselves said they played too `safe`. Biggest disappointment ever.
