First idea: One thing that I feel galactic Civ really needs are actual planetary invasions where the Player actually views or controls the battle. It would play much as the space battles. 1st. Stage... A top down, leaning view to give us a 3Dish view of the planet surface, with building representations of what is there. 2. A representation of any planetary bombardment that`s taken place with craters and damaged smo
Since I personally coded the fixes for this, I know, for a fact, 100% that they do not see everything. Now, on higher difficulty levels, I unhide FOW for them but at that stage, it's fair game imo.
Just thought I`d pop in and say, this is really great if you`ve managed to program the AI to do this. Ai has always been one of the most important parts of any strategy ga

I like what I see here. I put the game on a hiatus until the AI was improved and it`s nice to see that it is. Had a go on Normal and had a pretty good campaign fighting the Drengin, but then the Yor came along and wupped my ass with superior firepower. then they sat on my planets to make sure I couldn`t build anything. Yep, the aI seemed to be working. I`d like to see permanent (during the battle) floating debris where ships are destroyed, though. Al

I love this patch news, especially concerning AI and events. I hope much more will be done for the AI though. I haven`t played for a couple of months and a bit since I realised the AI wasn`t actually ready yet. Just one other thing: Why the ability to print ships out in 3d? I just checked how much one of these 3D printers cost. It isn`t cheap by a long shot. Who, except some guy with more money than sense is going to spend that much on a 3D printer for a game? And how many gamer
Yes, playing challenging. I think I've peaked my difficulty level, until AI gets its FOW turned off. Krynn and other AIs just have a huge advantage, not having to SEARCH for planets. I play pragmatic or benevolent, so I dont do of the major colony spamming that peeps do on goldlike with malevolent. Are you sure the AI doesn`t make weapons to counter yours or am I understanding wrong? In my game, if I make missiles, it won`t be long before the AI comes out with ecm missile contermeasures that zap my missiles before they can do anything.
On reloading ... you guys are using it to falsely rationalise that Master players are cheating. The comment about reloading was made by me ... not the OP. I've never said Gal Civ 3 was too easy on Suicidal. I said that I found Suicidal rough but winnable. I don't consider myself even close to being a Master player of Gal Civ 3. With my first win on Suicidal, initially the Yor went on the rampa

I don`t know whether these guys cheat their way to winning (I`ve heard some constantly RELOAD UNTIL THEY WIN) or whether they are genius`, but I still find myself having a tough battle on Normal, huge. I hope the Devs do not artificially (bonuses) make the AI too powerful because of people who pretend to be godlike on their games. edit: Also why the heck does he need to tell us he`s a master chess player? So what? I play chess too, not to master l
I don't think that's true. I know Frogboy wants the best possible AI for the game, he spends a lot of his time working on it, but he's primarily the CEO of a company and he has to invest the available resources wisely. Giving us a god-tier Deep-Blue type AI will not provide much return on investment, and while that's a shame, we (the fans) actually do have an opportunity to step up and provide some support on t

I tried Steam mods- hated it. It`s a complete control register bs system that should really ring alarms bells with a lot of people. It`s sad that it doesn`t. It`s not conveninet, it`s not freedom. It`s a chain disguised to make you think you have something good, especially with its attempt to cash in on modding recently. Anyway, i`m experienced enough with the old days of modding to know how to install Mods without Steam and always support sites (such as the Nexus) that allows it. I d

I suppose the only sad note is that nobody really wants to make a superlative AI (9 out of 10) . I know that it is not apparently worth the time and cost(how times have changed), but once a Dev would make the best ever AI he could squeeze out, no matter what his resources. And I`m talking old machines that barely had 100K. In 20 years of playing games i`ve seen graphics improve 100%- AI in comparison is not really any better than in the early 90s . This

Great to see such interesting info on how AI works in the game and how you plan on `fixing` it, frogboy. Informative. Good stuff. Although I never play on Easy or Very easy, always Medium (forgot what you call it). It`s how I`ve always started and played games. That said the AI is still beating me. I`m holding my own in this present game so far (1.3). I probably should have been wiped out by now since my score is about 300 and the Yor are around 800! Yet, their at

It adds to that feeling of epicness. I don`t know how to better explain it, just watch any sci-fi flick where the

I`ve been watching the battles of ships in this game and one thing that I feel this game needs is wreckage floating about from exploded ships during a battle. Perhaps even little sprites of dead crew too. It just doesn`t seem complete that the ships bits just vanish. This is an aesthetic request, but it would add more to immersion and the feeling of space combat and its consequences; so please consider adding bits of wreckage from exploded ships, devs, thankyou. :)

You get to see whatever you`ve made placed in the scifi environment. It looks very cool, especially if placed in an animated background. For instance I put myself in there- It`s ME
