Well I noticed this as well, and considering we don't have a "obsolete button" for our own designs, you can actually use it to simulate that effect. I also really wish we had a filter that would remove all non-player designs from all construction and designer lists include templates.

Hey great job and thanks for these, some feedback though, Custom 7 has a gouge in his shoulder on the left, looks like you nicked him with the eraser. Symbol 1 and 2 seem to be slightly clipped on the right side. Thanks!
I like what we have now but would also like ideology to better interwoven with other aspects of the game as the OP suggests. 1) Different invasion methods could effect Ideology (Core implosion lol, that is malevolent) 2) Certain researches/techs could provide tools but also affect your ideology. 3) When colonizing, provide 5 choices instead of 3, don't make them QUITE as obvious, and two of those choices give you a mix of two ideologies. 4) C
I will also note, if you don't grab ideology creating buildings quickly, you could run out of planets to colonize and then get bogged down and not be able to level any ideologies until random events save you enough points. Happened to me and I didn't level for like a 100 turns lol. I kinda like pursuing two of three ideologies, but you shouldn't be able to mix Benevolent and Malevolent, but it makes sense that you could be one of those AND pragmatic. Also, certain
First, why is using our Shipyards for building military ships and the occasional colony/freighter a BAD thing? Do we really care what our shipyards are doing per-se? All we care about is effect no? What I do understand is that they want Starbases to COST you the time/energy/material that could be used on military ships, but there are cleaner ways to do it. 1) As I mentioned in another thread, make Starbases require a planet sponsor to produce, thus stealing prod
Quoting psychoak, reply 9 Constructor spamming starbases is just annoying, but it's not constant enough to make them sponsored like shipyards are. I would instead have it be a work order that would put a build item into the host planet's production queue. This w
Hey guys! Well I continue to work on a new space squid/organic ship set. Its surprisingly relaxing, because you can be a lot less precise with the parts when you know your going to be scaling and animating pretty much ALL of them lol. This time we have the Fighter Swarm (small hull) a Cargo Hull and a Nautilus inspired Medium Hull. When I do a large and huge, I definitely plan on having lots of little fighters hanging on their undersides, ready to launch. Feedb
There is also range and rate of fire stats that can be increased, but no ingame documentation on these, so it's kinda impossible to really optimize strategies on this. Tactical speed also matters for accuracy, but i can't tell you by how's much. It's pretty frustrating.
I don't disagree at all, it seems odd that the AI is being given support cargo ships like "Tactical Support" and "Beam Support" on cargo hulls. They even bothered to give them defenses.
So with the latest beta, I've seen some cargo hulls loaded up with support modules, clearly meant for use within a battle fleet. What are people's opinion on that? Good idea? Bad idea? For example, considering how broken carriers are, why not build up fleets of cargo hulls filled with Carrier modules and go to town?
Personally I would rid us of the whole constructor aspect of upgrading StarBases. I would still have a constructor to establish bases, but once built, I would have a StarBase select a "sponsor" just like Shipyards. You can then que upgrades on your StarBase to your heart's content all at once, and they will leach manufacturing points from the planet as they get constructed over time. This solution provides a very s
@ Admiral_Bob I like that fighter a lot, good work, though I wonder is that last picture just three in a fleet? @Edladner As usual, nice retro look. Though Its getting hard to judge ships in screen shots with that color scheme, its very dark and obscures some details. That could just be me and my weak and feeble organic eyes. For myself, and for the GalCiv 3 Fighter Design Contest I decided to take my first real stab at an or
I have mostly finished my redux of my first terran ship set. I had started that set not knowing the ins and outs of the editor and various bugs, so a fresh start was needed to rid myself of the issues. I think its all the better for it, but I wouldn't want to do it again. Now that videos shows everything, but at 2:13 minutes, is my absolute favorite, the Large Carr
That fighter makes me think transformers... don't know why... but its just... more than meets the eye? As for the Carrier Edladner, first I'll ask... is it called Brimstone? Because wow is that a lot of red! I love it, its very cool.

I hear you. I'm having to completely redo my original ship set to fix it. You may already know how to avoid the issue in future, but just in case, for anyone reading. To avoid many possible issues when designing large numbers of ships. 1) Always build off of one ship component. Do not attach multiple components to your original cube. (necessary for any big animations you might want later) 2) Start a game, press "`" type "unlock". This gives y
Agreed! +1!
Well I've been busy with some other things, but I finally finished another ship set. I was initially inspired by the Vegyr from Home World 2, so the Destroyer is as quite similar, things began mutating from there though lol. I'm particularly happy with the Fighter. Love the ships guys! Keep em coming! @Gigglefish, what is the exact role of that ship? Engineless defense ship would be my guess, but the front spinning thing doesn't strike me as a weapon. Either way, really cool, I haven't branched into Altarian designs yet, but I look forward to them. For everyone else... I am trying to standardize some aspects of my ship sets. For example, I really wish the game used absolute scale and did not subjecti
@Edladner Love the fighter, it goes well with your other ships, feels very WW2 to me, especially that fighter which gives off the 60s transitional vibe. It also looks very functional for all environs. @Turkwise Good points about the videos, I was also trying to keep them short. I'll eventually be filling out the rosters of ships with more variants, so eventually I'll take a new video.
Special thanks to AlLanMandragoran and adamb1011 for the kind words! When the game is released, I'll be distributing ship designs, so you too can enjoy these. Also, adamb1011, I really like that ship, my only thought is that the window lights on the side are s
Alrighty! My bugs/Yor ship set is done. These guys definitely took a while, and a lot of work went into the carriers... the Huge Carrier actually gets a little choppy in the designer because of all the moving parts (all the individual fighters cannons swivel a little). I'll have to produce a version of that model with less animations for the future... runs fine in the rest of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TN_F6t_boUw&feature=youtu.be[/
Love it and I love the asymmetry!
Well that is just adorable! Coincidentally, I started working on a Yor set of ships two days ago, they are VERY bug like, and lots of moving parts, but I am looking forward to some more organic looking part sets from the other races maybe, the Altarians just don't quite cut it for me. One thing I learned with the eye piece you used there as well, is that it works well with the Scale animation, just scale it by say 8-10% at a decent speed and it makes the eye look like it i
Got my act together and took some videos of my three sets. Terran and Kryseth, as I've shown, and now one for the Iridium. The new one, is very vertical and a little "bugly".
