Ideology system needs optimisation.

I played many hours in GalCiv3 and I like in this game almost everithing, but... ideologyes sucks almost completely. I think, that all thre ideology brances must be extended with bigger amount of avaliable achievements (recently added 20 achievements per ideology can be gained by player in very short time), and each ideology should block access to both other ether entirely or partically, because now every race can gain full access to all three ideologyes,that looks illogical. 

My thoughts about such system are:

Malevolent race (enough only one achievement in ideology) have no access to benevolent ideology, and can gain acces to vigilant and first three achievements of Traders branches of Pragmatic ideology.

Pragmatic race have access to benevolent and malevolent achievements, but not full. Only Affinity and Enlightement from benevolent, and Motivation and Awe from malevolent

Benevolent race have no access to benevolent ideology, and can achieve Builder and Negotiator branches from pragmatic.

 

I think such ideology system can make ideologyes more important element of game and choice of race ideology will become grate element of game grand strategy.

One thought I had was that perhaps each tree could have 6 lines. Your first choice on colonizing is your primary ideology, which will allow you access to 4 lines, and your second choice would be your secondary, which would allow you 2 lines - or 6 if you repeat the choice. It makes sense that you could be mostly benevolent but sometimes pragmatic, for example, or totally benevolent etc.

But I also think that once they sort out the points deduction when choosing, it won't be so easy to get all trees maxed out. I wouldn't be surprised if it's like this now so we can see if all the elements of the ideology trees work properly, rather than it being a bug. Also remember that in GC2 you had to research ideologies via the tech tree which usually took a while so I can't see them going back on that idea.

The ideology system needs an optimization pass.  I was just playing as a synthetic race and way too many choices revolve around food and growth rate.  Also with the way approval works now it can mainly be ignored so its not much a choice either.  I'd also like to see some expansion of the trees and maybe restrictions on access to multiple trees.

I will also note, if you don't grab ideology creating buildings quickly, you could run out of planets to colonize and then get bogged down and not be able to level any ideologies until random events save you enough points. Happened to me and I didn't level for like a 100 turns lol.

I kinda like pursuing two of three ideologies, but you shouldn't be able to mix Benevolent and Malevolent, but it makes sense that you could be one of those AND pragmatic.

Also, certain planetary invasion actions could add to these. Core Implosion is malevolent, Information Warfare is benevolent, and have another for Pragmatic.

Well, I don`t think, that mixing Benevolent "good" and malevolent "evil" ideologies in one race, cause they are antagonistic each other. Pragmatics should have option to partically use both of them, and both of them soud have access to Pragmatic, but not to each other. About running out of free planets- I usually play at big scale maps, and with ideology buildings (than is rather neccesary to have because of their bonuses) i usually have full ideology with 10-15 colonies, and in galaxy there are about several hundreds planets to colonization.
