Kinda just feel like wish-listing... Starbase-s would be more fun (IMO) if they were bigger, more powerful, but also rarer/more expensive constructs. 1) No more "types" all upgrades available, so you can mix and match and make things the way you want. 2) Fewer Starbases allowed next to each other, but have a larger area effect, and greater maintenance costs. 3) Eventually (with tech) ability to also act as a shipyard. 4) If

Just to add to this, I learned that if you set "AI Only" as true, in the ship def file, for Starting Colony, Scout, and Survey ships, the ship set will crash the game and fail to load. You can however, set all other designs as AI Only is true to remove all of those pre-designed ships from your list (CLEAN AT LAST!!!)

All "fun" is of course subjective, but I think a larger number of folks find constructors deeply "unfun". I'm very in favor of a military shipyard sponsoring a starbase and then having a que list on the starbase itself. This won't be perfect, but it will at least maintain the reduction in shipbuilding capacity that constructors are meant to incur. Someone mentioned that we won't be able to snipe en-route constructor ships, that is true, but how often

Awesome dude, happy to see someone else do a open carrier bay. Really smart use of glowy components, I'll have to keep that in mind! Another set done!
Quoting Gauntlet03, reply 17 There are a million arguments for and against both of these, and you can always say "its the future so it isn't a issue, X technology fixes it" but would that be fun? Is LEP fun? I can think of a few words to descri

No not necessarily. As you expand and expand, each planet may easily begin to diversify from each other, Planet A may begin having a very different culture than Planet B if transit and communication are not very tight, and they may do so anyways. Generally, different cultural values will lead to very different views on how the empire as a whole could/should be managed. Another possibility, is that as the empire grows, it begins to service individual colonies less and less well, and th

Hey there! No it does not matter what hull size you choose for your custom component or turret, except you might want to use a hull based on menu placement. For example if you want the turrets away from most ships in the menu, maybe use cargo hulls. As for placing real components, like engines and defenses, I set these to invisible or, I sink the part until it is deep inside the model. Not a bad id

First, THANK YOU very much for the kind words all. I really appreciate it. Keep commenting, feel free to post critical points as well, I won't (likely) be offended by anything! Also, @RavenX, I'll try to do a video tonight (I have more B5 Minbari ships done to show off) and discuss methods and such... but yeah... I don't think I'm using any shortcuts my friend!

This is a common problem, while I understand wanting authenticity, I'd make the ship both less long as much as you can, and I would also use the scaling "trick" of using small pylons out from the model, on your other ships to scale them DOWN a little. The resulting contrast should make things a bit better looking.

Hey guys! Set #5 completed! Had a lot of fun making retrofitted/salvaged versions of my other ships in this one! The Turan Raiders

Hey guys! Great works! That B5 defense Satelite is perfection! Also Mr. StarTrek, is the Steamrunner your own concept or a preexisting canon-ish ship? Love it, very shiny! @Iovar, nice work, some really interesting tidbits on some of these ships... I really appreciate everyone posting, helps inspire me!

While many have suggested diminishing returns for sensors, and I'm generally all for that... if they are looking for a "dumb as nails" simple solution, increasing the mass like this isn't a great way to do it, because every ship the AI uses with sensors now suffers tremendously by wasting space. I would have preferred they just make sensors 1 per ship, low mass for low tech, higher mass for high tech, and generally decent range (starting one could be 4), but hav

MSB should have IMO 1) A great sensor upgrade tree that can come close to current sensor boats with enough investment. 2) Bigger range for all of their abilities by default? (I'm a little torn on this one) 3) 500 HP when fully upgraded. (Still very, very destroyable) 4) Have a great repair aura. I would then need/want to build one before any major invasion and certainly on defense. I'm not going to get into math, I
